You hit a home run here. I'm 53 and I used to LOVE Grady. Wouldn't he have been in his 40's rather than 50's if he was born in 1930? Either way, I wouldn't have guessed he was that young. I loved Aunt Esther too. The characters on that show were so convincing.
My parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles are buried at Forest Lawn. I knew "Grady" was also buried there. I just didn't know his grave was that close to my family's. I'll pay respect next time I'm down there. Great blog Jordan!
Sanford and Son was one of my favorite citcom shows growing up in the 70s . Grady also had a small part in the Movie Boyz n Hood. Thanks Jordan for bringing back some old memories from the past.
I absolutely loved this vlog! We used to watch Sanford and Sons when I was a kid and Grady was my favorite! I really appreciate all the work you put into these incredible videos! ❤
So glad you talked about him. I grew up watching Sanford and Son and Grady was always my favorite character on the show. When you realized Grady was in the episode’s storyline you just knew it was gonna be great.
I haven't seen any Sanford & Son since they originally aired back in the 70's. I was pretty young, but I remember Grady! I remember laughing belly laughs watching him!! I dont believe I got any of the jokes, but I think I was laughing at my Dad who was laughing at Grady. Thanks for the memories, Jordan! 👍👍 Papaw 🙏
Thank you! for sharing this about actor a.k.a Grady. He definitely was one of my favorite actors growing up. His show “Grady” can be watched on Tubi. R.I.P. Whitman Mayo Jr. 🫶🏽
Good Goody de Goo. One of the greatest catch phrases of all time. My favorite Grady episode is Cousin Emma. She promised them a big breakfast and the next morning she didn't do anything. I like the part when Emma is coming down the stairs walking crooked but she can sit straight.
Thank you for doing this! I saw the picture pop up on this video saying “Grady!” and his picture and I immediately knew who it was! He was great on the show, along with LaWanda Page (Aunt Esther). I watched it as a kid, and my family would just howl laughing at this show! What an amazing man in his personal life, being a counselor. He had the absolute most kindest eyes-he seemed like a sweet and kind man. ❤
Hello Jordan Grady is buried in the same graveyard as My Dad I found his grave last month and paid My respects to him I met Grady one time at FedEx the girl that works there introduce me to him he was there dropping off a package he was very nice Guy ❤ Jordan me and My Brother follow you and love All your videos 💖 We live here in Atlanta and want to meet you My friend. I LOVED Grady!!!! The lady who played Aunt Ester(Lwanda Page) she & Redd Fox went to school together. When she was trying to get in the business,Redd told her she should be on his new show...and that's how she got on "Sanford & Son".
Great video! Been binge watching S&S for the last month! "Your'e not gonna keep that extra social security check are you Grady? well no i'm going down to the bank right now and cash it" !!! LOL!
Thanks Jordan. Grady was always my favorite! I remember the salad episode, too priceless! Surprised you didn't mention Sanford was Redd's real name, and Fred was the name of his father and Brother.
They did that with a few of the characters! Bubba was Bubba Bexley... played by Don Bexley! Many of the cast were real life friends of Redd Foxx! That's why the chemistry was SOOOOOO GOOD!! Thank you Jordan! Your show brought back memories of my 4th grade teacher (Mrs. Lord R.IP.) who loved to watch Sanford and Son which is why I started watching it. I am now 64 however it brings back great memories. Do you have any information on Gregory Sierra who played Julio the neighbor who raised goats? If not, no worries. As Bob Hope would say, "thanks for the memories"!
This was Great! Man was he funny and such a natural. So cool to hear that he taught acting. What a fun class that must of been. Nice to hear about his son's career as well. Thanks for including some of his scenes for us to watch. Love that you couldn't find anything bad about the man. Grady was our favorite character and we watched him on every show he did. You are so right about his show...it just didn't work. Sad they didn't try to rework it so that his humor could show thru. Thanks Jordan!
11:09 That’s Lawanda Page a.k.a “Aunt Esther” Ooooh glory! 🤣 Yet Red Foxx did star in a film with Della Reese called “Harlem Nights” along with comedians Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, Charlie Murphy, Thomas Ford.
