Convoluted FF9? Are you slow?

dont be too harsh on english adaptation of dialogue; in italian we still have english voice acting (square could not be bothered i guess) but italian subs and translation follows the japanese scripts to the letter, and boy its so cringe and unbereable to the point that makes you ashamed to play the game.

Convoluted FF9? FF9 to me was a masterpiece that has the aspects of the FF origins in its questline and combat system.

A few things: 1. The SBMM thing is a bit more complicated than the pros would lead you to believe, and that's mainly because I don't think they quite understand the issue themselves. To keep it short, the way SBMM works these days is different from how it worked previously. It's moreso engagement-based matchmaking than skill-based matchmaking. The system will basically predetermine if it thinks you should win or lose your next match, and sets the team balancing accordingly. There's a good video about it by Favyn that explains it in more detail. SBMM is necessary, but modern versions of it suck. 2. The SAW was hated because unlike other power weapons, the SAW has no counter-play to it. The sniper can 1-shot, but it has to be a headshot, it has a slow rate of fire, only 4 rounds before it needs to be reloaded, and the weapon is pretty difficult to aim with. The shotgun can 1-shot kill, but you need to be in very close range, and even it's not a guarantee. Rockets can 1-shot, but the projectile has a slow travel speed, and the explosion could accidently kill you or your teammates if you're not careful. The SAW is just aim and fire, and it just melts shields and health. There's even a technique you could do where you rapidly tap the trigger so you don't lose accuracy with the only cost being a very slight reduction in fire rate. The only way to deal with someone using a SAW is if you happen to have your own power weapon, and you're good at using it. 3. The issue with the Mangler is not that it's a 3-shot potential kill, in fact, people seem to like that about the gun, and another weapon in the sandbox that's also a 3-shot kill (the Stalker Rifle) doesn't get complaints about it. The issue with the Mangler is that you can kill someone with 1-shot followed with a melee attack. Considering the Mangler is a common spawn, and not considered a power weapon or a sudo-power weapon like the Bulldog and Heatwave are, it seemed overtuned. A lot of people still liked the weapon anyways, so I'm glad 343 unnerfed it eventually, and just made sure it didn't spawn in competitive matches. Makes both sides happy.

I never got into the original ff7 bc it was never my type of game but the new remakes really drew me in. I actually loved the first remake and just got rebirth and absolutely love it. The new series really turned me into a fan.

A true ff7 remake would have been these graphics on the original game..and i would have been satisfied! Just a graphics upgrade ... like metal gear solid 3 2025,the original game is still king regardless of its dated graphics and its ost is still the best

My only criticism is how you said FF8 is crap. I realize 8 is frustrating to figure out. But, by about halfway through my first playthrough, I had no trouble with it. I feel 8 is much more replayable than 7. It's so easy to break the game early on (if you choose to do so). The graphics and presentation are much better than 7. There is really only one required mini game that I can think of (the train game early on). The card game is probably the funnest non required mini game ever.

Final Fantasy, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 were the best games in the series. Final Fantasy Tactics also but it's more of a spin off. That was the golden era.

this game made me feel sour and frustrated about enjoying a good possible remake but Square is pushing the next remakes to milk their fanbase while changing a lot and getting out of touch in the process while playing pretend... what an awful experience the remake was... a real assassination to my favorite childhood franchise and to my fave boy, Cloud..

It's one of those reboot games where you can go focus heavily only the gameplay and ignoring the stupid story. Same case as DmC reboot.

So, Corneos 3 generals are NPC's that we become friendly with throughout the rest of Remake as well as Rebirth. Corneos 3 generals. 3 people who work for Corneo...we become friends with while also trying to kill Corneo and Corneo tries to kill us. Does anyone else see the problem there? You don't become a general without showing loyalty. Why was Chocobo Sam, the Geisha lady, and the depressed emo guy ever welcoming to Cloud? Makes no sense.

Thank you for bringing up the sunlight issue in the slums under midgar. There is no reason why Dhinra would ever add lights to recreate sunlight for the slums. Not to mention you can obviously tell that the light rays are coming from the sides, not the top. It's just such a dumb thing to do.

This whole thing has "cynical cash grab" written all over it. "if you make the story bad enough, you can sell a book that explains it!" "if the new story is just a bowl of narrative spaghetti, each noodle can be developed into a $70 game, just like kingdom hearts!" It's sad.

I'm more pissed about the gameplay. Final fantasy 7 is a videoGAME. The priority should have been to upheld the final fantasy legacy. These games are RPG, not square mashing action games.
