    I'm sure every subscriber will agree that we all enjoyed your trip Ian. You showed us some fantastic cars, museums and locations that many of us will never get the chance to visit. Although you couldn't possibly mention everyone by name, we would also like to thank all the people who helped you on your trip. It just shows that there are a whole load of really good people in this crazy world.

    Being a Brit(although living in OZ), I have to say that it's all been spellbinding to watch, including your ever present openness about how you were feeling, which generally isn't our strong point as a nation, but became a very compelling back story to your tour(we've all been there) and the cars were astounding to see. And yes, that flight is a BASTARD. Thank you very much for a fantastic alternative to the horrendous Aussie TV.

      It's one of the well to do Sydney northern burbs....leafy and affluent....its nick name is "SNIVES"...."SN" for snob. It is a lovely area if you can afford to live there....very pricey real estate and most of the children attend private schools. Mr Hubnut must have had to close his eyes often to avoid looking at late model Merc's, BM's and Audi's....not really his cup of tea. 🤣

    "On est tous dans le même bâteau".
    Thanks for sharing videos from your trip down under and also a few of Wales too. Love the place, have friends in Conwy. One of which is a tinkerer and was involved in the British Bus Preservation Group. So lots of lovely memories from the few times we've been able to travel from France to Wales to see them.
    On this side of the channel, motivation has been difficult - lock down has been very strict since mid March, so I really sympathise with how you feel. Projects-wise I would like to progress with my Mega Multitruck, which is sadly sitting there minus front panel, as I've not got around to painting the chassis and other rustable metal bits. Having children in your life changes things too. My two are home-schooling. Now we have more time, you then find it can also be difficult to buy things too, like DIY stuff. My OH has been working from home. I've been trying to hold onto the work I can find (work for myself). Very strange times. Will look forward to further videos when you are able to put them together and good luck with the projects.

    Truly great adventures to look back on and, as I've said before, some stunning videos, no doubt having much to do with the lighting quality. Maybe it's just too early for tinkering, the size of the fleet now must seem a daunting task to say the least. A TWK engine rebuild has my vote, If at any time you decide to have a viewers vote.

    Having been to Japan several times married 30 years to a Japanese Lady. I remember looking at all the wonderful cars back in the 90's. Like the funny names Chiffon-Bistro (a small Daihatsu?), a Mitsubishi Truck called Super Great (in english) But the best one was the Toyota Carib-4WD a bit like your Tercel. It had written on the side in English " The Smell of rain on the Asphalt makes Carib scream: I wanna get back to nature". There were many retro styled cars based on old British models around Mini size. And a bizarre Pink Nissan Micra which was decked out with Hello Kitty's and childlike touches. You could buy a whole Hello Kitty house as well. I test drove the first Prius in late 1996 and had a brochure in Japanese which I seem to have lost. A Japanese friend of mine imported 20B Eunos Cosmo's which is the smoothest engine and mountains of Torque as it was a 3-Rotor and had 2 sequential turbo's. It could easily accelerate up steep roads. Even today you see many models not available elsewhere.

      There was a 20B Cosmo living not that far away from my unit until fairly recently. Got to drive it for a feature but sadly never managed to get back and shoot a video. Incredible machines.

    Hi Ian, just finished watching your Anzac trip.
    It was great viewing.
    I'm so glad you enjoyed NZ.
    I used to live in Melbourne in 95, so it was good to see the city again.
    I was sad to see you didn't see much of Napier, as it's a great city, I lived there for 10 years. And 6 months ago the Hawkes Bay was hit with a catastrophic cyclone and wiped out the Esk Valley which is on the Napier Taupo highway.
    If you google Cyclone Gabriel you can see reports.
    I had to move because of it and now live in Whangarei.
    I'll send some photos of the finished Hunter Wasser building at the Town Basin. It was designed by the guy who did the toilets in Kawakawa.
    Thanks again Ian, it was a pleasure to have you here and if you return please look me up.
    Keep up good work and I'll have to get a Betty Tshirt.

    To keep track of vehicles, suggest you open a Word or Excel file for each. Include VIN, engine and other relevant numbers; items needing attention etc. Save to Google Drive or other cloud, that way you can access files on cell phone, laptop or desktop as needed. If you do not have Microsoft Office, which I don't, use Libre Office, which is FREE. Free is always good :)

    • @deanstevenson6527
      @deanstevenson6527 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ian Steele : To the Ians of this world. Everyone in the world needs to spend more time in Australia. Cruise ships are great to ease the problems of Jet Cloister. Australian Journalisn rules the world. The isles of Britain invented the four levels of humour which cascades into the Lawrence Pomeroy excellence of car description , but like cricket and gorse thicket, it goes and grows absolutely wild in the Great Southern Land. New Zealand has its stressors due to its I beam conrod mini Italy restrictions. Everything in GB is 4 hours. In NZ, fuel and weather and earthquakes can result in a shut down of hope in seconds after carefull planning....its very cruel. Australia is different, and its got a lovely feeling of silty age to it, missing out on Kiwilands unsuspecting West Coast Doldrums. Ive had my angony and ectasy. See this 13 minutes of being a dickhead. th-cam.com/video/F1VOnsYAAdI/w-d-xo.html
      For you all, a view of just how cruel a nice fang in the west coast can be. You the Hubnut Ian shared NZ, and after it almost slays you, you then mastered it. Promise yourself youll do it again in Australia, and have some fun. Talk to Steve Cropley and take some time to plan an adventure.

    • @Ian-Steele
      @Ian-Steele 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dean Stevenson : I’ve read this twice now and still don’t get what your comment means. Perhaps I’m just a baffled old pensioner but maybe you could explain it in a simple sentence. Regards.

    • @deanstevenson6527
      @deanstevenson6527 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ian Steele : Australia is less stressful than Nz. Australian jornalism evolved from the laid back but straight shooting Aussie lifestyle. Former Car editor in the 80s was Australian, and they are the missing links which show the English that they were largely on the right track. The Kiwi environment is more inward looking, and a lot more stressful. Travellers would do well to take some time and relax with an Aussie trip certainly better for your mental state..All in my opinion of course.

    • @Ian-Steele
      @Ian-Steele 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dean Stevenson : Thank you for explaining that. I have no connection with journalism and live in Scotland. I have relations in Australia and would love to visit them and see Australia and New Zealand one day.

    You comment on the 'lovely comments' but it seems timely to say thank you to you from all of us for bringing to us all these seemingly 'exotic' or quirky cars perhaps with particular mention the Ford model T on rails and the Duzgo (th-cam.com/video/49M1f14JoRo/w-d-xo.html). Not bans....there just wasn't any point of operating flights with most countries refusing entry to non citizens....plus some of our borders are still shut between states....QLD, SA, WA, NT and TAS...so that pretty much grounds domestic flights as well apart from limited flights between Sydney and Melbourne. But at least we haven't been imprisoned in our homes over here like the UK was for a while.

    It's certainly been an enjoyable adventure to see, and very well-timed, even if by sheer luck, that you had returned before the government locked things down, the antipodean side of motoring is certainly different from this side of the world, that's for sure, but yes, tinkering vids are certainly being looked forward to when things are calming down and you've more freedom to work on the fleet, wherever and whenever that may be, but no rush, keep your mind in good health and enjoy time with the new family... :)

    Hmm, I know a couple in Hobart by the name of Peter and Lorraine, wonder if it is the same couple. The Peter I know is a mechanic (worked with him in Hobart many decades ago), a car nut and a recently retired Transport Commission officer.

    I think lock down has affected us all mate - I was let go as of 1/5/20 - had so many plans to do stuff in the garden and house as looking for work in the immediate future seems daft....so far...nada, nix, nothing done...proper CBA. A lot of us will emerge blinking into the daylight and have to kickstart our lives again. Good luck !!
