Got myself an xb9sx with jardine gp1 muffler on it and it backfires like crazy just idling. It didn't do this at the dealer I purchased from (of course). Gonna try tps reset, extracting fuel, replace with fresh and maybe seafoam and possibly change plugs. Also ordered buelltooth device because my thoughts are that it was never tuned. Also I'm looking for a stock muffler to be modified by hawk. I'm totally new to buells. Any advice on this issue?
James Melter Backfire could have several reasons e.g. bad ignition coil or bad spark plug (espescially after sever cold starts). A remote diagnosis is quite difficult, I can‘t imagine that this behaviour in idle is caused by a faulty remap. Check your fuelsystem and ignition first, maybe O2 sensor also ;-)
Ra Du thanks! My plan is to connect to ecm with usb dongle to read any information provided. I'm also going to drain and replace fuel with fresh 93 octane with some seafoam treatment added. I'll try tps reset and spark plug cleaning cycle. Next i will replace spark plugs. Also I'm looking for a stock muffler and mounting...not keen on this jardine gp1.
Any luck? Nothing except stock muffler buell race muffler or DnD cans will work. Everything else is nothin but trouble....... peace bro ride smart listen to me!
Knights2theEnd That‘s mostly caused by aftermarket exhaust systems and not correcting your injection- and ignition timing. Helped myself out with ECM-Spy ;)
can a 6' tall guy ride a 03xb9 comfortably ? my ride is a monster 79gl1000

I haven't ridden the blast before however the xb9sx isn't nothing too crazy in terms of power. Extremely fun bike.
I have the same bike. Do you feel a flat spot in the power band around 4.5krpm?
