    it is you tubers like you who really help novice gun owners like me take care of my weapons. I really appreciate your content. Do not stop making videos just because you "left out" something like the safety engagement / trigger for reassembly. While it is important and probably some people were upset for the omission, we all should take responsibility for our own actions. If your not comfortable taking apart a gun, research it thoroughly before proceeding. I appreciate your posting this, it shows your integrity and honesty . I subscribed your channel because of this post.

    Mine doesn't click. It acts like springy plastic. There is no joy for there is no click.

    I fixed it. I had an old pair of house slippers. Had hard rubber on soles. Cut 2 small pieces and tapped them to a flat head screwdriver. Put in the slot, got a good position on it and lifted up. BAM. I heard the click. Didn't have my sights on it but took it down and shot 15 rounds through it. Shoots great. I'm 77 and like it because it is liter than my other rifles. Hardly any kick. Putting sight on tomorrow, bore sight and shoot when I can. Put cleaning instruction on wall. #1. Put safety on and don't pull the trigger, Dummy.

  • @ccowboyearl01

    I pulled the trigger. My finger isn't strong enough to reset it. Is there another way to do it? S&W won't be back in until 2 Jan.2024. I agree, this is a stupid design. S&W needs to make a tool to rest the trigger.

    Newbies, heads up. Don't be in a hurry to break down your new firearm just to make you feel like your a mechanic. I have been guilty of just that. In reality you need not disassemble most guns just to clean them . Also keep it stock. You don't need to change out parts thinking you or your know it all buddy ,know better than the manufacturer.

    • @hollowpointdefense

    • @hollowpointdefense

      Sorry about the late reply, I was out of town. Just pushing straight back on the hammer will not reset it. It has to go back and downward so it will reset/latch. Kind of like an arching motion.

    So when i pull the charging handle and squeeze the trigger it functions fine. Then while I continue to hold the trigger and pull the charging handle again, when i release the trigger it doesn’t click. But when i release the trigger and squeeze the trigger it clicks. Is there something wrong with the weapon?

    First time firearms owner, haven't shot anything since I got out of the army in 1994. I made this mistake today, brand new FPC, hasn't been shot yet. I got brave and decided to check the firearm, took out the bolt and added a little oil, put back together the bolt wouldn't go in right away, so I sprung the trigger and the bolt went down, good so I thought, then the bolt wouldn't lock and I couldn't feed the mag I noticed the hammer sitting loose,, UH OH.. After reading some forum posts and then watching this video, it made sense, I just had to lock that loose hammer back to re- cock the trigger. when I reinstalled the bolt with the trigger locked properly it still wouldn't go down all the way.. seemed like it was catching on something. I gave it some force like I was going to throw the weapon forward and the bolt went down and I was able to reassemble.. good to go.. Thank you very much for this upload! Now I have a decent understanding of how triggers work because of this mistake.

    Long skinny fingers help ! haha. Just now recocked the trigger and got her to working. Used a section of an old, old 12 ga. cleaning rod to accomplish the reset. Your first clue on reassembly, should you decock the trigger before disassembly, is you will have no resistance sliding the bolt back into place.

    • @hollowpointdefense
      @hollowpointdefense  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      May not be going back enough. Basically, you are kind of pushing it back in a in an arch form. And roundabout way, you’re going back with a little bit of downward pressure so the latch will catch.

    Thanks for helping a rifle noob out, brother!
    Having experience with pistols, the take-down usually requires a trigger pull, so… 😊
    Thanks again.

      Not on the FPC, NO trigger pull is required at all. This is not like a pistol tear down at all. Activating the trigger on the FPC leads to a issue that can be easily avoided by NOT pulling the trigger.

    I fixed my issue. I just folded the firearm open, and was able to use a long screwdriver and reset the trigger by pushing screwdriver back to re-cocking position. Folding firearm open and using long screwdriver will help anyone who cannot pull trigger back with finger or screwdriver in the closed position. Thank you for posting video about the trigger issue.

    Did you really mean to reach in and push the "trigger" back or rather to push the "bolt" back down to re-cock it ? DJ

    • @hollowpointdefense
      @hollowpointdefense  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I meant to say "hammer", not trigger. The bolt will NOT recock the hammer if you let the hammer go forward and then put the bolt in. You have to push the "hammer" back.

    Having an issue getting the bolt to seat. The trigger is in the correct position but can’t get the bolt to set so I can complete assembly. Any suggestions.

    • @hollowpointdefense
      @hollowpointdefense  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hard to say with little details to go on or seeing it. Make sure the bolt is going in correctly, I have seen one person put in the bolt upside down and had trouble seating in all the way. There is a bolt guide (fin) inside the bolt has to align with. If the bolt is upside down or slanted (has to be flat to line up with the fin/guide) in any way it will not line up.

      Thank you for your response. Spoke with S&W today and they had me pull the trigger and reinsert the bolt. It dropped right into place. Not sure what I originally did as I have disassembled and reassembled after cleaning before with no issues. Thanks again and keep the videos going as they are very helpful.

    this did not work for me. i dissembled the gun as per the manual. it does mention to not dry fire it while taken apart but i didn't realize it was already cocked when i dissembled it. went to put the bolt back in and it wouldn't go all the way in. had to pull the trigger to get the bolt to slide in all the way. now the bolt doesn't lock back, the trigger does nothing and the mags wont go in. i tried to pull the hammer back but it just flops around. no matter how far i push it back up it doesn't lock into place .

    • @hollowpointdefense
      @hollowpointdefense  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It will, you need to push the hammer back and down. Like in an arch motion. The mags will not go in because the hammer is in the way. You need to get the hammer back in the cocked position.
