    I just bought a 59 TR3. Looking up videos with racing mods in mind. This video got my heart pounding! Great race man!

    Love the lateral G meter. Otherwise known as Triumph key fob.

    That was great, Steve. I can't believe you passed the tow vehicle three times! They should have pulled that car behind a rock or a bush or something and just gotten the heck out of the way. You almost had the Marcos. Great competition and nice driving.

    Thanks, I was in the Crossle and that was great. I had fun trying to chase you down. The wind killed my speed out there. jeff

    Great video, Steve! This was my view on Sunday! Ken got around me twice and then lap after lap I got up along side him on T7-8 only to not make the pass stick in T9.

    Very well filmed. The sound reminded me of Le Mans with Steve Mc Queen.

    That was cool, especially, "...because he was still looking in his mirrors, probably." LOL
    Your engine is definitely not stock. What did you do to it?

    Looks like the Triumph could do with an Overdrive. The ability to split shift the gears could have made a difference .Also,I was surprised to see a merc 190SL, then another! .I work on those for a living and I know they are not the greatest sports car ever made,being as they are really just a 190 Mercedes ponton in a fancy dress.

    Nice run, a little more HP and you could have got past the Marcos.

    That’s a great session. You power seems to be between 4K and 6250? What engine set up is it.

      Thanks, it's got about 11 to 1 compression ratio and a special cam. This motor has a billet crank, Carillo rods, and twin SU Carbs. Aside from the expensive crankshaft, It's not much different than it was set up in the 1960's

      @@stevesgarageshow Only then a triumph crank broke at 5000rpm so not much difference!!!

    With standard 100 bhp, you drive the TR3A with a finger over there.
    With 200 bhp, it's another story : and you'll gain like 5 or 6 s per lap average. Only, so to say.

    What a strange combination of cars.

    • @spencercanon
      @spencercanon 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically, they are all supposed to be small bore production cars based on SCCA classifications, but a few stragglers were placed in the run group (like the Formula Fords).

    Did anyone else notice that the drivers belts were not over his HANS. No point in wearing a HANS if not done correctly.

    • @stevesgarageshow
      @stevesgarageshow  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'm glad you pointed that out. I discovered that my lap belt was slightly off center causing the shoulder belt to slide off of the HANS shoulder piece during the race! The problem has been resolved. If not for the video, I may not have noticed this issue. Thanks for watching

      @@stevesgarageshow Great Video. I have a TR3 that I'm trying to decide weather to restore or build a race car out of.
