Grass around the flagstone will look great...after you spend a lot of time weed whacking around them every week. Paver driveways look great also, until the weeds start growing between them. Then you have to constantly spray weed killer on your driveway. Choose wisely folks.

Haxman, you're channel ranks up there with Big Chief's channel. The fact that you have your entire family engaged is something to behold, and you gave me an idea for an outside movie screen also....thanks.....
I love the grass between the flagstone, so much so I did it at my house as well. One thing I didn’t plan on was the grass trying to grow over the flagstone (I have st Augustine). So I had to use the weed eater on each individual flagstone every few weeks and that got old really quick. So I killed the grass and went with mulch lol
Well, Haxman, you've outdone yourself-sounds like Possum Lodge level ingenuity! A hidden outdoor theater? That's the kind of backyard upgrade that would make even Red Green nod in approval. Just don’t let your neighbors borrow the projector unless they promise to return it with popcorn!
Haxman, you are so funny. You must keep your family in stitches. I wish i could have you for a week. My hubby died 3 years ago, after 37 years of marriage. We had good plans for our backyard, but i can't do it myself. I love your videos. Thank you, and keep them coming.

Dang Haxman! I just can’t get over how clever you are! Your family works hard right along side of you! They deserve the best! Living the dream. Sending blessings to you and yours!
I always lay down ground cover on the base of any path I build. Ground cover is a plastic fibrous material that acts as a weed blocker, preventing any weeds, grass or plants from growing on my paths. Weeds and other plants can also grow up through paths that are made using flagstone or pea gravel. Throwing down some strips of ground cover cloth will prevent any plant life from growing up through paths do not experience constant traffic. The only plants that will grow on pathways with an underlying ground cover base, are plants that grow from seeds which land on the path after it is finished. These plants are easily plucked up as the ground cover will also prevent their root material from gaining any depth into the underlying soil.
FYI… you can paint your PT wooden post with rubberized roof sealer (can even drop some green dye into it first) before burying it and setting concrete around it so it doesn’t rot… just make sure you seal it at least up to ground level (I prefer to seal 4”-6” higher) then seal the bare wood with a clear wood sealer too. (“Pergula” made me 😆, but the “rock speakers” playing “rock music” had me 😂🤣)
I bet you could find some metal plumbing flanges that would trim out the air inlet holes around the firepit nicely against the tile. Chrome might look nice, or brass. Brass would probably eventually patina to a more natural/earthy color.
This was such an awesome project. Love channels like yours and Ambition Strikes - always leaves you on the edge of your seat for next week’s progress reveal. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving Hackman and Co.!
I love you enthusiasm and Kim is a prize more valuable than rubies ❤️ I like the way you guys plan and replan throughout your project that’s reality not a perfectly choreographed show thanks for keeping it real and exciting ❤
That home theehator is a sweet piece of constructionery you have built there! digging the projector cover! To be fair everything you build is spot on! 🙌🔥
There are 2 reasons why I haven't done this in my yard. #1 the climate where i live would make it useless 10 months out of the year. #2 I've had to call the police several times to report noise violations from one of my neighbors on several occasions. I know they would call on me.
I bought a 180 inch projector screen from amazon and I built a wood frame to hang it out by my swimming pool... I use a projector/roku stick and out karaoke machine to play movies and sing karaoke on the big screen outside.
Farmers tip when transplanting or planting potted plants into the ground- pour water into the hole around the plant so that the roots will be drenched before you back fill the soil. Helps to protect the plant from shock.
you can set posts by filling the hole with #57 stone instead of concrete. it locks the post in tight, doesn't compact over time and will allow water to drain away from the post so as not to rot it. i learned this trick from an old timer years ago and i've been doing it this way ever since. works great.
Awesome show y'all! You & your wife work great together. Thank you for the new word of "booger hooks" that sent me rolling! I love it!! Y'all are fun and ..I learn new things. Clean good hearted fun wins every time! Bless y'all a ton!
As someone that's done granite & stone/tile work throughout my life... I was a little bit surprised that you didn't use some very thin tile spacers or shim-style spacers to keep things a little smoother in appearance... I noticed one tile in particular that appeared much more sunken than those around it (less mud on its backside???). The thin spacers can provide a better tile "float" from tile to tile without the need for grout or caulking, if you want to avoid that. I was glad to see that y'all spaced the base and managed to do that with some pretty dang good symmetry... I do love the usefulness of the cardboard from tile boxes! 😂 Otherwise, I really appreciate the explanations of the steps and the reasoning of steps, especially when you deviate from your "I would never, you should never" Haxman Rules for Dummies... Coming to a bookshelf near you soon!!! 😂 --> I did wonder if you grew that grass for sod? And if it was any particular type of grass? And if so, why you chose that type of grass??? Is some grass easier/better for sod cutting? For quickly acclimating to/growing in the area it's placed? Do you ever pre-treat or do anything special to the dirt to promote sod growth after it's placed? Really enjoyed this one! Heckfire, I don't reckon I've seen one yet that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed!
Thanks! I didn't grow that grass for sod. It was available to use so I went for it. 😂 There was no sod available near me and I figured this would do well since it was already growing well not too far away. Thanks again!
Awesome video as always Haxmaster and Haxfamily! I didn't personally like the tiles, but that doesn't matter, it is what you guys like and I appreciate that. Other than that, it was still fun to watch it 😃 The stone path came out amazing! That spider.. I would have moved to another country.. oh man..! And the pergola and outdoor theatre was just.. amazing! ❤ Fun video as always, love all Kim comments and all the bits in between, like the spider - even though I don't like spiders, but those snippets in between everything else.
