I've been chartering for about 30 years now, and these guys are the first outfit I've found where their working setups are at least the same quality I buy for myself. They have quality gear that is fun to fish with, and that is a HUGE deal to me. I still take my own gear, but you will not be disappointed with theirs. Also they are a hoot to fish with and when Jake isn't falling overboard he works his butt off. :) We'll see you in the fall when these silly silver minnows are gone Cap.
Just broke that rod on the first small fish about a 15lb red, brought the rod back and dealer said had a few of those broken and said they don’t even offer the 8ft anymore, rod did feel weak will stick to the teramar
We’ve been using them for three years with very little issue but haven’t really caught anything less than 80lbs on one maybe the 15lb red was more than it could take! Use what you like.
St. Pete folk! Worked for Gator Jims before and knew ppl in upper level management with them. They use to talk about hating poor people and how poors and blacks shouldnt be allowed to fish. I would NOT support them. Went to Dogfish and they told me the line was fine on my old ass reel (it wasnt) so they wouldnt have to replace it. Guess they were banting and didnt wanna stop talking so I ignored the advice I knew was bad and left. So not real fond of either of those options in St. Pete. Prefer Betts Fishing first and St. Pete Fishin Outfitters second.
Our go to is 50-60 lb braid on them just so you can get distant on your cast and still put a lot of pressure on the fish without running the risk of breaking off.

Where have you been hooking the tarpon and what bait have you been using early in the season since there aren’t that much pass crabs yet
We’ve been fishing a lot of bridges and passes using mostly white bait.
It’s also good to check bridge lights at night!

Love your content, would you use a 8k on a 7ft rod ?
Absolutely! Our old setups were 8ks with a 7ft rod we just like using the 8ft rods for casting lighter baits.

We usually run 50-60 lb braid so we’re able to make long cast and still have a heavy enough line to put a lot of pressure on the fish!
