    Great tips!
As a side sleeper myself I find the tip with the pillow very valuable. Thanks Jim. You’re spot on about pre adjusting the strap. In 2021 I took a fall on ice in the upper part of Glacier Gorge in RMNP and fractured the head of my left humerus in three places. My shoulder seized up while waiting for the bone to heal. After two months of PT I was able to go on a backpacking trip in the Chisos Mountains by using the same pre adjusted strap method you mention. My physical therapist actually suggested it.
    Keep on sharing that wisdom!👍

Thanks for watching! I’m glad to hear your PT suggested the same idea. I hope you healed well.

Hey, couple of more tips for ya. I too use a knee pillow, but I use the sea to summit because is so light. Get a shoulder pocket that can hold a 1L bottle and keep it on the left side to help balance the bottles in the right side pocket. Don’t know if a hammock is possible or desirable but could help with hip pain. Good luck. 👍

Those are great tips! Thanks for sharing! The pillow I carry is pretty light, I don’t know how it compares to the Sea to Summit, but it had the notable benefit of me already owning it and not having to buy anything new haha. My camera (which is only slightly heavier that a liter of water) hangs from the left shoulder strap. I LOVE hammock sleeping. And do use mine when and where I can. I spend a lot of time above the tree line.

I’m a slide sleeper as well. I’m not sure why the extra pillow never came to mind but I can’t wait to give it a go. Thanks for the tips. Hope you continue to heal. Happy trails!

I can definitely relate to the hip pain! I sometimes use my puffy as a makeshift pillow but now that I am able to do more resupplies I think I will seriously consider caring an extra UL pillow to place between my knees since it seems to fit better. Great video & keep up the great content!

I’ve used puffy jackets, clothes bags, even a stuff sac full of other stuff sacs haha. But the pillow is the best option I’ve found.

Good video, this is reassuring I recently did some cartilage/fracture damage to my shoulder and was worried I wouldn’t be able to backpack

I hope some of these tips help! I’ve been able to continue, solo and with friends (which is easier, as long as you’re willing to ask for help!) but it is something that can be done!

Injuries are the worst. Janet has experienced shoulder pain due to her former job but she’s been doing PT. I’ve had plantar fasciitis and knee injuries to deal with, but then we’re just day hikers. Good luck.

Injuries are tough to manage on the trail no matter how long you’re out for. I hope you both find relief.

Injury in any capacity is just not fun. Hope your shoulder heals quickly!

@@LostAgainwithJim I've done the pillow thing for years at home. On the trail, I use my clothes sack, but it helps if it's small and can keep from compressing a bunch.

that’s a good idea. One less this thing carry too.
