A few things: 1. The SBMM thing is a bit more complicated than the pros would lead you to believe, and that's mainly because I don't think they quite understand the issue themselves. To keep it short, the way SBMM works these days is different from how it worked previously. It's moreso engagement-based matchmaking than skill-based matchmaking. The system will basically predetermine if it thinks you should win or lose your next match, and sets the team balancing accordingly. There's a good video about it by Favyn that explains it in more detail. SBMM is necessary, but modern versions of it suck. 2. The SAW was hated because unlike other power weapons, the SAW has no counter-play to it. The sniper can 1-shot, but it has to be a headshot, it has a slow rate of fire, only 4 rounds before it needs to be reloaded, and the weapon is pretty difficult to aim with. The shotgun can 1-shot kill, but you need to be in very close range, and even it's not a guarantee. Rockets can 1-shot, but the projectile has a slow travel speed, and the explosion could accidently kill you or your teammates if you're not careful. The SAW is just aim and fire, and it just melts shields and health. There's even a technique you could do where you rapidly tap the trigger so you don't lose accuracy with the only cost being a very slight reduction in fire rate. The only way to deal with someone using a SAW is if you happen to have your own power weapon, and you're good at using it. 3. The issue with the Mangler is not that it's a 3-shot potential kill, in fact, people seem to like that about the gun, and another weapon in the sandbox that's also a 3-shot kill (the Stalker Rifle) doesn't get complaints about it. The issue with the Mangler is that you can kill someone with 1-shot followed with a melee attack. Considering the Mangler is a common spawn, and not considered a power weapon or a sudo-power weapon like the Bulldog and Heatwave are, it seemed overtuned. A lot of people still liked the weapon anyways, so I'm glad 343 unnerfed it eventually, and just made sure it didn't spawn in competitive matches. Makes both sides happy.
I kinda don't really want to reply, because this video basically explains why I don't want to talk to the Halo community anymore. But whatevs. 1. I don't know how SBMM works now-a-days, but even till today I see people who either want it loose enough to give them an unfair match, or they abuse the system to give themselves an unfair match. It makes them non-gamers really. 2. I have no experience with Halo 4 multiplayer as it was unplayable for me. I couldn't gauge any problems even if I wanted to. I just find it funny how selective people are about what's OP and not. I always had a problem with the sniper as it was too useful at all ranges. You can spam 2 body shots or use melee. 4 rounds aren't a problem because there's no penalty to reloading. I also find it funny about pacing shots with the SAW to increase accuracy at the cost of fire rate. Because that was a huge argument during Halo: Reach, with people saying it's worthless. So it's funny how that same thing became too beneficial. 3. Yeah, I know about the melee, but it's still ridiculous how people hate that weapon and not the Halo 1 Magnum that was the same, or using the Plasma Pistol to do the same thing, or any other weapon like the Spiker. If anything the real problem is the Melee system, especially when people demanded Melee have bleedthrough. The Mangler wouldn't be a problem if there was no Melee bleedthrough. I was more pointing out how hypocritical people were when it came to weapon balance. They want their preferred weapon that they're good at to have no negatives to it, and they don't care how strong other weapons are so long as they can always win with their preferred weapon. Meaning they will always win against n00bs who use other weapons, and if those n00bs use their weapons they'll always win. I'm always pushing for weapon balance across the whole game for any game really. I would even look at balancing the SAW and Mangler if I saw a problem with them. But since I don't care about Halo anymore I don't really care about their multiplayer states.
@@NeoKaiser0 1. Yeah, anyone asking for SBMM to be removed fully is just a prick wanting easy kills, or they're extremely uninformed and think 360-era games had much lower or no SBMM (which isn't true). 2. Halo 4's bloom system is tuned a bit differently from Reach's. When you start firing a weapon, it almost instantly goes from max accuracy to max inaccuracy, and it goes back down to max accuracy a lot quicker. It rewards you for pacing your shots a lot more than it does in Reach, but it's like they didn't balance the SAW properly around this. The SAW honestly wasn't the worst balanced weapon in 4 anyways, especially at launch. The Binary Rifle is a 1-shot kill sniper anywhere on the body. It's extremely inaccurate when not zooming in, and you only get 2 shots before needing to reload, but because H4 has no descoping system, there's not really any counterplay to it (the lack of descoping also making the regular sniper too strong as well). There's also the Boltshot, which was a weapon you could spawn with thanks to H4's loadout system. The regular fire is fine, but the Boltshot's charge shot turns the weapon into a shotgun...that everyone can spawn with. It completely broke the flow of matches, because behind any corner could be someone with a Boltshot waiting for you. The Boltshot got nerfed eventually, but the Binary Rifle is still around. It doesn't help that H4's weapon spawning isn't the same as other games with fixed weapon spawns. H4's are random, and the ordinance system let's players spawn in a random power weapon or power-up when they earn enough points, causing matches to snowball, especially if the other team randomly gets better weapons in their ordinance drops. H4 was such a mess of a game lol. The H1 Magnum was fine because it required skill to use. It takes 3 shots to the head to kill, but it takes 7 or 8 shots to the body. With body shots only, the Magnum has one of the lowest TTKs in the game. If the Mangler didn't have the melee thing, people would like it because it's also a skillful weapon to use. Not only does it take a lot more body shots to kill, but the weapon has bullet drop, meaning you have to take that into account at longer ranges. The PP takes time to charge, is loud (alerting other players that you're charging it), drains the battery as you're charging, and once fired, overheats. Infinite as a whole just has a sandbox balancing issue. The Mangler is just one of many problems. I could probably count the number of well-balanced Infinite weapons on one hand, everything else is overtuned, or annoying, or just fucked.
Woah this vid is actually great
