Really like how the show is emphasizing that the different factions in the tower are fighting over Nynaeve and trying to figure out how to use her to their own ends. That makes her a parallel to Rand in a way that wasn't really emphasized in the books.
oooh love the flame reaching out to Egwene - the flame yes! great break down, well worth waiting for - we are with you regardless of how much time you need.
Welcome back. Better later than never. Stretch Armstrong. You are the dating yourself with that reference. The speech Nynaeve gives when she thinks she exits the 3rd arch is basically the same speech she gives in a later book under different circumstances (but with the same meaning intended).
For the third arch, according to an interview with Sharon (costume boss lady), the jacket Nynaeve has is embroidered with botanical drawing styles of medicinal plants in WoT books; so your observation about being crimson roots is partially right 👍 The interview is on 'The road to Tar Valon' podcast or YT channel. The details are amazing in costuming this season!!!
Prime knows how much I’ve watched this episode, tears every time the actors are sooo goood. Your analysis so good you’ve turned me into a book reader. Thank you.
I suggest every book lovers and show lovers should subscribe this channel. Lauren you are amazing and also your videos. It's pretty clear that you are very observing About Wheel Of time you help me to find out even the little clues that has showed in the show. Can't wait for your next videos.
Your analysis is so good and just adds an incredible depth to the show. Sometimes on my first few watches of each episode I feel like they are missing and changing things, but your detailed analysis reminds me of all the layers to both the book and show. you, much like Perrin, forge something even more impressive out of these seemingly separate pieces. Glad to see you back making content
Thanks so much! People who say the show is "trash" or that it's terrible really don't look very closely. I hope I'm able to bring light to the good bits of the show.
Welcome back! Thank you for this excellent breakdown of this episode. I'd not noticed the different vases or that she somehow brought the Hidari through the arch, which she shouldn't have done. Looking forward to your next release
I’ve missed your videos, and have been so involved with my grandkids and current binge watching of all of and Star Trek and Ertugrul that I have barely watched any TH-cam.
Love this, thank you! Nynaeve's mother at 16:10 gives major Birgitte vibes I also have a theory about Nynaeve (which I have not finished reading the books, so I don't know if this theory ever ends up being truth later on - no spoilers!) One of the changes between the books and the show was the number of Taveren from the Two Rivers. In the books, only the 3 boys were mentioned initially as being Taveren, but the change to make Nynaeve and Egwene also taveren is something I can agree with whole heartedly as a book reader, even early on. My theory is that Nynaeve is Queen Eldrene of Menetheren reborn.
Won't spoil either, no worries, that's one of the traits I love about this fandom, we love theories so much that it would nearly spoil OURSELVES more than new readers! 😂 Anyway, my observation is that I thought the show had only made 4 Taveren, not 5. And tbh, even though I know Jordan specifically answered that Egwene is NOT, in my head, even in the book, she IS. And I hate the debates trying to imply that if she was indeed, it would remove her agency, yet the same ppl think it's alright for the boys to be and still let them retain their own agency. Won't say more here, for fear of bringing haters to Lauren's channel, but yes, overall, I'm glad that Taveren in the show is not restricted to the boys!
Im just excited to get s3 and see how the adapt the Battle of the Two Rivers. I always love watching these. Even if youre way off base, its fun theorizing
Commenting for the algorithm. Haven't been on my WoT account for months but getting back into the S2 fan edit so this was a timely drop for research purposes 😉
@UnravelingthePattern I'm glad you liked it. Feel free to use it if it ever seems like you have a place for it. What part of the ending are you referring to may I ask?
@UnravelingthePattern oh hahahaha. How very self-centred of me 😅 The end is heartbreaking. I loved watching it with my non reader partner because I lied that Nynaeve did die like that, so he was happy crying that she was alive, but it was also traumatic.
Lauren, I love your productions, and that is why I am a low level Patreon supporter of yours. I am going to post "my story" about S2 here - I've not posted it anywhere before. I'm a huge LoTR & WoT fan, read both over and over again. I liked S1. I was not wild about it, for much the same reasons as many: the changes to Perrin & Mat. But the actors, acting, sets, and costumes were just fantastic. S2 had several simply fantastic episodes, like 10/10, in mid-season. I didn't care for the Moiraine/Lan plot (along with lots of us). It used up time better spent - but I can understand you want to have your biggest-name actors active. Then came E8. Watching it, it was thrilling. "OK, OK, I said. I guess that works." But on reflection, now E8 is my least favorite. AT THE VERY LEAST it should have been two hours. They just miraculously skipped over huge plot points and ruined others. It was just too much content to put into one hour - and that made me look back at all the time they wasted in earlier episodes. I have great hopes for S3. I hope it's good and true enough to even win over some of the "bookcloaks." Hey, thanks! I hope to see my "Easter Egg" I provided to you regarding Rand and his killed opponents kneeling before him. :)
Thank you for sharing! I pretty much agree with you 100%, although I don't think E8 is my least favorite of S2, but it's definitely lower on my list. I don't know why but E4 is my personal least favorite. I'm actually looking forward to digging in deeper and making my unraveled video about it. S3 is going to be AMAZING!
My theory is that the arch worlds are dream worlds constructed in TAR, and the person going through enters TAR in the flesh, but then leave their bodies behind in TAR before their spirit enters the dream world to a randomly shallow degree. Thus their sense of the one power in the dreamworld is very weak, so most never manage to channel, and even if they do manage to channel, it is too weak to influence the arches. Because their bodies are left behind in the TAR, the bodies don't age at the same rate as the time that passes within the dreamworld, but can die of thirst and hunger within a few days if the novice does not leave the dreamworld The degree to which their spirit enters determines how much of that injury is transferred back to their bodies when they leave. Nynaeve is however, can hold so much one power, that even though she only entered the dreamworld shallowly, she still channelled enough in the end that the power explosion charged up the arch again. Something like that: Real world arch room --> Real world Arch --> TAR arch room (filled with dried corpses of failed novices) --> TAR arch --> dream world.
Yeah I know that in the books, Nynaeve seemed to have drawn on some innate Dreamwalker talent to force the arch back, but I think RJ changed his mind in book 3 and gave the Dreamwalker talent to Egwene instead.
I love this idea, and I think I agree. I can't wait to discuss T'A'R more once it's discussed more in the show. I do mention it a bit in my S2E5 breakdown, but left it out here because it hasn't really been discussed in the show yet.

Just started with ‘Eye of the world’. Super fun.
@space-person fun! Enjoy the ride. The Eye of the World is often regarded as his weakest book? So it just gets better and better!

I loved this breakdown! Looking forward for the next (no pressure though)

Amazing insight on the stylings on the arches. I never would have connected those dots!

Probably my favorite episode of WOT. They really translated the tests into a gripping and emotional set of scenes. Heartbreaking acting as well. 😭
