I love how Paizo is consistent in its unique and very thorough world building of Pathfinder, with sometimes very unique and other times very familiar features in political, religious, historical or sociological terms. I discovered PF with the Owlcat games, but your videos made me love it even more and very eager to try the TT version one day !

Druma does seem like a very interesting concept for a nation. A government run by a spiritual religion about getting rich, it's like a very twisted Buddhism with their tenets about austerity. And for the common citizen, it also feels pretty similar to modern types of "wealth worship" where there's all those videos and books trying to sell people the idea that they'll get magnificently rich as long as they wake up at 4am, do breathing exercises and not take any luxuries for themselves, when the reality is most wealthy people were either born wealthy and got wealthier, or they got lucky in one way or another, and any penny pinching they supposedly do is an illusion to keep up their own personal mythology. It feels like a great place to make some real scummy, but maybe uncomfortably real, villains because the Kalistocrats really do elicit the same disgust for me in all the ways real ultrarich or wannabe ultrarich people do except it's an actual codified cult instead of just a figurative one. All that said, good video, keep on keeping on.
I agree. Kalistocrats make for some great villains. Also, (and I think I said this in a comment somewhere) making this video has really motivated me to play a Kalistocrat as a PC next time I'm a player in someone else's game. There's so much cognitive dissonance in this religion, it feels like it would be fun to play around with.

@@TheMythKeeper The Kalistocracy is Mormonism. I live about 20’ outside of the second-largest Mormon population city in the US. I can see the parallels between the Kalistocracy and Mormonism because of my proximity to a huge Mormon population. The writers aren’t even trying to hide it. It’s a blatant parallel.
I've been thinking that too! It'll have to compete with a metal monogate focused around Silver, focused around fighting lycanthropes and miscellaneous creatures weak to silver. Perhaps trying to upgrade their silver to mithral, or whatever the remaster changed it to.
Druma was a bit like Nidal for me. Its not an area I have used extensively in my own games, so doing the research for this video really surprised me. As per usual Paizo has a really fascinating level of depth to each corner of the world. Definitely a learning experience for me reading up on Druma. I really want to play an Oracle of Metal (theming the metal as gold of course) who is tentatively exploring the path of the Kalistocrat some day.

I have some bad news for you, Kyonin (and the Five Kings Mountains) are among the few regions I have yet to make a video about. I backloaded these regions because early on I did an elf and dwarf ancestry guide video that vaguely talked around these territories. Have no fear, I will eventually do a Kyonin video. I love the Prophets of Kalistrade. They have all these complex rules of behavior, but every single one comes with the same asterisk: Break this rule, if it makes you more money.

A suggestion if you're running low on ideas (as if, lol); Perhaps a rundown of the basic plot elements of the larger APs and their impact on the current Golarion setting? I know you mention the results in various videos, but something a bit more thorough would be appreciated to someone like myself who doesn't have the time to read them all myself.

Another excellent video. Something I didn't get a sense though, is how the Kalistocracy view Tar Baphon ? Is there a great worry that the Whispering Tyrant will invade and destroy Druma like the Gravelands ?
There is a great worry in the entire Isle of Dread region that the Whispering Tyrant will invade and destroy any one of those nations - Belkzen, Ustalav, Nirmathas, and even Molthune, Druma and Razmiran. However Tar Baphon is still injured from his last encounter with a group of heroes and is being careful about how far he stretches his strength this time. It looks like Druma and the other nations here have a little time to prepare for his next move.
Unrelated question: is there a crime-y AP out there? My group joked around, that they want to play as the "Kobold Mafia" in Kingmaker, but now got serious about that. Now, from what we talked about so far, their idea of how to play their Kobold Mafia, this idea doesn't seem to lend so well for Kingmaker in particular. So I thought, maybe there's an AP out there, that fits the theme better, to present to my group as an alternative for their Kobold Mafia run, so they can make a party, that fits the Kingmaker AP more. Is there an AP, that you can play as a chaotic group of kobolds, that build/lead a crime syndicate, without that Playstyle interfering with the Story?
I feel like there's probably a way to do this with Extinction Curse. In that adventure, you are performers in a traveling circus. You could spin it such that its a kobold circus, and you could also make it a front for a criminal group. I don't know, there's probably a bit more massaging needed, but it could work.
Sorry if this is a question that's been asked before, but are there any plans in the work to do a regional deepdive on Tian Xia? I'm hoping to GM a Season of Ghosts campaign in the near future and I'd love to expand my knowledge about the nations of Tian Xia, most notably Shenmen where the book takes place.
This is a great character concept. Honestly you could be a Drumish Kellid living in any of the surrounding countries as well. This character would work in a Nirmathi campaign (like Ironfang Invasions) or a Mindspin Mountains game like Giantslayer. Or even in the recent 2E Highhelm AP as well.
Would Druma be considered a theocracy since they're a cult centered around a holy figure? Or do you have to have divine power backing you to be considered such? Thanks for the video!
This sounds like a mix between the rituas of thedragons and a devotion for Abadar/Irori (In the Drconomicon from 3.5 ed of D&D, the dragons use they hoard to extend his lifetime, and to "pay" for better afterlife, i thing to bahamut or tiamat). Well based on the fact that they seemingly predicted the coming of Tar-Baphon it looks like the most powerful prophets have figured out a way to predict things anyway. I think in terms of the power of their divination magic, this resides in the hands of your GM.

Honestly, the Kalistocrats don’t strike me as that bad? Like they’re an organization made up of mortals, so there’re gonna be problems obviously. But a religion focused around building your connections with other people, avoiding conflict wherever possible, and that is generally accepting of other systems of belief sounds pretty chill. The bougie afterlife is a bit sketch given that it’s restricted to only the elite of the faith, but given the process required to implement it, I can’t really see that as anything but inevitable. And it’s not like that takes away the meaning of the faith for the less successful believers
Hey I like this read on this Kalistocracy. They do get kind of a bad rap, but tbh, they were way better for the Drumish people than the dwarves were. (Its still a theocracy and effectively a dictatorship though, so let's say - there's some room for societal improvement here...)

If you just tell the world vaguely, “Oh something bad is about to happen” you’re not gonna do much other than burn credibility. Did Druma profit from this? Absolutely, but simultaneously it cannot be denied that they were helping, committing their most elite troops to a fight with what is most likely the most powerful lich on Golarion. Likely losing many in the process
Haven't finished the video yet so maybe it's answered later, but if they all get mummified and have private afterlives, then where are the tombs of those dead sleepers? You'd think they'd have to be very heavily guarded and secret I'd imagine considering how many demon lords would love to get their hands on something like that.

Only Pathfinder Society adventures I believe. No full 6-book APs have been set in Druma yet to date.
