It all depends on your point of view. For many years, I looked forward to hearing that on our yearly vacations to Wildwood. Can't imagine the boardwalk without it. One person's "annoying" is another person's nostalgia.
Wonder why she waited 50 years to decide to be compensated, in ways other than her accepting free tram car tickets. The article states she accepted (accepts?) them but usually gives away. If she did it as a favor for her then boyfriend who worked for the tram car owners back then, why come out now? Has she requested her voice be removed and no one complied? Did she sign a contract? As for the merchandise that used her voice, well, I do think that she should be compensated for that and shame on the manufacturer for not “paying” for all components of the toys in question. Contract = Offer + Acceptance
I wonder if she only recently realized-- or a lawyer helped her realize-- that, in light of all the legal questions of ownership and compensation that monetization on social media and AI are prompting, her voice is a part of her intellectual and/or personal property for which she has not given proper consent.
what was in her original agreement 50 years ago? if the tram company violated that agreement, there could be compensation. otherwise, the best outcome is to just agree replace it with a computer generated voice and call it a day.
I can see wanting to be compensated for retail items. But seriously... you want to sue now for 50 years of your voice on the tram itself? You should have done something about that YEARS ago lady. Smh.
Has anyone ever been fatally run over by the Wildwood tram? A 2yo was fatally run over by Ocean City, Maryland's boardwalk tram this past summer. That tram could have used some kind of repeating recorded voice like WW's tram.
Male announcer: The white zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only. There is no stopping in the red zone. Female announcer: The white zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only. There is no stopping in the red zone.
Why has it taken 50 years before she has asked for any more compensation ? 50 years. Although free rides for 50 years hasn't been any issue and she settled for 50 years of free ride compensation . What more is she asking for ? And who buys a toy that says and repeats "watch the trams car please" also side note any child that played that "Watch the trams car please" for more then 4 times in one day that toy would forever disappear or be voice DEACTIVATE real fast. Lol might even go to where ever Jimmy Hoffman is.
The plush toy thing is over the top and I think she deserves something for it. I kind of doubt they bought the rights to her voice or can present any kind of document whatsoever saying so.
She was paid to make the recording, that's it. She's owed nothing. Her kids and grandkids probably drained her of all her money now she wants a payout.
I want to be paid to, for hearing that year after year
😂😂😂
Yes!!!

@@RT82162 Yes, for sure 👍
I can’t believe she’s still alive…
Pay Her !
She should be compensated
But it should not have been done this way
Some extra tram tickets perhaps?

When you think of wildwood you think of her voice first then funnel cake."Pay the woman, please."😂

Totally agree she is NOT a. Victim.
I see the retail reason. That’s legit
100% family saw dollar signs and put her up to it. It’s not like she didn’t know they have been using her voice.
Don’t be naive and sound so blah
The problem is they started putting it on souvenirs like toy trams. I don’t blame her. Voice talent.
If she is owed for her work, then why not? The government does let people get by with free stuff unless it's some charity case.
She should get her fair share. 50 years, eh? And even the toy trams have her voice too? I say, pay the lady. - David, longtime Action News Viewer

thats ridiculous. She just a money grubber
So if the city made great profits off of your iconic voice, you wouldn't want a piece?
@@deepatterson1835 If she was paid after she made the voice recording then no, she's not entitled to anything.
The plush toy thing is over the top and I think she deserves something for it. I kind of doubt they bought the rights to her voice or can present any kind of document whatsoever saying so.
I mean if they use her voice in merch she should get a few bucks for that but not for the tram cars if she didn't agree on being paid.
Exactly

Lawyers suck but Trish Hartman Rocks ❤❤❤❤❤
My goodness she’s in her 80s. Pay her she is iconic.
She definitely should get a percentage of the merch.
Even free tram car tickets are too much. Crazy.
To be so sad. She no sign. She get no dime.
Where did you learn English? You're English is horrible.
Justice!!!
She's looking for a quick buck
Greed! It's the American way...
Capitalism. Same as all your favorite movies and music.
😮
So stupid. America is dumb.
