My father was a wise man. He once said, a project is not complete unless you make three trips to the hardware store. You'd be amazed how true that really is. Love the videos!
Great video! I too was blessed with three amazing girls! My oldest, 17, is very proficient with a longbow, recurved bow and a compound bow as well as a handgun and rifle. My middle child, 6, has just been introduced to archery and has already fallen in love with it! My 3 year old….well that one has an arm on her already, might start her off with the hatchets…🤣😂 Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing.
Thanks. Yeah I couldn’t show the real fun stuff on here. 😉 I bought a semi auto bb gun with recoil so my younger girls could learn how to operate an AR here in the yard. My oldest goes to the range with me.
The oldest daughters draw length is a good bit too long for her. That’s the single biggest issue that will cause accuracy problems with any archer. There is a pdf on the internet called the nuts and bolts of archery that does a great job explaining proper draw length and form. Great video!
I so enjoy your videos, especially when your daughters are involved with your crazy...erm, i mean genius...projects. Brings fond memories of being my dad's grease monkey (and yes, monkey was my nickname too) and tool fetcher. Learned so much from him, and so cherish those time with him as I know your girls will too!
Young man, you are doing so right by those beautiful young ladies!!! My granddaddy always said there's a point in every project where you have to rethink and redo something (much like the 4x4 adjustment and green to brown paint)... That's what helps make you a real man! But those girls will, for sure, look back at these times and thank you for your foresight!!! Well done! That deserves two 👍👍!!! Take care, be safe and God bless!!
I'm so good with this channel operated by a real MAN! Proud of this fella for telling it like it is and with plenty of info to learn to boot. I'm certainly a loyal subscriber at this point.
I really love your videos, they teach me so much about everything from Tools to gardening. That being said, I started gardening because it calms me after working through lock down and home projects to try and put my 2 semesters of woodshop to use 😅 (40 yrs later). What I don't know is all the apocalypse and survival tips. Can you please give me some insight?
My woodshop skills are even older than yours, and I'm proud of both of us for building stuff! 😁 And I'm finding helpful videos by searching on terms like "survival crops", "food preservation", and "home security." (I live way out in the country, so those are my top concerns.)
Here I am the father of a 6 yr old girl. I see the title The Apocalypse and boyfriends...and I see your drawing and I immediately thought gallows....but I like the archery range setup anyway! Lmao
I love the fact (as well as find it quite ironic) that at the end while talking about your problems with intruders, and what you did about it, you happened to be holding 2 hatchets. Yeah, those intruders better watch out!
Hi Haxman! I was thinking today…how much I think I’d like to see Kim sharing about how she 1. Deals with you (😆) And 2. How she manages all the things she does like homeschooling the kids, helping with prepper stuff… You could call it “HaxWOMAN”. 😁 I’m sure that would create a huge burden for y’all for filming and such. This is super cool. My son has gotten into shooting bow and this target build may just be next on my "to do list". Great job teaching your girls these things and keeping that bar raised way high when it comes to a good man. I am trying to raise my two boys to be good men. Praying I do a good job.
You can buy nylon archery netting. They are light, can take the abuse of certain hunting tips and can be strung up just about anywhere using parachord or a thin cable; plus they are a soft capture so you don't have to worry about shoving the tip back into the arrow shaft. I use to hang mine on the washline. With some cheap carabiners and a bungie chord on one end to keep it spread open.
When I was a kid, we used an old room sized rug slung over a defunct swing set. Did the job for target points. We also used actual recurve bows, not all this fancy compound stuff they have now. 45# was about the best I could pull (I was 12.)

Consider the long spear(not the throwing kind) instead of a bow. It can be used as a staff or walking stick, used to keep a target at a distance, used to pin a target down, used to kill, and can be easily crafted, especially in the bush. Overall, better than a bow...
one flaw with your theory. If your girls were around my age Id be attracted to such a woman.
