Some great, practical ideas; I especially like that you always carry the rain poncho and the survival reflective tarp, and of course compass and first aid kit. I always have a ferro rod and Swiss Army knife in my pocket. As usual, I enjoyed your video; thank you!
Whew!!! That's some real nice gear!!!!! I have a lot of the same kind of stuff in mine, but not as nice as yours! Thanks for sharing... I like seeing what other guys carry. --- Chris
Thanks Chris. I think we all have basically the same stuff. I too like to see what others take with them. I thank you for watching and for taking the time to comment, take care.
Very good choices for your bag .. And that pouch sure does fit the Altoids box perfect ... Great video Bro Plus your right us bigger guys don,t worry too much about weight ..... Mark ....
Thanks Mark. And yeah it really does Bushcrafter Channel did a great job on it. Yeah I just figure if the weight isn't uncomfortable then it's good. This is the first time I have ever even weighed a pack at all. Thanks for watching, take care.
11OCT18 I bought the Royale Junior pack about a year ago, after purchasing the Royale and the Royale Mini. Nearly $1200 all told for these three packs. As I was prepping the Junior for serious use the canvas flap tore under my fingers just opening the flap. When I called to arrange a return I got the run-around. At no time did this company say anything remotely resembling, "Oh, sorry to hear that. Send it in and we'll get you sorted." I had to ship the pack to them at my cost, and although I was assured I would be reimbursed for the shipping costs, I was not compensated for the return shipping. Not only did Frostriver decline to repair what was obviously rotten canvas, they also blamed me for the damage, saying that because I modified the pack by removing the Frostriver leather patch on the flap and removing the stitching from the map pocket inside on the flap, I caused the tear. As if removing some thread affected the quality of the canvas. Frostriver also thought it intelligent to close their letter of refusal with the following gem: "apologies that we will not see eye-to-eye on this, but we just may not be the right fit for you." This pearl was signed "sincerely" by Stephanie Anderson. At what price-point can you reliably trust you are purchasing a quality item backed by a good warranty? I have made many purchases from Frostriver other than packs. How can you trust a company that refuses to repair or replace poor materials and workmanship? I had yet to even take the Junior into the field, in fact never got it out of the house. Now I'm glad I never got the chance as I have no idea what might fail next. I will never make another purchase from this terrible company again. Poor customer service is one issue, but poorly crafted gear and a refusal to have any honor whatsoever is a whole different thing. Add to that Ms Anderson’s attempt to blame the consumer and excuse poor quality and the result is the loss of customers. Steer well clear of this company. Your hard-earned money is much better spent with a company that recognizes the value of repeat customers and the difficulty many have in financing Frostriver purchases. They appear to offer quality and good warranties, but the truth is they offer neither. I have no alternative vendor to recommend, but literally anyone else would be better. Go with a company that appreciates your custom, not one like Frostriver only interested in fleecing the very people keeping their lights on.
Wow man, sounds like you had a terrible experience. I haven't had a chance to test them on their customer service as of yet. But the products that I have of theirs have no signs of poor quality. Sounds like you get a lemon, and yes they should have made it right by you. Thanks for watching my friend, take care.
Good stuff amigo. May I suggest a 'bucket' or cut off trash can in the bottom of your pack, it's a great container and adds rigidity to your pack. You can install handles in it for carrying water. Perhaps a Sawyer mini water filter. Liked the kit.
I’ve thought about that very same thing. And you just reminded me that I forgot my water filter, it’s the sawyer squeeze. Thanks for the tip man I appreciate it and thanks for watching, take care.
Excellent video my friend. I know this video is a year old, but it is still fun to see what my buddies are carrying in their packs. Thanks again for sharing and have a blessed weekend. Dale
I am of the same school as you, if I can carry it I'll bring it with me. I tend to go tool heavy because like you I like to play, navigation/bushcraft just to see what I can do with what I have. Great video Frost River packs are pretty much bulletproof .
Right on man, that's the reason we are out there to relax and have fun. I have no complaints about any of my Frost River products. I plan on getting the Nessmuk pack soon as well. Thanks for watching my friend, take care.
Great gear sir. Same here, not concerned with weighing the gear as long as I can carry it without falling over backwards :-P Thanks for sharing! - Shane
Thank you, one day I'll have to redo this video as a lot of stuff has changed. Merry Christmas to you as well. And thanks for watching, take care my friend.
Lester River gear is top notch. It will last a lifetime or even longer. Is that a Lester River pullover? Luv mine. Do you have a light packed in there somewhere? Thanks for sharing.
I won't argue with that. And yes that is a Lester River shirt, I absolutely love it. I just wish it was a little bigger around my shoulders. And yes I showed my head lamp in there somewhere. Thanks for watching my friend , take care.
Great stuff brother seems to me like you got all you need! That's the cool thing about a backpack, it can have completely different items but still have everything you need, hiking is definitely a personal experience💪👍
Thanks Yankee, my kit is always evolving . And yeah I agree with hiking being a personal experience. I always experience sore legs, lol. Thanks for watching brother, take care.
The bottomless pack!!! lol.. I carry almost the same gear and my med Alice looks like a stuffed toad. Going to have to re-think the way I pack I think...lol
Good video Brother! I agree, weight can be a concern..but having the gear we want and enjoy using is sometimes worth the extra weight! My Buddy I camp with a lot gives me crap for all that I carry lol. Good video!!!
lone_woodsman i have an overnighter thjis weekend tgat I'm trying to downsize for so I will definitely be watching your video over and over until I get my bag right. Thanks so much my friend
I think you said something about using a modular sleep system. If you carry all three pieces of that sleep gear, does it fit inside of your FR pack? I know you purchased a TS 12 by 12 Oilskin tarp that is now strapped to the bottom of your pack so that spot is taken.
Yes I have an MSS that I use from time to time. And yes it will fit inside my pack, but there are d rings on top of the pack as well that I could lash things to. So I could move the tarp to the top and put the sleep system on the bottom or the other way around. Thanks for watching my friend, take care.
Thank you. Here is where I purchased all of the accessory bags and the pack. www.frostriver.com/?gclid=CjwKCAiA_c7UBRAjEiwApCZi8SUvMTlBmtwrLrv8KH-ODmp73FrgNj8On5L8tbtWYG6X2ke_O5bXwRoChyQQAvD_BwE

Container inside of a container love our toys we all pack different items in different ways.
I should re-make this video at some point. A lot of my gear has changed over the years. Thanks for watching, take care my friend.
Some great, practical ideas; I especially like that you always carry the rain poncho and the survival reflective tarp, and of course compass and first aid kit. I always have a ferro rod and Swiss Army knife in my pocket. As usual, I enjoyed your video; thank you!
Thank you Frank. I like to always like to be prepared to spend the night, cause ya never know. Thanks for watching, take care.

Thank you. You'd be surprised how easy it is to start cutting down on weight once you start focusing on it. Thanks for watching, take care.
lone_woodsman we're already purging a ton, but still wondering how we'd for everything we own for a family of 5 on a boat

Can you tell us what that haversack is? It appears in the opening shots. Small haversack? Shot bag?
I got that haversack at the Uitwaaien Bushcraft Gathering last year from Campcraft Outdoors. Thanks for watching, take care my friend.
Thanks for the vid. Just wondering what do you call that black cord that you had in a roll?
