Killrob said how to read the turbo graph in the patch showcase: You have the efficiency islands/bubbles and on top of them the turbo curve (blue line). Your objective is to keep the blue curve inside the colored efficiency bubbles, the greener the bubble, the more efficient the compressor is (aka can make boost without heating the air too much, so less knocking, more dense air, more power). So for example an econobox is gonna have a peak efficiency bubble at low-ish rpm (smol turbo, good response and mpg), while a drag racing engine is gonna have the green bubble in the last bit of the turbo curve/line all the way to the right, cause it needs to make power up top and it doesn't need response and mpg. Tldr: compressor size: + to make bubble bigger and make more power up top with less response, more efficiency, less knock. - to do the opposite. Exhaust size: + to make turbo spool later (reach the flat part of the line later in the rpm), helps with flow, header temps, reduces turbo surge (when the blue line is too close to the left edge of the bubbles). - to have better response. Trim: + to elongate the bubble to the right, less responsive turbo, peak eff at higher rpm, etc Boost: it moves the turbo blue line higher and to the right in the bubbles. Ofc turbo quality has massive effects on the efficiency of the turbo, so keep that in mind. Hope it helps.
