Bertha is a big ole red fish in Super Mario 3 that jumps up from the water and tries to eat you, and if she does catch you it results in immediate death. I guess that’s why she’s red and… jumps…? no it’s still stupid but I just wanted to point that out because why not? why only have this knowledge in my head when I can inflict it upon others lmao

I get why someone would want to put a famous person as a voice actor to bring in fans, but Charles IS Mario. He has a huge fanbase. Why not just use the actual voice actor who is an actual voice actor.
That's in the canon games, though. He was also voiced by Walker Boone in those Mario TV shows, and Mark Graue in Hotel Mario. Like I get that celebrity voice acting is a huge meme and all, but Martinet not voicing Mario for once isn't the end of the world. Especially since Ben Scwartz voiced Sonic and did fine. And Chris Pratt voiced Emmett in the Lego Movie and did fine.
Yes Charles does the voice of Mario but how much range do you think he has with that Mario voice? How long do you think people could sit through a movie where he sounds exactly like the games, all high pitched sounding? Seriously when has he ever had to do full lines of dialog with that voice? Why do people think it would sound good when he's forced to have full conversations with more emotional depth than was ever used in the games? I think it would sound way too silly or annoying after awhile personally. Also not the first time someone else has voiced Mario so I don't get the uproar now, like changing the voice actor would save it from being bad. It's being made by Illumination studios for Pete's sake and everyone is focused on Chris Pratt, thinking that's what's going to ruin it when it was doomed from the start under their direction. I get wanting to support the original voice actor but some things just don't translate well from one form of media to another and that's just an overall problem with adaptations.

i hate the fact that as a kid, i LOVED this movie. it was one of the only movies on the DVR we had recorded and i would actively search it out on youtube, going out of my way to watch it even if it was in shitty quality with distorted audio. i was this movies biggest fan.
I was 11 when this movie came out and I was relatively obsessed with Who Framed Roger Rabbit. The Bob Hoskins from WFRR compared to the Bob Hoskins from this movie gave me the world’s first ever case of early onset PTSD. Thanks Mario Bros!
