Good video. Helps a lot. I followed this video up to 2:30 but without taking the rest apart. After removing the LCD screen and the digitizer, I remove the screw of the battery connector, loosen the battery by slowing prying it out, then slide out the battery from the motherboard. I can then insert the new battery in and put the unit back together. This saved the work of removing the whole motherboard out.
T. Eng I just want 2 disconnect battery and reconnect to try and fix new lcd back light problem is this a case of just unscrewing the screw or is there something underneath?
Very informative and excellently produced video. I wish I could say that I have the patience and dexterity to accomplish this task, but I just know that if I tried then at some point the iPad would end up in the bin ! Loathe Apple for not making it simple to replace batteries.
Thanks for the excellent video! I must say it's one of the best I've ever seen. It was very complete and concise, excellent video where you could see what you were doing and the volume of your voice was excellent, which you don't always find on a lot of these videos. You did a very good job to be very proud of!
What a complete nightmare. All that just to replace the battery. I have an Air 2 on layaway this very moment & now i'm terrified at the thought of having to replace the battery lol. Praying that I never have to.
+Brandon Elliot Smith I agree. The iPad Air repair is not for everyone but everyone can watch the video for free just in case they want to try it. Most of the time the standard warranty does not cover a broken screen or other repairs so you can save money by doing it yourself. Thanks for the post.

Ok you replied back to me and said- It is not safe to ship a battery with a charge on it, I vape and if I bought new 18650 batteries for my mod and they did not have a charge in it than they would be bad forgive me I am trying to understand what to do my I pad air is stuck in recovery mode and I was wondering if a new battery would fix it and yes I tried everything I tunes tries to format it than it fails with a error I see no battery level so was as to wounder if it is because no charge in battery and it won't charge because the i pad is stuck in recovery mode any help would be great.
Most of the times a ipad stuck in recovery mode is a software issue and not the battery. You might want to try and find a local repair ship to take this issue to so they can try a few things on the repair or software side. Hope this helps.

My iPad Air stopped working. Had about 80% charge when it failed. Read about warming battery with hairdryer to see if it comes on. Sure enough the iPad did come back to life and ran fine for about 10 minutes then packed in completely. Do you think this is a battery fault? Cheers

Depends on how much glue is left after you remove it. Most of the time no you would need an adhesive kit to re-install. www.directfix.com/product/IP-2746.html

It's really not easy to get the new battery in with this method though.
much easier to just loosen the board without removing it, heating up the battery and pulling it off with the motherboard slightly lifted.

Can I use a hairdryer instead of a headgun?
Yes, but only if it will get hot enough.
What temperature do you need the air to be ?
are ipad air and ipad air 2 batteries and screens the same or not?
This is only for the iPad Air Gen 1 the screen and battery are different between the Gen 1 and Gen 2 of the ipad air.
What if i don't have a heat gun, should i just begin removing the touch pad?
Just use a hair dryer then atleast or sth to replace the heat gun without it the glue wont come of
Worked for me! Thank you for posting.

thanks for show us.
If a replace my ipad's battery does it restart everything??
Because I have a lot of pictures with my clasmates and my grandparents
You should not lose anything when replacing the battery but I would try and backup everything before replacing it just to be safe.
Cant you just remove the battery without the logicboard? You can't just lift the connector up a little and slide the battery out from underneath it?
If you do not wish to cause damage please remove the logicboard
