I gave my son (25 yrs old), my daughter (27 yrs old) and my two grandsons each an American Silver Eagle for Christmas about 5 yrs ago. My son doesn't remember what happened to it, my daughter threw it in her jewelry box and who knows what my grandsons did with theirs. I'd only give silver coins now as gifts if the recipients appreciates them.

My granddad gave my brothers and I a silver dollar for each birthday when growing up. I loved the way the coin felt in my hand, but I had no idea why it was more special than any coin. I used the coins to buy candy. Brothers spent theirs as well. So yes, give children the coins. Keep them safe but let them feel/play with the coins. They need to know the coins are theirs, but not to squander them.

There are so many people that say if people want food more than silver they’re not going to barter with Silver -so please do a video that explains the highlighted points on why 90% silver would be good for bartering. Because most people may not see the value in the silver or trust the amount or know anything about it.

Been picking up pandas for 28 and a 2 oz skull for 60. The Brit bars aren’t a bad deal. Disappointed that bullion dealers are charging almost the same as coins no diff in premiums really. So I’ll continue to pickup higher premium items one offs for 28 until kilos come back down. Gold is really my focus better deal to me.

Yankee, you mentioned you’re looking for a new safe. Check into a used ISM Jeweler’s safe, or something similar. Comes in various sizes, and they have excellent security features to protect against drilling. Awesome safes, and buying used saves you a ton of money. They are heavy, so they need to be placed on a slab. For storing bars, use monster boxes. They can hold a lot of weight. Tip: keep a roll of duct tape in the safe in case you have to skedaddle. Wrap the tape around the center of the boxes and throw them in your vehicle.

I'm glad the question about random years came up. I think it depends on the shop or dealer you buy from. It might be a good idea to check with your dealer, (especially if ordering online), whether 'random years' is mostly BU coins or whether it includes 'culls' or badly stained/spotted coins. If the discount for RYs isn't significant, especially if ordering online in small quantities, I probably wouldn't opt for these out of worry I would get very unattractive examples that could be harder to sell in future. Just a few thoughts :)

My route, and recommendation. (Take it out leave it) collect silver rounds 1 ounce until you have 100 ounces. (My preference are buffalos. Then start collecting gold. (Again buffalos, or in this case eagles). You can start with 1/4 or if possible 1/2 as they will be easier to actually use. Get up to 10 ounces of fractional gold, then start purchasing 1 ounce gold. Collect until dead.

I 100% do not agree that if you have never collected you should start with rounds. I believe you should start with junk silver because it's realistic and you're more likely to stay with collecting this stuff and then graduate into rounds. I personally do not like the novelty stuff It's just made for collecting I don't trust most bars because there's been issues. However junk silver usually is what it is and of course rounds can be more easily verified with legitimate dealers and resources.

The way I understand it, not on US Coins, the rest depends on how much product and what state or country you're residing in. You can email the big bullion dealers and they can probably answer you questions.

If your local coin shop is selling junk silver at 24 times face, find a better coin shop.

You didn't mention that any combination of used 90% silver coins face value that would equal $1 has what rounds to .71 ounces of silver.

The younger generations are growing up with the electronic ping and go system of money and a lot of them already find coins and notes a nuisance to deal with. Digital currency will come, that is a given as far as i can see, i worry about the programmability of Digital currency and the untrustworthy future governments
