Z, you should really get some of your friends to join you in this, because you can each establish separate colonies and trade resources with each other, allowing you to get access to stuff from far away without having to go super far to find it.
That would be fun
For Berry Farmers, you should go with either 3x7 or 5x5 areas. They don't profit from a bigger area, so making it as small as possible is the best one.
Other farmers later on that actually reap the things they plant (like wheat and such) need a big area, but Berry Farmers only "collect" from the bushes and those are always "full", so no need for a bigger size.
Btw. Tree-Size is imho 9x9 the best size because it gives you 9 trees with the smallest footprint for 9. And they grow and need to be chopped down by the colonist, so big size is good, but no point in making it bigger than 9x9.
And for wheat?

When you're in the smelter you can select one to "1" and the other to "2" (there's 5 numbers above the amounts of stuff you can make.) Click on "2" to make a new group, and set it to infinite mud-stone, make sure you have enough other resources because one can affect the other!
Really cool game, I got it myself recently, and working on defense right now!
I personally have always made an artificial island to get an easy choke point, interested to see how this develops!
Also, not sure how far in the game it is but I would recommend getting a trading job to make getting dirt and stuff easy and automatic.
27:50 the setting per building are global but there are groups you can assign with the 1,2,3 tabs at the top left. That's how you can make some buildings focus on one thing and another building on the other

Most efficient layouts:
Berry farm = 5x1x5 with chest in the middle, they only need 8 bushes to make meals
Wheat Farm= 10x1x10, let them plant the full field then break half the field at night
Forestry = 3x1x11, foresters only plant if there is a 3x4x3 available for each tree
Beds only need 1 side exposed to be used
There are numbers above the bars for each job to specialize
Pls do a series of this its a legendary game

If I remember correctly most efficient sizes for foresters are 3*11 and Berry farms are 5*5. As well as digging a moat for a defensive structure it's cheaper than a wall and i you can dig it around the location you haven't claimed and they won't spawn in the trench because they can't make it a way towards your flag
It’s good you eventually moved closer to the water, later when you need water and fish it’s wayyyy more efficient to have them get it from actual water than the in land sources available
The flat plateau with the steep cliffs across from the cheery blossom trees was the nicest spot, because then you get a view of the pink trees across the water.

If you haven’t changed it, you can press G on your keyboard, and it will make you light up with the same amount of light distance as a torch so you don’t have to hold the torch

When it comes to berries, you should create 5x6 if I remember correctly. Farmers 10x10. Foresters 33x3 (or was it 36x3? what ever maximum distance was with 3 wide).

Actually you could just close some jobs and open more berry farmer jobs, applies for jobs that require urgent need of items (eg. weapons) too.

Sad to see just how much "inspiration" they took from minecraft. At this point it looks more like a bad minecraft rip off.
Parts of the terrain generation, multiple trees are the exact same block for block.
The underground resources.
I can see how its trying to be its own game, but i would have liked less "inspiration" and more "creativity" more "original ideas".
