Fly Fishing Madison River-Varney to Ennis thru the Braids! Glad we had a map with tips on the river!

Fly fishing the Madison River in Ennis Montana is a bucket list item for most fly fishers. We tried a new section this year going from the Varney Bridge put in to the take out in Ennis through the braided water of the river.

One of our friends who is a guide helped lay out our map of what channels to avoid, there are a few sweepers that apparently suck boats under every year. Plus we used the GPS on our phones to line that up with the map we had laid out to double check where we were on the water. It all worked out well as we could easily track our progress. The water was skinny but manageable with out ever getting standed on any shoals.
Some trout did take out flies - we ended with 4 on the day - all smalls, still fun to get on new water for us and explore more the Madison River. Thanks for watching and please support us by subscribing. It is free to do that you know.
