- The Chesapeake 1000 fitted with the Mighty Salvage Claw working to remove debris from the Baltimore Bridge Collapse Site.
This is a modified video from today's livestream sped up 20X to condense 4 hours of video into just over 12 minutes.
We over laid VHF radio transmissions from the livestream today to enhance the experience.

So much going on. Busy busy 😊
So much
Captain Andy? I was on the plane with you from BQK (my son in law is Colby Bond?) I am the one that was going to Milan? I made it!
Cap’n Andy: don’t sweat the audio details. Your videos Are more than enough to keep us updated on the Salvage process. No need to apologize for production issues. Your presentations are the best!!!! Thanks so much.
I've discovered my smartphone has a volume control.
👍🤓
Thank you Andy for your dedication in bringing us updates on this tragic event. Stay safe. C x
I’m still amazed at how massive the span is. Those aerial basket lifts are big but look so tiny compared to the Dali and truss section. Thank you for showing us how complex and dangerous this salvage and cleanup effort is and highlighting those workers who are helping.
Came here on a rec from JeffoStroff's channel, and I am glad I did. This video REALLY shows the coordination of the various ships, crew, engineers and all of the other personnel required to clear out the debris and restore a safe passage for shipping in the channel.
So relieved that they were able to recover another lost soul from the channel and return him to his family and loved ones so they can start their recovery and closure process...❤😢
YES ! This time-lapse, even delayed a day, is most effective. In the real time I could not discern the dance of the scow back and forth like a sewing machine shuttle, backing away to allow the claw with its relatively limited mobility to operate, pull up a load, then the scow moved forward allowing the claw to deposit the load. That was beautifully evident in this video. Well done !
Thank you very much! This was to be uploaded yesterday afternoon, but a glitch at TH-cam slowed processing until the early morning hours.
Thank you for spending all day filming and speeding it up 20x.
Great video to be a mile away from the action and the live stream was neat also.
We are watching from Missouri . Thankyou Lord for finding another Person our hearts grieve for the families.our 6 year old grandson has taken areal interest in all the cranes working there.praying for a safe operation there
Thank you Captain Andy. Wonderful video, clear audio, awesome editing and narration of events going on. Blessings. Sherry 🥰 🙏 💞 🚢
You are so welcome
At 5:24 shows the removal of the large piece of the bridge that was hanging on the starboard bow of the Dali. You can now see the extent of damage to the ship.
I saw that too. The Weeks crane had been strapped to it for a couple of days. I presume they stabilised it while it was cut free from other material. Then while we were watching the claw in foreground, they sped off with it at the back.
You are right, I’ve been watching this entire series on an 85” screen. This is much better than anything on tv.
Great sync of Crane Operators, Tug Captains, and all others. Another great video update! Thank you very much!
Thank Capt. Andy
the leading yt'r for dealing with anything in the US in marine salvage
Bringing us the sights & sounds of the operations
You're too kind
@@MinorcanMullet Kind..not really..just telling you what we all know about you & your channel
8:15 😂The boom lift to the right of the structure with the guys in the basket really demonstrstes the scale of the job
Thanks Andy!!! and team!! Could see things I missed seeing when live.
Thanks so very much for the higher resolution video and the high quality zoom footage.
Thanks for watching!
Very clear, and can hear at least some of the background radio. Thank you!
You're welcome!
Literaly the best video and audio comentary of this project. Dont need to appologize for weather. Thanks for providing us with fhis
Much appreciated!
great coverage as ever Captain Andy, having the footage speeded up works just as well and still shows the importance of the work to be taken with so much care - as i have said before, its one thing to build a bridge, maneuvering such huge pieces into place, its a totally different ball game to disassemble some thing so huge in a safe manner when every part sits at such crazy angles than it was designed for - there is a certain irony in some ways that it was a pretty strongly constructed bridge, its just a shame the two central piers weren't of heavier construction and with more adequate precautions and guards at the base - perhaps other bridges that might be at similar risk will be addressed in the light of larger ships on the seas today
Thanks for the recap at a faster speed! It looks really good!
Glad you like it!
Amazing report Andy. Absolutely fantastic coordination and skill in those lifts. Thanks Tyger and Teresa for your expertise. Thanks Rob and Robin for the great vantage point. Stay safe and healthy.
This view is magnificent. I watched yest until the feed stopped.
I feel so very bad for those who have to clean up this mess being away from their families for the duration of this disasterous cleanup ..man your patience is awesome by all who participate here god speed and stay safe ppl
Expect they are paid pretty well, and will have something to talk about.
A Herculean effort by all concerned! Thanks for doing this!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Cpt. Andy, keep up the good work. I'm going over to the live stream.
Watching all the time in Ireland 🇮🇪
The video was great , it was clear & audio was perfect. I could see the barge backing up for the claw to unload onto to. Also the clamshell in the background was very busy. Thank you for sharing with us.
Cool, thanks
Great footage! Was looking to see video captured of a full operation. I see tugs manipulate both a debris barge and the Chessy to drop the salvage. Wanted confirmation of how they handled the operation with the stiffleg derrick.
Another excellent video. Watched it in real-time yesterday. Love this sped up version more
I enjoyed the video speed it up much more. I guess we’re just a bunch of inpatient people. Thanks for what you do.
Thanks for watching!
May God comfort the families of those who lost loved ones. My sincerest condolences. Many thanks Captain Andy for your hard work in bringing these videos to us.
Wow! Such great video coverage. Was neat to see the men on the right in the bucket cutting. Thanks for all your great work.

Brilliant display of this delicate operation! Thank you for sharing!
Many thanks!
The video images are crisp and clear Andy Thank You.
You're very welcome
Like to see longer videos thanks keep up the good work
Andy,
Nice time-line video speed-up, really shows progress.
Also the singing of ,what I believe are Baltimore Orioles, in the background is a nice touch.
Good intro than the one you have to your video 📹 and not copyrighted 😮😂😂.
Big as the claw is, it looks small compared to the remaining bridge segment. Thanks for posting.
Great edit. They got the big piece off the Dali bow. Great progress.
Great job with this! (I watched all of your golden ray coverage btw)
I repeat, your videos are excellent. I thank you.
Your videos are spot on. Great work. 👍
Thank you! 👍
Baton Rouge, La. here. Enjoy your videos!
Awesome! Thank you!
I saw this from Ft McHenry last week. But it was a long way off. Your footage is fantastic, thanks, from East TN.
Captain 🧑✈️ Andy. #1 Thank you Sir 🙏🏼Prayers to all the workers and their families. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I never actually saw it since I was on watch in the engine room but my ship in the Navy passed under the Key bridge in 1984 when we visited Harborside during Harborfest in Baltimore.
Thank you ! Your coverage is awesome. The speed up makes it more understandable what’s going on
You're welcome!
Awesome Video Capt. Thank you so much from Myrtle Beach
I'm from Wales. Great video mate. Very interesting to watch. I'd love to be there to see it
Thank you very much!

Thank you for all u do in bringing us updated 💝 from California 🙏🌹✝️🌹🙏
Awesome video my friend loved the weeks crane dancing on the right side
Overwhelming force over the immovable object. Impressive.
Great coverage!
Much better sound today.

Heavy duty clean up. Very interesting thank you so much
audio is perfect thank you!
I can hear nice and clear thanks
Thank you. So fascinating
Amazing how fast they work,
Great video! When are they going to remove the bridge from the Dali! Thank you for all your time and energy!
2:10 diamond wire saw being hoisted out of the way by Resolve's RMG-400 crane
Yay, Chessy and the claw!
Loud and clear, thanks
Great to hear!
That mockingbird is happy! We have one here where i live singing the same song, lol.😀
There we go. Solid progress.
great work brother
excellent video!!!! thank you!!!!!
I was wondering how the claw was going to work because the Chessy 1000 doesn't swing. I thought they would lift something and then have to push a barge under it to set the load down. Today's video shows exactly that.
The larger claw has an official nickname - GUS.
Thank you for another great video!
Thanks for watching!
Nice work man thanks. Are they working 24-7? I don't know if it would be a pain in the a*s but a stiched togegether time lapse wood be Kool. Thanks!
Great job!
Thank You for doing a good job.
Thanks for watching!
Amazing video
GREAT Job THANKS...
Yes the audio is coming through really well
Clear version good sound
I see two guys on a crane looking over the site.
Live on a project like this won’t be action packed. But I’ll be anxious to look at your high res vid. That’s where we get the meat and potato’s. Tiger, and MN mod’s, thank you!
The little crane swings 10 times for only a foot of cable movement on the big crane!
Watched you everyday
Thank you for these videos. If possible, can you put a date on the video?
Wow an entire City of Cranes has arrived. Who isn't working on this quite suddenly?
Sounds fine to me, thank you.
Looks good
Newport News, Norfolk Station and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard always have large dredging operations going on.
Do not let that ship leave until the bill is paid for cleanup and replace of the new bridge
I think the company has gone bankrupt several million ago.
I set resolution to the highest number, and was zooming to see the cherry picker crew, their inspection of the large trusses. There was some kind of video edge effect happening. My guess is video processing added the effect, and no amount of high resolution would enhance the image. So I dropped back down to low resolution, as the experience was identically same. I'm not sure the high res is doing anything, if the video is processed, but I'm not sure if that's a correct assumption.
5:27 - 533 finally getting to flex!
