    By the time little Francoise is playing with the snow on the frame of the car door I was sobbing so badly in the movie theater in 1965 (I was 17) I couldn't even get up to leave the theater. The film was one of those defining events in my young life. I'm so pleased to see Rosalie Varda Demy had played the part. I didn't know. Bravo to all......for the restoration of this genius beauty.

    I saw this film in 1965 on its release. Wonderful. I have it on DVD and have watched at least once a month since. Love it.

    Beautiful restoration capturing the radiant youth of these two lead actors and boy do the set decoration COLORS come alive!. Thank you for keeping reviving these classics for the future.

    I had forgotten the snow. I was too wrapped up in the faces, the poignancy, the remoteness of the daughter from the daddy... a forecourt, and a lifetime away.
    I think it was this film that finally pushed me into learning French.... (Duolingo)

    This video made me aware of this film and I have to thank you so much for it. It is definitely one of the most beautiful romance films I have ever seen. It really hits hard.
    And now looking back at the old versions, I have to commend your work at the new restoration, it was a true pleasure to watch and listen to. Beautiful, beautiful work.
    Thank you!

    The restoration is outstanding, but I always considered that stabilization of footage even in still shots were not well achieved. In the trailer you can see many shots where the image is shaking notoriously.

    Best things about this film are the song, the colours and Anne Vernon as Geneviéve's Mum - well fitter than Catherine Deneuve.

      I agree on that little clip about her coat, but watch same clip again and see that Catherine's whole face and hair and other important parts are actually quite more saturated in the "restoration" even though the mothers red coat is desaturated. For me this is the best film ever made and Demi the best film maker (with about ten others not far behind, but none with the guts or imagination or dare I say gayness, using the old meaning of the word having nothing do do with sexual [dare I say today] perversion). But regarding that mothers red coat, they should have left it saturated, that is the whole point of this best of all Jacques Demi films.

  • @LouisEmery
    @LouisEmery 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2
