The energy Joe & Jim are bringing is something this franchise hasn’t seen. Tom always sad what needed to be said & just enough to scrape by. McCoy, Turner, Lynn, Staley. They never had this energy of just pure joy to be here & thought of winning. Can’t believe the Spanos family did this good. Kudos to them for stepping up to the plate. They’ve seemed to have finally turned the tides

Not true, you're forgetting about the great Marty Schottenheimer. He had that same energy, but yeah, I guess you're right in terms of GM and Coach DUO. But I hope things finally turn around ! All love from San Diego, baby !

Telesco was terrible throughout his tenure. Telesco doesn’t have a good record in the draft, free agency, nor in hiring coaches.

@dandeitch3459 Like we coulda drafted Herbert or Bosa or Derwin.. People seem to forget rounds 3--6. These are the depth, the foundation of a team.. and we were ALWAYS top-heavy! It's why when we get injuries to a wr and say an edge rusher, we're f'd

This is the most excited I ever been as a Chargers fan since the LT days. I believe this team is headed in the right direction. The front office and coaching staff have the same vision. Kudos to the Spanos family for recognizing the shortcomings of the past and being relentless in their pursuit to bring this organization the tools needed to get job done.
I think we all need to thank the Raiders as well. The Raiders won that game, but they might be responsible for launching the best era in Chargers history. That was the moment everyone invested in the Chargers fans, players, ownership had enough.

Dolphins fan here, but the Chargers were always one of the teams I would root for when they weren't playing Miami. Being a huge Michigan fan, that feeling has grown even more. I feel great for their fanbase. They will be a team to worry about in the AFC for the next 5-10 years. Although, I think some Chargers fans are getting a little ahead of themselves with predictions to contend next year. Be patient. Harbaugh and Hortiz will have them contending by 2025 or 2026. I'm a sports reporter who has worked the draft since 1983 as a hobby and 1983 professionally. I'm interested to see their philosophy this year. I would bet on them trading back if they can with the fifth pick. Have a lot of holes to fill.

Thx to the Spanos family for making the right move here and writing the checks. They've been panned for years and sometimes deservedly so but look at us now. They hired the best coach in football, gave him the reins and we're along for the ride. GO BOLTS!!

Coordinators are put in place to run the specific schemes they are experts at. Greg Roman's offense, the scheme they brought him in to run, doesn't lead the league in rushing because of the crazy amount of yards the running backs run for. His offense leads the league in rushing because of the crazy amount of yards his QBs run for. After his first season, Colin Kaepernick never averaged less than 31 yards rushing per game under Roman. Tyrod Taylor? Not less than 38 under him. Lamar Jackson??? Never less than 43, and after his rookie season, never less than 63. And Greg Roman is smart enough to know the RBs benefit from that, too.
THAT'S the offense Roman got hired for. And Justin Herbert is NOT that guy. It's clear with all the FO and coaching changes, what Spanos wants to see on the field. He committed all his hirings to it. It's pretty obvious Spanos looked at what he had, his cap situation, the personnel decisions that would have to be made to manage that cap situation, his coaching situation, his FO situation...and decided the best thing to do was scrap it all and start from scratch. And that may include Herbert, who would return a MASSIVE haul of draft capital.
Don't be shocked if Justin is under center in 2024, his last mane just may not be Herbert...it may be Fields...who would be electric in a Greg Roman offense.
Seriously, what would you rather have: A) The team trying to fit the square peg Herbert into the round hole of Roman's offense, or B) Marvin Harrison, Brock Bowers, one other Top 5 or 10 pick, AND Justin Fields, who would rush for 1000 yards per season because he was practically made for this Greg Roman offense? Call it Ravens West.

He already has so much more knowledge, and so much more experience than Telesco did, our old GM never knew really pretty much anything. All he had was a philosophy of building in the draft, the rest, he kind of just improvise, and he didn’t even know what he was doing honestly. The guy was so inexperienced and just no real football instinct, this new guy is way more well-versed and you can tell he really has a better vision and more details
