    about 6 years. Did my basement floor a few years back with Stone Coat products, but practiced with the countertop kit. This stuff is so easy, my kids were playing with the samples and making some awesome looking mixes. I'll be making my own kitchen countertops this fall/winter.

    I don't get it. Your Galaxy Black comes with a bottle of black pigment. Where does that go? In the video, you painted the table black.

    i found you guys a few years back because i bought wreck of a house about an hour outside a tiny town. after multiple calls to the one company that does countertops, with no response, i started looking for other alternatives. now i've had time to find out the flaws in my kitchen design, so i'll be redoing the countertops this winter. apart from being simple to do, the ability to change without having to take out a mortgage is a bonus. one of these days i'll get around to doing my concrete floor in the basement. so how about a starry night effect guys? i would like to have all the constellations for my family on the floor... or maybe the night sky on the night i was born.

    DO NOT DO BLACK GALAXY! Why? I actually have that granite and will grind/sand etc and redo in light colors with epoxy. WHY? Because black shows EVERY SINGLE SPOT, spec, dust, drop. Water drops stain, ring, and it SHOWS like no other granite. Use another lighter color, like lt. grey, pale colors and etc!!! NEVER EVER WILL I USE BLACK COUNTERS AGAIN!

    I ordered the blk galaxy kit but when I opened the box up you sent white undercoat so I thought can you do a white galaxy treatment with flex of silver gold diamond dust and copper I also got pearl so I wondered what that design would look like in white since i got white in my kit instead of the blk. I was going to add silver gold copper diamond dust and pearl. Sorry to repeat myself what would that look like even add a little silver and blk marble spray.. What do you think. I love bling

    In the process of buying a house right now and the 2 things that need to go asap are the damaged laminate countertop and the carpet in the kitchen. So I've been being watching your videos and taking notes and calculating the cost of materials so that when the paperwork is finally done and we can move it, I can order my items and update my 1950s kitchen into something beautiful.

    That’s a great question ! Is there a way to find exact date of subscribing to ? Definitely between 5-7 yrs
    Mike was definitely much more humble soft spoken and sweet , not that he still isn’t …just much more confidence ✌🏻❤️
    I recall one of the first videos I watched was of Mike in a very small bathroom possible his own repairing as needed and resurfacing the countertop
    As well as resurfacing a very very large and long dining room table to a (hammered?) beautiful copper
    Thinking his wife appeared eliminating air bubbles and a bug w a safety pin possibly

    That is very elegant and sparkly!! 🌟 I've been watching since it was just Mike and occasionally Kathryn. I remember someone came in and taught Mike some TH-cam basics. I think that's when the energy drinks started? This method was the only one being taught with mixing the third time after deshedding your brush. There was only one kind of epoxy available. No top coat. I was amazed that you had an hour working time and no VOC's. Then he did the hot fry pan and flame on the countertop. I was hooked. I have no idea how long I've been watching, but you were a very young channel. 😂

    I believe it was 2012 and I can't remember but I don't think the channel name was the same. There wasn't many subscribers then either and I didn't subscribe myself till years later. Channel had nothing to do with epoxy counter tops then. I think it was about topdog custom cabinets. I was building a custom RV and looking for ideas. Years later you started flow coating tops out of giant slabs of wood. In February 2017, I did my first counter top just after seeing your video on epoxy counter tops. I went that direction because I wanted a solid surface counter top without the weight of solid surface and since I was building a custom RV using fiberglass and epoxy, it just made sense. Didn't come out perfect and had to do it three times, but I finally got the look I wanted, Pink granite, (black granite with pink highlights). I tried making then using dies from my epoxy supplier but didn't like the look. Finally tried alcohol dies I purchased from Michaels and that did the trick. Sold that RV to my cousin and he still has it with the original epoxy counter tops. He recently re-coated them due to wear and did them in a marble style he saw on your channel. I'm on my forth RV now and will again make my own counter tops with epoxy but with a thousand different ideas and color choices thanks to you guys.

  • @nroman1977
    @nroman1977 ปีที่แล้ว

    Odd question but have you experimented with "painting on" the epoxy with epoxy rollers in layers to build added depth? Say 1-2oz per sqft in multiple layera with just the metalics and diamond dust? I wonder if it will give a more uniform distribution and avoid the need to chop. Buy 9" epoxy rollers and cut them in half for a 4" roller cage? Black metalic, clear, diamond dust, clear, diamond dust and silver glitter with a small amount of black metalic, clear top coat.
    I have been trying to figure out a way to get very consistent and uniform patterns to make pieces on multiple days that match up. I only have room to do 4x8 at a time and need to make a U shaped desk to fill an office area that is 8x9ft
    I have even gone so far as to weight the metalics in .1 gram

    I'm so interested in this but as a "White Galaxy Granite". We're putting Mother of Pearl tiles up and I would really like to redo our bathroom countertop with a white base, diamond dust, white pearl, and maybe some other iridescent glitter. My biggest concern is that the epoxy will yellow over time, especially since we have a skylight in the bathroom that has natural light coming in all the time.
    Another question.... Do you have online comparisons between the matte and the glossy ultimate top coat? The glossy look gives such a beautiful depth to designs but I'm not sure if the matte will do the same but with a room full of lights, I can't have a lot of reflection off the countertop. THANK YOU!!!!

    Mitch, my first video was 6 years ago, and it was the Black Galaxy Granite video. I totally fell in love with it. I was thinking that technique would great as artwork. A glass picture frame with a cosmic painting topped with diamond dust with silver, gold, and purple glitter and LED lights. What do you think?
    Also, a while back, you and your brothers did a competition with left over resin to see who comes up with the best looking project. Can you guys have another competition? I thought it was cool to see the different designs you can create using the same recipe. Maybe have the viewers pick the colors.

    Three years or so. Both you and RK3. Question: can you skip either the diamond dust or silver glitter so save some money? I understand it won't look as good but sometimes you have a tight budget. Edit: Black Galaxy granite is my favorite. Thanks for the video. Liked.

    Hello, I need help. I messed up my project (2 night stand top counters and a dresser top counter). I believe I mixed the epoxy with my drill and apparently I mixed it too fast because as soon as I mixed the colors in the cups they became very warm and by the time I poured the epoxy, it was drying too fast to where I couldn't spread it on my counters. Since it dried so fast I wasn't able to get the colors to match on all pieces. Could I sand the counters down and start all over? What are your recommendations? Thanks in advance.

    • @StoneCoatCountertops
      @StoneCoatCountertops  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no! Yes you can sand and start over no problem. It sounds like the epoxy was left in the bucket too long, how long did you mix for, and how long did it sit before you started mixing the colors? What epoxy were you using?

      I used it on 3/4 inch trim around workbench using the leftover material that basically cured enough to apply vertically. some did get slung on the wall and didn't go anywhere. so if the surface is prepped then it should do ok. this is how it went with my little gallon kit, and a few small tests here and there.
