I am curious actually. Though I imagine it comes down to what you want; in my household having an open back is actually advantageous as it allows me to listen out around me without completely shutting myself off. In exchange, it’s just plainly sweaty in hot months, and British folk generally don’t have AC. But being awkward one month a year is fine. Sure I only own a HE1000v1 so my experience mightn’t be accurate, but I imagine an IEM is much more intimate, but I prefer to have some awareness around me.
All the things you love about this iem, you can get a lot cheaper. Trust me! Try out the Shuoer EJ07, this iem blows your mind when it comes to sound/price ratio. The EJ07 wipes the floor with a lot iems. I heard many earphones in my life and this one is the only one, that checks all marks. And i'am very picky. Bass, Mids, Highs, Detailretrival, Staging, Imaging, Volumecapability, Timbre - all this things are perfect. :)

I totally agree with everything you said. BTW...I live 20 minutes from Fir Audio and was able to demo the universals before purchasing the customs. The CEO (Bogdan Belonozhko) did my earmolds right there in his shop. He's a very down to earth, personable guy for being such an audio genius. Just my 2 cents (probably worth less than that). :-)

never thought that a pair of universal IEM could be this expensive. I bought UE10pro custom IEM 13 years just only 900usd (still works find up'til now).
I just got this and it is amazing. It’s very different to your Odin and Noble Sultan. It’s just so easy to listen to but you need a good amp to get the best of it. I find the Odin and Sultan just too busy.
I bought M5 at store in my city, I let go my other collections like 64 Nio, Z1R, M9, u12t, and even Legend Evo. I couldnt get happier than Fir M5. Even top tier list in Crinnacle are all not satisfy me at all

I would not mind trying them out. But not dropping that kind of money on something so small that I would probably loose at some point.

You should replace the Tin T2 bronze recommendation with the Blon-03. I had both and the Blon's absolutely dominate the T2's and they are cheaper. I sent the T2's back because there will never be a reason for me to pick them up when i have the Blon-03's
I also have both and prefer the T2s for a lot of music, as the bass can be overpowering on the Blons sometimes. Also the T2s are more comfortable in my ears and so I can wear them for much longer. So I would say it's a justified choice. Both are great in that price range though.
Are customs that much better when compared to a pair of iem's the user considers comfortable? Edit:I ask because I've been tempted. Also, there are those cheap custom molds you can make for any iem's. Idk
try to find a custom that has a combination of the dynamic with balanced armature. when i compared the hybrid against my customs in a live music setting as a bass player, i retired my customs.
If you're listening to things at this price - PLEASE try to get hold of a set of InEar Prophile 8S. They ended my obsession with new gear, wonderful reference level signature which remains musical and gives you the option of boosting high or low frequencies to tailor it to your tastes. I compared them against the best on offer from 64Audio, Empire Ears, Campfire Audio (I auditioned them at a CanJam) and the Prophiles were absolutely my top choice. Criminally underrated and under-represented in my opinion.
I Like how you mentioned how you could just plug them into your phone saving a ton on special gear , the Abyss Diana ( not phi ) is supposed to do that any way you can contact DMS to try those also ?

unit to unit variant is a thing, though it's really depending on the company, company like Sony, Audeze, beyerdynamic are usually realy consistent with their gear. though in the IEm world most company are pretty small and can have pretty bad unit to unit variant, one of a good example is the Campfire audio Solaris.
I actually wonder the idea of marketing of selling 2000 dollar IEMs. I am not a marketing expert but I would think people would actually make more money in the sub 100 dollar area then the 2000 dollar area. They look like it. Totally uninspired effort on the cosmetics. Knowing that they just assemble these in a few minutes with a few tools is a huge turn off for a supposed “elite” product is a huge turn off. At that price people expect hand made touches.

You need to hear Anole VX. Not buy, of course. I wouldn't advise anyone spending that kind of money on an IEM. But you should hear it.
