Those boards with the rotten center can always have the centers cleaned up and filled with various colored epoxy for table tops. Keep up the great work. It's looking great.
You take out that bit of rot on the huge boards and fill with some epoxy resin you’ll have great top boards for counters, tables, shelves and what have you… having a good time watching 👌👍 thanks for posting!!🪵
Right on Kyle, thanks for the update and poplar is going to be perfect for the furniture! I was just thinking last night we hadn’t heard from you in a bit. Great to see Bush Camp again. Cheers from NB.
You're puttin in some serious work and gaining knowledge (and sharing). THE TRUE TEACHING DESIRE SHOWS! Leaders go places that others don't or won't and send back maps! True leader! 👍 MUCH RESPECT MAN! MUCH RESPECT! THANK YOU!
I started the same way milling lumber bought the same thing for my chainsaw works good for a little bit nothing to build with i just bought a woodmizer lx 25 and now im building a cabin with it and got a shop, woodshed, chicken coop to build with it and building all cabinets and furniture and all the finishing inside the cabin highly recommend the woodmizer xl 25 pays for it self especially building a cabin and everything with it
That is turning out to be some good looking boards. The oregon chains are made here at the Blunt factory. They say the ripping chain makes smoother boards. I think you were right to put the stones on for keeping the boards flat. When I see you cooking bacon I'm jealous. Glad to see the rifle always close. Good video. Pax.
Man of Many Talents has a new video out👍 It’s quite obvious the amount of knowledge you have gained Milling👍 Bugs must be atrocious: Mosquitoes, Black flies and Ticks… darn things….. Be waiting for your videos of furniture building!! Have a good Canada Day Weekend 👍 B Deacon Manitoba Canada 🇨🇦
For “just learnin” your doing one hell of a job on mill my friend! Looking very DEADLY and I’m so stoked to see what you have in store for us in the future!!
Wise choice to go with sthil. I was a logger for 25 years and it was the most Widely used saw for low maintenance and reliability. I logged in Alaska for 10 years and all of sawmills I saw up there 99% of Them used sthil.
Would love to see you get a bandsaw mill. With the way your work ethic is, you could make a serious amount of high quality dimensional lumber in short order
Awesome job and pretty lumber. I sawmilled 33 years filing saws. It doesn't matter what size mill or the equipment in it or not you always start with a round log and make it square first. Good thing you like running saws and doing hard work. Work safe.
A serious recommendation. I notice that you do a lot of chain saw work at your hip height. I would like to suggest you wear a cod piece (cup) like the baseball guys wear should your chain fail. Protect the jewels Kyle. Out there if something happened you could bleed to death ... but any catastrophe like that would be very serious. Any abdomen or thigh related. Just a little amount of prevention like that would be priceless if something happened. Love your vids and please keep them coming. J
Hey buddy things are coming along real nice. Look out using wet stickers to stick wood, it will blue stain your wood. Hard to get out. I learned the hard way. Still your the hardest working young man on TH-cam. Keep it up friend. 👍👍
Love your videos you say your learning but you have a no nonsense way about your way of doing things Love it You think things thru no bs nice boards couldn't make out what your spraying on them but the rot may stop where it is so you can get the most yeald out of your lumber.
I meant to tell you. Buy an eye cup and some sterile water at the drugstore. Fill the cup, put it to your eye and tip back. Blink a couple of times and bingo, the sawdust is flushed out. Tip forwards and you're done. No rubbing is a better way to clear the dust out and it's quick. Pax.
There’s a guy his TH-cam channel is called surviving ringworm…. He’s a chainsaw milling son of a gun! Builds all kinds of stuff… he’s in the upper peninsula of Michigan. Lots of pine milling and some hardwood milling. Maybe a good resource for you for information. Keep on killin it! Stay deadly man!
What a great collection of lumber :) If you do end up with some boards that are slightly warped or curved, just flip them over & let them flatten out a bit. As for blue-gray stain, (mold) a mixture of water & Clorox bleach sprayed on the lumber will fade it well. It's nice to see you happy & excited about your new projects & looking forward to watching what you do with it all. 👍🙂
looking awesome man. i always wanted to just go mill some wood out in the bush. used to run my own firewood company and just fucking around and chopping wood all day was some wicked fun.
Awesome job with the chainsaw mill, albeit slower and a little harder to handle than say a WoodMizer. Great way to get started, practice, get a feel for it, and have fun. The lumber is great looking, I'm sure it'll make great things! Love what you're doing ❤️
Tripped me up dude.i go without T n I for what seems forever, then I get two in a row.thanks.excellent stuff ,niebour old timing Alberta guy enjoying watching..
Looks good man. You can never go wrong with a big Stihl. Love mine. The only thing I have problems with is when it's really hot outside it doesn't like to start right away after it's been started once. There is learning curves with everything you do in life. Experiencing it is the best thing. Love the content man.
All chainsaws will flood if you choke on start in warm and especially humid weather. My stihl has done it two times. There's videos on how to easily clear the flood.
Loved to see you did a video. Miss you when you don't post one. The milled wood looks beautiful. Alot of work though. Can't wait to see the furniture you make. Hopefully I can buy a piece of furniture from you. Anyhoo see you on the next video.
Hey, love watching this new project. I also watch Surviving Ringworm on TH-cam and he mills the same way. He's pretty creative and has some pretty good content on milling. His past few weeks is milling to build a winter cabin. Can't wait to see your creations!
Found your videos the other night. Subscribed right away. I enjoy seeing a fellow young Canadian given’r $hit. Good stuff. Was just up to my hunt camp for a work weekend with a few guys a week ago. Nothing like time at the camp. I don’t think you’d regret if you switch to Sthil. All companies have cheaped out but Sthil seems to still make a decent saw. My dad, brother and I only use Sthil for our saws, yard equipment like hedge cutter and weed eaters etc. Dad’s a hard man on equipment and he’s never had issues with his Sthil chainsaws or quickcut saws.
glad to see it's fullsteam a head for you as usual ,very much liked seeing your rifle stretched out on the bipod , all of you guys must stick together that crazy homer in office wants all your rights ,stay safe
I love watching you learning new things and you do well at it. I appreciate the teachings you give as you go. Very inspiring my man. Much love From Ontario
Was waiting weeks to catch a T&I video now I get 2 within a few days. Saweet boys I can't believe how simple this mill works. Want to make my own now. I've had this 48" stihl sitting on the shelf I got as a payment from a tree guy for a few years. You're inspiring me to put it to use
Hey buddy how are ya. Man i love the channel. I wish I could of done what you are doing at your age. I’m an old guy now retireded and live in the woods. I run a portable sawmill and love it. I saw mostly Ponderosa pine and cedar. It’s a great business hard work but I love it. Thanks for sharing and I do wish you the best take care buddy and I’m looking forward to the next video!!
The granberg ripping chain is noticeably faster than others I've tried. I was milling ash boards from 10 inch logs and I'd say about 2 minutes per cut, but have to resharpen after each log.
Brought in the middle is called punky aunt and the the middle of the log is called the pith and that's usually where you get your punkiness because it's it's not as dense of wood it's the very first growth
I use a regular chain sharpened to 5 degrees on my chainsaw mill. Never found a ripping chain worth the extra money, over a 5 degree regular chain. But once you get the hang of sharpening them ,you can cut smoother than a bandsaw mill
Love your channel. Have you checked out surviving ringworm. He has chain saw milling down. I just set up a bandsaw mill and love it. Best wishes with your adventures. Can't wait for your next video.
Hey, I just want to say that I really enjoy watching your content and it has helped me get through some rough times this past winter. Do not give up on Husqvarna just yet. That’s a mid grade saw you have just like Stihl’s farm boss line. Definitely not designed with milling in mind. The pro models may impress you of both brands although the costs become much higher. And for milling, go big or go home. The term ‘there is no replacement for displacement” is common in the chainsaw users world. I own 2 Stihl pro grade saws and bought them both used. I will not pay what they want for new. I actually liked Dolmar and have 4 of their saws but unfortunately they stopped production of gas powered saws this past March. Best of luck and I suffer from CAD which is chainsaw acquisition disorder. Be careful, it’s contagious! Can’t wait for the next video!
Love the channel, keep it up! I've been chainsaw milling for the last few years and I'll start by saying I'm jealous of your available standing timber and the milling workstation you built....awesome!! IMHO poplar is an underrated wood. The contrast between the white wood and knots is quite striking. I've salvaged a lot of large slabs that had rot, checks, bark inclusions, etc by using a 2 part epoxy. Add some dark stain to it while it's being mixed and then fill in the damaged areas. My experience with the milling part: saw power has the biggest impact on speed and cut quality followed by chain sharpness and then chain design (cross cut vs ripping chain). Saw power bar far outweighs the other 2. Nice job setting up your drying station too. Nothing like getting mother nature to do some of the work for free! Good idea to weigh things down. I've used inexpensive ratchet straps around slab piles to prevent warping. Works very well.
Heard somewhere that if you angle the tip of your saw slightly ahead during the cut, instead of running perpendicular, makes the cut a lil smoother and helps pull the saw along. Just relaying hearsay. Keep the vids coming, me n the misses love watching. Been at it since your "Old Milwaukee" days.
ijust remembered put something on the ends of your lumber while it is drying. latex paint linseed oil whatever just something to prevent the ends from drying too quickly. they will check baddly otherwise.
Fantastic milling video!! I learned a few things!! I have the same mill as you and we are going to start some milling this year at our property. Thanks for making this helpful video!
Popular is a beautiful work just remember one thing when it dries it’s hard as hell we used to use it for draft horses floor in the barn but it’s a different type of wood it’s almost like a soft wood dry dries upIt’s hard as hell
It's never a bad day when Traplines posts a new video
I actually look forward to his videos. He uses his brain and problem solves. That's what makes him rock
Amen
Young man your one of a kind person don’t ever let this nasty world take that from you
Those boards with the rotten center can always have the centers cleaned up and filled with various colored epoxy for table tops. Keep up the great work. It's looking great.
You have the talent to build a bandsaw mill. It would be a great project.
Fastest 27 minutes ever, Graet Video!! Very proud of you and your ethics. Super Human Being!!
TOP JOB, UK
you always amaze me🎉
brilliant move to mill you own lumber in today's economy!
right on 🎉
Have a good weekend.
Having watched these videos for years, Traplines is literally the reason I moved to Canada. The inspiration is unreal
You take out that bit of rot on the huge boards and fill with some epoxy resin you’ll have great top boards for counters, tables, shelves and what have you… having a good time watching 👌👍 thanks for posting!!🪵
Yes, plywood makers do a similar thing with their lower C/D 3&4 grade panels - fillers & puttys.
Right on Kyle, thanks for the update and poplar is going to be perfect for the furniture! I was just thinking last night we hadn’t heard from you in a bit. Great to see Bush Camp again.
Cheers from NB.
My vote is that Norwood sponsors you and gets you lined up with their best band saw mill!
You will not get disappointed with the Stihl chainsaw

Breaks my heart because I've always been a Husky guy, but there quality is going downhill just like everything else nowadays
You are learning a lot and making good decisions on your lumber milling.
Milling with a 455 rancher is like drag racing a stock vw beetle.. still did a heck of a job bud. 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Your right there boy it is nice to be able to cut your own lumber when you need it instead of buying it 💯💯💯💯💯👍🏽
Quite a blast to watch and learn, education in blue collar activities is always the most useful tools in life!!
Would love to see you get a bandsaw mill. With the way your work ethic is, you could make a serious amount of high quality dimensional lumber in short order

It’s really beautiful out there! Would love to do that myself. That type of lifestyle. Simple.
T & I University… Bachelor of Science in Lumberology. Congratulations!

thats what I tell the ladies; chainsaw accident.
I've had a chain fall off multiple times, never break but jump the bar. No issues chaps or no chaps. A chain breaking is highly unlikely.
I was just thinkin earlier today its about time for another traplines n inlines video. Thanks for sharing!
Sure made the best of what you had to work with there. Any way you look at it , milling lumber is a lot of work for sure.
Hurry back with another vid Kyle. Lovin your vids.
Thank you Kyle, always appreciate hearing from you my friend 👊great video as always, stay safe and take care 🙏 ✌️
Hey buddy things are coming along real nice. Look out using wet stickers to stick wood, it will blue stain your wood. Hard to get out. I learned the hard way. Still your the hardest working young man on TH-cam. Keep it up friend. 👍👍
Beautiful color it going to be absolutely luxurious for furniture or house 🏠 when stain it it going to be a eye 👁 popper.

It was a Borax solution, to keep bugs away.

I heard Canadian gov was trying to make it to where Canadian TH-camrs videos don't get seen. Love the channel
They want to make sure you're Canadian to pop up in Canada. It doesn't matter for the US watching them.
Pure Legend.
Love your videos. You’re so positive and work hard. I’ve enjoyed your journey. Thx for sharing.
Well ya have plenty of sawdust to use for a composting toilet I tell ya lol 😂 Good looking lumber man 👍👍👍

Glad I read the comments first. I was going to suggest Surviving Ringworm also. He's made some beautiful structures in the UP of Michigan.
Hey Bud, love your videos try Grandburg milling chains on your saw there for milling.
