Years ago I played that part for a friend and asked him what that sound was, he had no clue. He thought it was for sure a keyboard type sound for how long it went on when I told him it was Steve doing that with his voice, it floored him.
Steve Perry has the best singing voice of all time!! You guys are too young to know but I'm glad you are learning and appreciating it. I have been a big Journey fan since the 80's so that tells you my age.. LOL Keep listening to good music, I enjoy watching you guys.
Steve Perry in all his glory with journey a band that recently was inducted into the Hall of fame.... My mom love this band when I was a girl in the eighties... and years later when I was in my thirties and went back to college and was in medical school I went to live in North Dakota where I found a large obsession for Journey... hell they even have Journey cover bands! But this is one of my favorite songs of theirs.
Please check out "Feeling That Way" 1978 "Just The Same Way" 1979 "Stone In Love" 1981 "Send Her My Love" 1983 and "Girl Can't Help It" 1986 You won't be disappointed. Greetings from San Diego.😊
Journey’s Lights, slower than most, but is great: Perry’s voice as always kills it and there’s a good guitar solo - such a San Francisco song. Another great is I’ll Be Alright Without You
Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' as well. Trivia: "Lights" originally went: "And the sun shines on LA," until Steve got invited to join the band in SF, and he changed the lyric.
@@rollomaughfling380 Very true and thankfully it was changed because Bay works so much better than LA says this native of SF :) it was our love song about our city. Every Giants game ending with Tony Bennett and then Journey; perfection.
Funny thing, some what like the Twins, I saw this video on MTV about 40 years ago for my 1st time and immediately fell in love with Steve Perry's Voice...and that white outfit sure piqued my 13 yr old interest. It was Journey's very 1st video to air on MTV. I'd watch for hours just waiting for them to show it again. Thank goodness for TH-cam and the internet!
Brandon Powers yes! Mother Father is my favorite by them, but any song they choose would be good in my opinion because I have never heard a bad song by them during Steve Perry’s time.
Stone in Love is my personal favorite Journey song, (followed closely by -Separate Ways, and as far as vocals go -Faithfully but y'all already done those two)
Most people only hearing this song on the radio or record didn't realize that was his voice. Thought it was a second instrument. Several of my friends saw the video and it blew their minds when they saw it was Steve Perry.
yeah, that is Steve's real voice...I call it "the electronic dolphin". he uses his second set of vocal chords for this!! What a talented singer...and has passion!!
My mom took me to see Journey when I was 6 back in 1978 when they were on this Infinity tour. My first concert and I was so obsessed with this song. They were fantastic of course! Robert Palmer was the opening act.
Steve Perry was definitely one of the most soulful white singers of the Rock 70s/80s. There are so many white vocalists who shoot for that but keep coming up short, whereas with Steve, it seemed almost effortless. Having Neal Schon on guitar definitely helped things, too.
One of my favorite songs.🔥 You should check out another band just as great as Journey. FLEETWOOD MAC✨The Chain, Gold Dust Woman, Landslide, Tusk, Rihanna💥Check them out.
Please do yourself a favor! Listen to Journey do Mother, Father live in Houston! You will understand why many of us already know that Steve Perry IS the GOAT!!!! Wait until the end when you think that you hear and instrument and it's Steve Perry's voice!!!!
Nice reaction you should react to Santana's Black magic woman next. You'll see the same guitar player on rhythm guitar and the same keyboard player. Before they formed Journey.
@@Jihavoh777 Lol. I just looked it up. He was 17 when he joined Santana. He was asked to join Derek and the Dominios but he declined it. Neal was a child prodigy.
Stumbled on to your channel today and haven't been able to quit watching. Would like to see your reactions to REO Speedwagon's Keep On Loving You, Take It On the Run, or Can't Fight This Feeling
This banz is my FAVORITE, FAVORITE band. The lead singer, Steve Perry has the best rock voice. This bans was on everyone's radio from 1978 to 1990. They have a ballad titled Faithfully in the 80's & it was played at almost every wedding. They are a great band.
Please review and enjoy!! Earth Wind and Fire top band since 1970 and still perform in concerts. I finally went to concert in Colorado Springs in 2016. They will fill your minds with happiness and funky songs. Love you!
All I can say is I love you guys for What y'all are doing!!! I don't think y'all know how much y'all are impacting my life. Nothing but love fa you guy's 👍👍❤❤👏👏
I'm pretty sure that is the audio from the record layered over what looks like concert footage. Journey played an open air concert in my city back when I was in high school in the mid '80's. My buddies and I parked outside the venue and listened to most of the show before leaving to visit some girls we knew. "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'" was always a favorite with hormone addled teenagers back then.
This was first time hearing this song for me too. I don't remember this group being played much here in Australia. Or maybe I was listening to other stuff. Nice song. Great voice. Thanks guys.
Smoked some pot we got from a guy in the parking lot of the coliseum before a Journey concert in Portland, OR, don't know what was in it but this is the only song I remember from the concert
Finally! I've been saying Journey for months, but y'all got some fans now. Try Journey's Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin and Open Arms. Only the ones from the 70's and 80's. Thanks guys!
I was 17 in 1983, just graduated high school. Was on the fence about joining the military. This song played for me one day , and I made up my mind to go for it. I joined the army and got stationed in Germany. Lived there for 5 years straight. I love this song.
Not sure if you have listened to or reacted to the group "Player " but the had a lot of really good music! Very similar in sound to journey, foreigner, and many 70's and 80s 80s rock band groups! May consider giving them a try? Oh and one of the lead singers Ron Moss is an actor and we known for his long term role as Ridge Forrester on the soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful!
Some of the purest pipes in rock!
I highly agree
Steve Perry = GOAT. Guy gives me the chills every time he sings. Great choice you guys.
Did you know he's dropped a album!!! It's called Traces!!! All new music! It goid he said he thought his music had ran it's course! Still amazing!!!
Babylonkid Amen and amen. Brad Delp up there, too. RIP
He and Arnel are both insane 🐐
What Perry is doing at 3:08 is heavenly majestic. He is harmonizing. At that point he is in another stratosphere.
Years ago I played that part for a friend and asked him what that sound was, he had no clue. He thought it was for sure a keyboard type sound for how long it went on when I told him it was Steve doing that with his voice, it floored him.
RIGHT?!?!?!?!?! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
No one better then perry imo Love this man
Neils Lofgren is one of the best guitarists alive.
I did not know this!
One of the best song's by journey.
It’s a great song!
Its my favorite too

Steve Perry "The Voice "
His voice is so pure.
One of the BEST VOCALS EVER 🔥👏🏼🎤. No one ever could match Steve Perry. He is what made Journey great 👍🏼
He gives me the chills also! Wow, luv Steve Perry.👏👏👏❤❤❤
Steve Perry's voice is amazing!

laura kali I do too
I miss the big hair days!!!
I miss jeans that fit
I miss those days. My 80s boyfriend was so hot! Lol

That voice!
Listen to Oh Sherry!

I love Steve Perry's voice and the way he says the words His inflection is terrific
my favorite group and male singer since I was a teenager, made it to Raised on Radio concert in 1986!
Perhaps the greatest start to any song ever.
Love this song it's definitely a classic rock song!! Journey has had so many great power anthems. ❤👏
Gotta hear Mother Father live in Houston by Journey...vocals are AMAZING!!!!!
Steve Perry a vocalist up there with Freddy Mercury and the other greats.
Not only an amazing voice, but the enunciation!! You can hear EVERY word he sings. Not even one muddy syllable. Just gorgeous.
The greatest rock band and voice of all time, book it
Please check out

"Just The Same Way" 1979
"Stone In Love" 1981

Greetings from San Diego.😊
Yes yes yes...all so good 💕
Was raised on Journey, they are nothing now that Steve Perry has been out of the band for 24 years. Best singer they ever had
Michelle Wells has it been that long? Man I am old.
AGREE!!!!!
70s music was the best. Got us mentally out of the Vietnam war, kept us sane.
Journey’s Lights, slower than most, but is great: Perry’s voice as always kills it and there’s a good guitar solo - such a San Francisco song. Another great is I’ll Be Alright Without You

Yes! And We would choose the song! LOL
PurpleRose7777 yes. 22 yrs old
You will love Journey’s “ Any Way You Want It”
Yes.
This was my absolute favorite of Journey. Truly a Legendary Band!
Can’t believe y’all are reacting to Journey
*new subscriber cause of that
Please react to Journey's Who's Crying Now and Mother Father!
Brandon Powers yes! Mother Father is my favorite by them, but any song they choose would be good in my opinion because I have never heard a bad song by them during Steve Perry’s time.
Yes, love Who's Crying Now!! Chills 😊
Mother Father...such a good one!
Definitely Mother Father! Steve's vocals are phenomenal!
You guys need to check out some Eagles, "Desperado" "Hotel California" "Life in the fast Lane" and Cheap Trick too!
I second The Eagles, though I think Get Over It would be a good start.
Yes cheap trick
Please play The Eagles...One Of These Nights, Take It Easy, Life In The Fast Lane...thank you for brightening my night
Hotel California! Yes, I’d love to see them react to that one.
This one's a banger
THey need merch for that slogan
@@carked5707 yesss!!!
Mother, Father Live in Houston!
I like the journey reactions! Keep it up. Can’t go wrong with Who’s crying now or Ask the lonely
A powerful message in this song. I miss the 70's music...
Stone in Love is my personal favorite Journey song, (followed closely by -Separate Ways, and as far as vocals go -Faithfully but y'all already done those two)
Impeccable live vocals!! Great selection.
Steve Perry is the lead singer. He had an album on his own. Look up Steve Perry - Oh Sherry
He's had 4 albums alone. 1 was greatest hits though.
Did you guys catch the crazy high notes backing the second half of the guitar solo? :)

Back in the day people argued that it was not him but it very clearly was.
Nice reaction you should react to Santana's Black magic woman next. You'll see the same guitar player on rhythm guitar and the same keyboard player. Before they formed Journey.
Chris Sarina Neal Schon was hanging around Santana during the Abraxas album but appear on a studio album until Santana III
Neal was only 16 at the time he started with Santana.
tigerback62 I think he was 16 when he joined (after Eric Clapton invited him into Derek and the Dominos), but he was jamming with them when he was 15

Cool! I was hoping you get to this song from them.
I love journey.....great group!!!
First Journey song I ever heard. Love it. The morning sun is risin it kisses the dayeeyay. Think I heard this when I was 17 in 1980.

Listen to Good Morning, Girl by them. His voice is amazing in all of their music yet this one you can hear his ranges so clearly.
Hope you noticed that super high note with the guitar solo was actually sung by Steve! Not the guitar!
