Thanks, I’ve always wanted to make this video but as stated I never owned the OG version so couldn’t. I was actually surprised to discover that the 2023 version is slightly longer than the OG version. It’s only when you put them side by side that it’s even noticeable. It wasn’t until I lined them all up for the size comparison shots that this became evident, up until this point my mind was convinced they were identical in size as by eye they look so similar.
I'm 24 now, and that first Elephant came out when I was just TEN! It's insane to me how much time has flown, but also the memories coming back as I watch you pull that thing from the box - Damn, it's like I'm right back at the sleepover pulling my friends elephant out of his box to put with my Pelican! Thanks for this.
That’s amazing, it sounds like you were the right age at the right time for the birth of Halo Mega. Unfortunately I’m far too old for memories like that but I always enjoy hearing the stories of those that were actually able to enjoy them at the time for their intended purpose (before they became an overpriced Collectable like everything else).
All i wanted from the halo games was to have these in a scene en masse like the rigs in Gears of War 2. All three sets are great in their own ways, and easier to get your hands on than a mammoth.
Loved the comparison of the three! I think a lot of your critique/praise/scaling of them are fair. My first was the 2023 and i had a blast building it. I skipped the Halo Wars one bc it just didn't appeal to me at the time for whatever reason. I just recently got 2 semi completed 2011 elephants earlier this year, just haven't gotten around to rebuilding/restoring them.

I was so surprised about how much I enjoyed restoring and building the the original OG elephant, the reason I never picked one up used is because I thought it was just down right ugly (as in a weird looking vehicle). I also thought it would be an unimpressive build due to the amount of large custom pieces used to create the track pods. I was wrong on every level, I really enjoyed the build and the finished result looks fantastic on the shelf. It just goes to show that you really need to see some of these sets in hand to appreciate them.
Bought two of the Elephant Sandnests to have both Name Plates , they look absolutely stunning. I do wish we got more Halo 3 marines with removable helmets , but that aside it’s a beautiful set at a reasonable cost on Amazon.
I agree with everything you say including having 2 😂. I also wish there were more H3 marines with it but to be honest I think the absolute most we would have ever seen would have been 1 more in the set which still wouldn’t have been enough for me. What we really needed was a H3 figure pack consisting of at least 4 marines and maybe 2 other figures like ODSTs to be released along side the elephant, this way we could have easily created a H3 army of troops without having to buy 10 Elephants 😂
The 2024 one is one the best sets I've ever gotten I got mine for 110 but I've seen it as low as 90 (USD) The only thing wrong with it is that it doesn't come with a mongoose like the original but everything else is AMAZING
I agree, it’s a great set and has been readily available on Amazon at discount for months and months. It’s a shame it’s not available on Amazon UK as they cost a lot to import from the states given the size and weight and value of the set.
Elephant facts! The elephant in halo 3 is called Behemoth internally. The halo 3 elephant is a mobile vehicle recovery platform, the crane is used to relocate wrecked vehicles. The HW Elephant is a combat variant, in one of the Spartan Mobile games it even has a rocket pod on the roof. The elephant in halo 3 was supposed to appear in campaign for an escort mission, unfortunately i have no idea what that escort mission was, the idea was recycled for ODST. The odst Oliphants are closer to the HW elephant than the halo 3 elephant, given its enclosed back area and smaller size. In the lore for HW2, it is implied that the Elephants and Cobras that the SOF had were scrapped and turned into the Firebases and Anti-Vehicle turrets. Actually speaking of which, hw2 has an unused EMP turret model which is basically just a slightly tweaked version of the Gremlins turret.

Thanks, appreciated. I too generally prefer the dark green when it comes to UNSC although as the years have past I’ve definitely warmed to the original green and to some extent the current metallic green. I’m still not 100% on the current green but I don’t hate it.

So amazingly I still have my OG elephant and it still holds up to this day unfortunately I never put the stickers on it so which I could get a sticker set for it even to print my own but also lost my mongoose and got a new warthog hanging from the crane with a translucent rod to hold it up

Does anyone know of a way to get your hands on some mega construx halo sets in europe? Shops seem to only ever have one or two of the newer ones available and thebused market seems to mostly be small old sets at 3 times their retail price.
I’m not sure, I got mine from eBay Uk about 5 years ago but I haven’t seen them available on there for years now, I was going to replace mine as it’s started to yellow slightly.
I was going to say it’s quite often on sale on US Amazon but it sounds like you are in Canada from your comments. I don’t ever look at Amazon CA but I’m guessing they don’t have as many offers as the US branch.

That would look great, and yes, generally easier to get your hands on than the Mammoth although the Halo Wars version does ten to be expensive here.

I'm new to Halo Mega. Is there any covenant available since those are my favorite factions? I wanted to try buy it in bulks.
There's the Renegade Banshee and the Ghost of Requiem, both of which are easily available on Amazon, as well as some stores.
You could keep an eye on eBay for used sets, mostly older articulation but there is usually plenty available if you have the cash.
