  • In this Silver Pros Collab we talk about how to buy and store silver bullion properly. Silver Pros is a live stream with Silver Dragons and Yankee Stacking and is sponsored by Hero Bullion. When it comes to buying silver bullion in 2021 or whenever you are buying silver, you need to make sure that you are buying it from the right place and not getting scammed. One of the biggest silver stacking mistakes is buying fake silver. We recommend buying silver from a local coin shop or an online bullion dealer when you are new to investing in silver bullion. When it comes to properly and safely storing your silver bullion bars and silver bullion coins there are many silver stacking tips that we share as well. The best place to store your silver bullion is in a heavy hidden safe. We also go over some of the worst places to store your silver and the proper tubes, capsules, and flips to use as well!

One thing I want to add to the security and storage. If you don't have a safe or maybe even if you do have a safe. Split up your stack. If you scatter it around in various locations it's less risk that all will be found. I don't have a big or very good safe and this is what I do. Just make sure not to lose track of where you keep things as you squirrel it around everywhere. Another option is to put false panels in furniture or walls.

Went by my first large coin dealer shop today. The elderly man was really friendly really helpful, the corn-fed boys didn't talk too much they just watch me real close. They had three trays of dimes quarters and 50 cent pieces with hundreds of each in each tray. Really felt overwhelmed with all of the coins that they had. I was surprised

Another tip for hiding coins is don’t tell everyone you have it. Keep it between you and your close friends and family. Don’t post on social media etc. if you don’t talk about it then you are not a target for that particular reason. Also a security system helps too.

Back when I lived in military housing and couldn't bolt a safe to the floor, and moving a safe every couple of years would have been a pain in the butt, I stored my bullion at the bottom of a wooden crate that had rusty old tire chains in it. Slap’s “Eleven Rules For Storing Gold & Silver At Home”
    1) A safe advertises hidden valuables, but if you must use a safe, bolt it down and load it with VERY heavy weights.
    2) Store some decoy/sacrificial coins/cheap jewelry in an easy-to-find location. Then hide the good stuff well.
    3) Unless you use a safe, NEVER hide your stash in a bedroom or bedroom closet.
    4) Same as #3, but insert “study” and “pantry”.
    5) Forget hollowed-out books, fake soup cans, etc… your stack will be stolen in less than 5 minutes.
    6) If using a desk, bookcase or shelf, make sure your hiding spot won’t be revealed if these are tipped over. Because they WILL be tipped over.
    7) You WILL want frequent access to your stash (to add to it, look at it, or (god forbid) take from it)… don’t make access difficult (behind drywall, buried in the yard, need a sledgehammer to get to it, etc.).
    8) Unless using a safe, the best spots are in plain sight and LIKELY TO BE OVERLOOKED, or they’re multi-layered (meaning you have to move this, shift that, lift this and open that in order to access your stash).
    9) Make sure someone you trust (spouse, financial planner, estate attorney, etc) has a sealed “open in the event of my death” letter describing where your stash is hidden.
    10) With the exception of #9 above, NEVER EVER talk about your stash or that it’s in your home.
    11) Never use a hiding spot that can be discovered by a contractor doing work in your house or yard.
KEEP IN MIND: The average home burglary in the US lasts just 11 minutes! Thieves want a quick hit-and-run.

@@eaglepatriot1158 recently, I have run across people that don't exactly understand how much silver coins or bullion are really worth. And they must have done absolutely zero research, because even a simple Google search of silver will bring up something about spot price.
The first person I came across, I was honest and told them a lot of what I know about silver. They had like 60 mercury dimes, 5 ASE, a 1964 Kennedy, and 4 generic rounds. I gave them $28 each for the rounds and ASE, $9 for the kennedy, and $2 for the mercury dimes. That person didn't have a set price, as they initially were selling a generic rounds for $70 each; I simply asked they them if they were willing to negotiate, and then told them all that.
But the second person already the coins set at a price. I just decided to come in and swoop it up without saying anything but thanks.

Turns out it was an integrity check from the company and it was all fake except the cash

When burying, put the bullion at least one foot below some buried old metal, such as rusty pipes, and then bury pipes along the same line or in other parts of the yard. It would take a long time for a thief with a metal detector to dig up your whole yard. Provide a sealed envelope with a map or riddle (without addresses, etc.) to be opened upon your incapacity/death to one trusted person, and don't tell the person that it is a direction to the buried bullion.

This is good info, for people who live in HOMES, and it’s quite obvious in the techniques in hiding and holding your coins, buuuuut, what about people who don’t live in homes. Yeah, basically, a safe, and whatever size you can get that is going to go in that apartment, and hide it. There, I did that bid for you verbally.

Years ago on my Birthday I got my Gold/Silver stolen while out for Dinner.
It was in my closet in a heavish safe hidden under clothes.
They broke open the safe, but it back the way it was, so I didn't even notice until the next morning.
Cop's were called, investigated the scene.
I called and went to local coin dealers and pawnshops so they could be on the look out for anyone trying to sell my coins.
    (Unsolved mystery).
PS my sister's say I should keep my new collection in a bank "Safe Depot Box " !!!
In the ground in the backyard 🙂 is a good idea for me.
Or up in the mountains in a tree stump.

One place to hide stuff, not so much coins but, dollars or jewelry that a thief will never look is on top of your door.
I took a paddle drill bit and drilled a hole straight down into the top of my closet door. Just big enough and deep enough to fit a metal or plastic cigar tube. I have a washer glued to the top of it and when it's inside the hole the washer sits flush with top of the door. I use a magnet to pull it out. It won't protect your stuff against fire all that much but its a good hiding spot if you don't have a safe. Well it was good until I posted it on here. Lol

My LCS does ask me personal questions, like, "where is your better half?" Ha ha. What a wonderful guy he is. A few years in and he is the ONLY LCS I do business with. Now, I'm in Oregon, like "Dragons" and years ago met Dennis and he's awesome too and if the deal is right, I'd deal with him for sure. I should probably go in there and establish a business relationship as well. But it's great to have a good business and friendship relationship with your LCS like knowing your both always exercise the 2A and have the back of the other. Good times. I no longer deal with APMEX or JM. It's only SD and Hero for me now as they still take money orders and I prefer to be "off the government radar" which is what we as stackers are or should be all about...

Around 31:00 Just a piece of advise. Never buy a Liberty Safe. They have a master code to enter anyone's safe. All you need to do is call Liberty Safes and tell them the serial number of the Liberty Safe and they will give you a master code to open it. It's for those people that had forgotten their safe code and criminals use that to their advantage, by just calling Liberty Safes and tell them you dont remember your code and they will just give the criminal the master code to open it.
I keep all my gold and silver in a mid size fireproof safe that is in a 5 ton fireproof safe. So if anyone tried to steal it they would need a bobcat to lift the safe onto a flatbed truck or a tow truck in order to move it. There's no way in hell they can crack a 5 ton 14 digit combo fireproof safe.

What constitutes a “good local dealer?” I’ve been using a place nearby so I can pay cash, and the first time I bought I got spot price. Every time since then they’ve charged me $3.50 over spot. Their prices make them basically the same as buying online, so the only benefit to buying local at that point is shipping costs, which typically are zero for the volume I purchase. Should I consider using an online dealer instead of the local guy? If I did, it would actually make my life a little easier and give me more privacy.

Those little packets that come in food packages to keep the food fresh can be used to keep humidity down. And, apparently you can refresh those by putting them out in the sun every so often.
