I've been living in Shenzhen for 14 years and this is the best information I've found on this area. Thank you sir!
its a nice city
Hello! Really enjoyed this, it had a very Vox/Johnny Harris feel/production value to it, well done! Look forward to more
Thank you for putting the research and time to make this. It is history that shouldnt be forgotten
and thx for your subtitle :) last time i just causally mentioned this on the street when bumped into u
Awesome I’ve never been there. Thanks for doing this!
My ancestral homeland! For most of my adult life I have had to explain and describe STK to people and the simple concrete stump that was the divide between Britain and China. Now I can just tell them to watch this video! Thank you!
Awesome documentary - thank you
Interesting video and great choice of music
I remember in 1971 as a small child my mother driving just to the border of the Frontier Closed Area, where there was a gate on the road where where you couldn't go in into Sha Tau Kok unless you can show proof of residency or official paperwork allowing you to visit inside. Mind you, I think my mom did visit inside because she had special paperwork that allowed her to visit certain people there at certain times of the year.
Nice video! Highly informative and entertaining.
Thank you for your research and sharing the history of this village since my mother and her family are from STK and are Hakka people! Really interesting!
I looked up some pictures and it’s mind blowing… Simplified Chinese on one side of the road, traditional on the other
Amazing history , thank you
This is a wonderful video. This is on my visit list in 2024.
thanks for the informative video!
Sha tou kok is rlly cool!! I visit my grandparents there and it’s amazing

Thanks for your video
very well made video!
HK is a fantastic place. Love it there.
I’m from that area! I’ve been waiting for so long for a video like this to come along 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Nice video, very interesting
Fascinating video. Amazing that it’s still off limits all this time since 1997.
My ancestral home village
I lived in Hong Kong between 1995 and 2001 and had no idea about the situation there!
I have been living in Hong Kong for 20 years and I don't even know this lol
Where was this video for me a couple weeks ago 😅. I showed up and got kicked off the minibus as l didn't have the proper ID 😅
Good video
Hong Kong's sovereignty wasn't returned to the PRC. PRC didn't sign the Treat of Nanking as they didn't exist, and ceded land is not returnable. Hong Kong's sovereignty was transferred to the PRC.
I was in Hong Kong two weeks ago and visited Sha Tau Kok. My first time stepping foot in China!
WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW
Your accent 😂 it's ShenJen. Not Shen-zen.
Exactly. I don't get why he doesn't learn how to pronounce Chinese words correctly as an oversea Chinese living in HK. Shame
Wow.....a town that is in China ....and China. Amazing....
well it was British Hong Kong and China
@@sunj8346🤡🤡🤡keep dreaming
i thought the govt didnt make the tourist permits yet, how did you get in?
Hi! They started issuing permits in January of 2024. You can apply here if you'd like to visit: www.es.police.gov.hk/eserv-online-portal-ui/#/pages/e-services-application-forms/10
yeah but once Hong Kong offically becomes apart of china in 2047 Sha Tau Kok would just be a normal village and lose its reputation
Integration never works, East Germany does not successfully fully intergrate into West Germany. There are many problems in the country til this day because of that. In Yemen the problem is even more obvious, when North and South Yemen reunite. The Houtis and the the government ended up controlling territory of each side of Yemen respectively. The situation in Hong Kong is also very similar. Honestly it's best to keep these countries divided and develop separately, such attempts merely causes trouble
If this approach had been followed, the United States and the United Kingdom would have already fallen apart.
@@EIDMONA If you look at the UK, the Irish potato famine was a result of the integration attempt that killed millions, you also have the troubles on top of that. There are also all the problem going on in Scotland which led to devolution, which is also a problem that is happening in Wales. Meanwhile the United States experienced the civil war with many casualties. The confederate would have probably abolished slavery on its own after a few decades anyways.
Very good English you speak
Not surprisingly ! As he was born in foreign country
I think he's British
But his Chinese pronunciation is horrid as an oversea Chinese. Shame
@wskong3270 It's not a foreign country to him. I assume you mean non-Chinese. Other countries are not "foreign." They are only foreign if you're talking to people from your own country. And right now you have no way of knowing that either way.
I live near there
✋️What does Sha tau Kok means in English?
head horn sand or sand head horn for the literal translation
@@penguinpingu3807 , oic. Thank you
Still China.
Still CCP

Hong Kong is mainland china now. Congrats. Hong Kong.
Excellent, that means finally living costs will become reasonable?
@lordjustice6994 nah it's ever increasing
It's only China
0nly CCP
Explain the border control existing even now then
别忘了我们都是中国人。。华人。😊
@TracyChen-xh8yd 英国人把香港当狗,他把英国人当爹😂
Ethnically Chinese only.
華人 不等於是 中國人
那你是汉人吗@@sunj8346
@@Pinguforever
There's no such thing as ethnic Chinese
China is multiethnic country with over 55 different ethnicities
Why is he using American spelling while claiming to be British?
Guys it’s MAINLAND China vs Hong Kong. Stop the “Hong Kong is part of China” sh-t
And as a HongKonger I don’t identify as Chinese.
In 1997 UK returned Hong Kong to China so it's part of China now
Even the " 2 systems 1 country " will be over by 2047
agreed, i honestly want to experience the british’ ruling. it seems a lot better than the communistic government we have now

You don't like bananas, Mr white man?
A banana 😂😂😂😂
......that was damn funny.
@@Sabundy No, ... it's ... tumbleweed again.
Thats all China.. lol
Such a divide used to matter, a line between freedom and authoritarianism. But since the 2020 National Security Law, Hong Kong is just another Chinese city, and this line has become meaningless.
If meaningless why is there still a border with security officers dividing Hong Kong and the rest of Mainland China?
@@ddnn974 gotta keep up the show don't they? They stripped Hong Kong of its freedom of speech with the 2020 law, so while the border still exists both sides now have the same lack of freedoms.
@@djunior874Don’t forget about then kidnapping journalists too. But culturally and mentally, Hong Kong is more of a Chinese colony now instead of truly being a part of China.
Cry more loser 😂😂
@@baha3alshamari152 how much do you receive per comment mate
Why omit out how many HK citizens were killed by HK police, during protests in Hong Kong
There is no such thing as Hong Kong, is China Hong Kong. Be aware this video might already broken the Hong Kong national security law Article 23
What’s the difference? Hong Kong is China at this point. 😂
There is still a literal border and Mainland Chinese cannot enter unless they have a visa or permit. Hong Kong people not resident in STK also cannot cross the border without going through that border checkpoint
It’s still an autonomous zone within China. It’s a country within a country.
Keep in mind that Hong Kong has been officially part of China since 1997.
It's officially part of China since a million years ago. The British "stole" it
Yup. It's basically a town that is in China......and in China.
HK have always been part of China.
Yeah. A more correct title would be a town that is in both Hong Kong and Shenzhen 😂
Basically a nice little city now
China is awesome!
It is all in China since 1997
Thanks for the update
Exactly. So it's completely meaningless today. It's literally a part of China ....that's also in China.
They still have a border tho
So? There’s still a border between Mainland China and Hong Kong. Doesn’t contradict what the video is trying to say.
Heh
