I'm not saying Ukyo isn't important (their entire thing up until this point was to do this with no casualties), but if I were in Tsukasa's position, I'd take the opportunity to attack them while they're trying to help Ukyo. It's just smarter to focus on Tsukasa and the threat he poses, which means thinking about how to take him and his friend out now that they're down their gunpowder. If they can keep him focused on them while someone else helps Ukyo, so much the better. But worrying about Ukyo at all is low priority, and not even because he's no main character. What I'm basically getting at here is that it's not so much the loss of the chemicals itself, so much as it is about what to do about Tsukasa now that they no longer have their ace in the hole...and he's staring them down, ready to take their lives at this very moment.

Senku here is referencing an old buddhist story where the Buddha lowers a single spider's thread down to hell to allow a sinner to climb his way up to paradise. Halfway up the climb though, other souls tried to begin climbing the thread behind him, and the sinner cries out that the spider's thread is his alone, and the spider thread breaks and they all fall back down to hell. That not only makes this speech more badass, but it's true to Senku's character, as he only got as far as he did by sharing his thread of science with others and using it to benefit them so they can help him back, rather than trying to use the power he has to rule over others like Tsukasa, and would have indeed "fallen back to hell" had he not benefited from the help of those like Taiju and Yuzuriha to revive him, without even mentioning the various other times he nearly died, but managed to live on due to the help of others.

True... it was pretty clear since ep.2 that Senku is pretty helpless on his own. He only started making real progress once Taiju got revived. He also couldn't do anything without meeting Kuhaku and Chrome. It seems that the whole theme of the series (other than science) is the importance of building connections and forming friendships.

I love how they have this Hashirama/Madara dynamic. Where they have (virtually speaking) the same goal in mind and have respect for one another. But have such different ways of handling things that their is no other way but conflict.
I can gurantee you when there’s a funny moment after someone gets stabbed they most likely faked their death. I’ve seen it happen plenty of times to known Ukyo is still alive and kicking

If Ukyou dies I swear I kinda saw some death flags cause he was all like I won't help if a single person dies but his character in general was just so likable I didn't think he'd get shanked😢
