This song has a very special place in my heart. It was a favorite of my brother-in-law John. He was killed by a crazy woman who hit him at 115 mph. We played this at his funeral. It's beautiful but bittersweet.

One of my all time favourite songs. Co-written by Alan Parsons and Eric Wolfson on the 1982 Eye in the Sky album. They brought in Colin Blumstone of the Zombies to sing. In my view, a perfect voice for this song. I am loving the lyrics too!.. "bitter words mean little to me, autumn winds will blow right through me" ... "when they ask you if you knew, remember that you were a friend of mine". Thank you for this memory!

This is such a lovely song. Alan Parsons Project was known for their different sounds from album to album. They did an entire album based on Edgar Allen Poe stories, “Tales of Mystery and Imagination.” Some good songs to check out: “Eye In The Sky,” “Silence And I,” “Games People Play,” “Time,” and “Stereotomy.”

Eric Woolfson recorded a follow-up album called "Poe: More Tales of Mystery and Imagination." This one is a little different in that its songs focus more on the author's life, although there are some songs based on Poe's works, including his poem "The Bells" set to music. Woolfson even created a stage musical of "Poe" that was performed at Abbey Road Studio and is available on DVD. Hope you delve into more of the Project's works in the near future.

Woolfson was the piano/keyboard player and main vocalist for AAP There was no single group of players; because, EW and AP found terrific session players and vocalists throughout their tenure as the Project. And, as you can see, we're all better off for it. They were an exceptional group of musicians This year was the 50th anniversary of my high school graduation (1972). We were all requested to name a song that best represented our philosophy today. I chose this. It wasn't difficult.

For your information: Alan Parsons is an English audio engineer, songwriter, musician and record producer.
Parsons was involved with the production of several albums, including the Beatles' Abbey Road (1969) and Let It Be (1970), Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), and the eponymous debut album by Ambrosia in 1975.

Trying to put together the history of actual live performances of The Alan Parsons Project is almost impossible, as he was producing records (started studio engineering for the Beatles in 1967) for decades before ever performing live.. He produced scores of hits for many artists including his own for decades before ever taking to the stage.. Talk about the music standing alone. With virtually no live performing, his music stood on it's own merit. His albums truly were projects because there was no "band" , he used various artists as lead singers and musicians.. Hits covering decades without live performing has never been done by anyone else.. One of my favorites by Parsons is Don't Answer Me.. th-cam.com/video/hJMEaKHbnao/w-d-xo.html

This is the perfect example of how the brilliance of the Sixties was replaced by soulless electronic music. Music for the computer age where people’s minds were becoming dulled during the Eighties - and worse was to follow. The singer’s dirge-like voice is depressing. Ac, it’s not MUSIC it’s MUZAK, as they called it. Background mush for shops and supermarkets. I see most of the musicians were just session men. It sounds it. Music for Eighties Yuppies. Sad to se British music sinking.
