You are so inspiring, I also decided I wanted to be a writer when I was a child but I never told anyone/did anything about it because I figured I would never get published. But when you said that you have an obligation to your 8 year old self to put yourself out there and at least try I genuinely teared up. We're going to be published authors one day, and our childhood selves are going to be so freaking proud!
Hailey, I'm totally going to show a part of this to my 12 year old to prove that you can be passionate about what you want in life at such a young age. Aha! That’s exactly what happened to me. Was working on a YA Fantasy, which I’m still on, when a contemporary popped into my head and wouldn’t let me be until I got it somewhat outlined on paper- well screen hahah. So excited for more about yours!!! xo
I literally had just came up with an awesome idea that I have fleshed out and started writing when I decided to take a break and check TH-cam. I saw ur new vid and decided to watch it. It gave me some ideas to help me start writing. Im an aspiring writer, and will probably, for my first published book, do a basic horse training book, and then my fiction ideas. I've been using the fiction writing as a way to teach me how to write.
Im so late to watching these amazing videos but all this year has been weird for me. Now that I finally have time to really binge watch book tube, I have to say WOW. I'm so amaze how far you've gone!!! I enjoyed this video a lot. It was motivating and inspiring when you talked about keeping the promise to yourself to be a writer and eventually be an author, by keeping yourself accountable. That called me out, and reinforced my need to set a time and writing goals.

I'm moving next week so life has been pretty hectic but this video is definitely giving me some much needed motivation to jump back into the book i stated in November!!
In 8th grade we were told to write a short one to two paragraph story about a natural occurrence and give it a mythological explanation. I wrote 7 pages. Haha. I absolutely adore writing and I completed an entire book that summer with a coauthor. I really want to continue writing but I haven't found the right idea again. Haven't found the same motivation/inspiration. One day.

HI Haley. Congrats on starting two projects. It's so funny, because the projects I'm looking to create are fantasy as well as contemporary. Being an author is my dream. I started writing multiple projects, but never get through them. There is so much conflicting information. I just read the snowflake method book. That helped me a lot to understand outlining, so that is good. Like you said it's whatever works for you. The goal is to write the book. Edit and revise later although I tend to edit as I go. Good luck with your writing adventures North American sister. :)

WOW! I'm listening to you answer questions and many resonate to me. When I write I have to turn off my inner critic too. It's so hard though sometimes. What's your favorite go to when you get a "block"? One thing I do is go somewhere and "people" watch. As odd as that sounds, I find that sometimes some small gesture or something I overhear as someone walks by pushes me over that hurdle. Love watching you, and thanks for the updates and the book recommendations.

if you can't get over 10k, just realize that's life. you have to work hard, and grow as a writer. then you will add more words. I was stuck at 20k for a few years before I broke past it. I realized that I didn't really know WHAT to write in the past. I didnt understand plot & scenes. like nothing made sense in my head, then it started to.

Thank you for the writing video :) I agree with the snacking while writing, I can't do that either :D But some sort of drink is a must too :) and yes, being consistent while writing is difficult, but I am sure you can manage it! Also, finding a writing buddy to be accountable with does wonders, but I found it important to have a friend who is disciplined to write too, not someone who writes once a month ^^; I love naming characters, it's the first thing I do before I start a project :D I am glad you found names you love for your characters. :) Good luck with your writing! Can't wait for more videos in the Book Writing series!

Excited to read your books! I enjoyed getting a peak into the process. P.s I love that coffee mug...I have the entire collection of the provinces and territories (birthday gift for my husband). We are going to make a coffee mug rack to display them on our kitchen wall. We recently did a camping road trip from southern Ontario to Vancouver island BC and can't wait to do eastern Canada so the mugs are perfect!
