You’re doing some great job on TH-cam! I subscribed before a week or so, watching your honest DJI OM 5 review just win me over! I was planning to buy it because it’s budget and as per many reviews is crazy good.. Indeed I found you here talking 20+mins about the OM 5 and now my final decision is to invest more or to search more for a budget quality gimbal. Are you planning to make a video for let’s say top 3 best budget gimbals? I will be pretty happy watching it and I think a lot of ppl out there will be happy too! Thanks buddy. But I have to be honest, outside the Feiyutech G6 Max and the Zhiyun Crane M3, I would not be able to recommend another gimbal. Yes they are abit expensive, but you get quality that will last. The G6 Max is currently at discounted rate from what was 6 months ago, which means you can get a good discount, but that probably means they are soon releasing something new, probably 2-3 months down the line....

Thank You Samuel for this awesome comparison!! For me, it was a toss up between the Crane M3 & the G6 Max. I can honestly say, I'm extremely happy I chose the Crane M3! I've been using it now for over a month....... the more I use it, the more I love it!! Size & features are perfect for my iPhone 13 Pro Max and GoPro Hero 10. The motors are more than adequite and setup & adjustments are a breeze!! I'm up and running easily within 2 minutes from fully collapsed to shooting! Best part, some of the adjustments are the same between both devices!! I know I spent a little more $$ than the other two but, in my book, it's been well worth it....... and I haven't even used the built in light yet! As always, thank you for all of your reviews & comparisons on these gimbals!! Your No BS user reviews helped me tremendously in making my decision...... For that, I'm extremely greatful my friend!! 👍😊

I wish I had seen your review of the DJI Osmo 6 before I purchased it. Thanks for the honest review! After watching a few of your videos I'm returning the DJI and getting the G6 Max.
I think this is a great decision. However, if you can wait for a few days, I am posting a review of the new zhiyun smooth 5S over the coming weekend. It might be a curve ball worth considering…. But the G6 Max is a great choice if you decide to go for it!

I have one in the carda for the crane M3 and the Scorp mini. Not sure about the TmRS3 mini. To me it feels a very complicated gimbal… But food for thought…
Samuel! Have you discovered, that you can buy an extra handle for the FeiyuTech G6 Max. It comes complete with Allen key and two screws for attatching it to the two threads next to the mini screen. This makes the handling much more stable

G6 Max was on Lightning Deal on Amazon US yesterday for $169 sold by FeiyuTech Official so I pulled the trigger. Thanks for the reviews and comparisons.

@@SamuelSotiega As a certified gear-head there's certainly appeal to having the latest and greatest and the Crane M3 looks to be that. But I'm brand new to mobile filmmaking and my goal is really just improving family videos, so a cheaper option is more prudent since who knows if I'll even stick with it over time. And if I do keep at it and grow into wanting something more, I can just get the latest and greatest 1-2 years from now. Thanks again for your videos. I've enjoyed watching your comparisons even for models I wouldn't consider. I like your format and honesty. Enjoyed the couple of how-to's I have seen as well, especially as a beginner. Great info!! On Amazon US there is a $170 difference in price between the G6Max and M3. As also a Filmic Pro user, is the M3 worth me paying that difference?
At $179 is a steal! Plus you can always return it for a refund is not happy… I would go for it… cash is king and the best place is in the bank. If you can save yourself half what you would pay for a M3… seems like a good deal to me, and then you can decide…. But then again, the M3 is a great gimbal… all down to personal taste…

I have never had an issue with the G6 Max, even when using the widest 15mm lens. So the answer is, no, you won’t see parts of the gimbal...

Hello. Amazing video like allays. Could you confirm that tracking option on the M3 world?
Yes, it does, for smartphones. In the ZY play app, you get a small round dot in the bottom left of the app. If you press it you enter the tracking feature.
So I was looking for a gimbal that can handle the small mirrorless cameras and vertical shots on iPhone 13 pro max with/without extra lenses. I choose M3. And it does not work for Verticals, I can't balance it, way too top-heavy. I end up using an extra 250 gr Counterweight to balance it, I attached it to the bottom of the lock plate - that did a job. The setup is weird but hey as long as it works...
Oleksandre, you’re right on the money, you need to make it work. I reviewed this gimbal on a separate video and managed to get vertical to work, although not as straight forward as one would wish. Do you do a lot of vertical filming?
Thank you for the review! As an Android user I find it hard to find a gimble which gives me the option to shoot hyperlapses on 4k while tracking a subject. Do you know if these ones can do that on a samsung phone? I could do the timelapse with the native camera app on the phone, but then I need to track subjects manually

I have never used a ronin sc, so I can’t give you any hand’s on experience or feedback. However, what I can say is that I am using lately the crane m3 with my canon m6 mk2 and a 11-22mm lens and it works amazing. I highly recommend it for compact mirrorless cameras…

Sounds like you are/ have been able to make up your kind… I think I love the G6 Max jog wheel too much… If the M3 could also have the jog wheel from the G6 Max… That would be such amazing functionality to add to an already great gimbal… but the screen showing you the tension/balancing of all 3 axis from the M3 is also so impressive, I love that feature so much as well…
@@SamuelSotiega The G6 has had some software problem in the middle of a long shoot that we had to turn it off and restart it so it would operate correctly. Since we started using the M3 we have never had any issues. Love your great videos and all your help Thank You !

Damn you, too perfect both of them. I am leaning towards g6 max due to price, but the only "downside" is that there is no EU store in case of some problems. Other than that seems to be perfect gimbal for me 😊🙏🏼
Yes there is a store in the Bradford, UK that repairs it. Lencarta. They actually repaired mine when I needed

@@exzemoron no, it works great. I just had one motor that got a hit in a job and got damaged. They fixed it in no time. They are the official repair shop in Europe for Feiyutech.

@@exzemoron i am reviewing soon the zhiyun smooth 5S in case you want to wait. It is around $170-220 depending on accessories… but is is smartphone only, no hybrid like the G6 Max. I did reviewed the smooth 5 some time ago and it is not that different… The thing with gimbals is that there are always new models coming out so you could spend weeks being indecisive with so many changing options… I do believe the choice you are making is a good one!!!
Okay... I was going for G6 Max but I need to use a cage with my Galaxy S22 Ultra (there are no cases for this phone yet and even cages I'll have to try it out... this phone lenses design are totally different from every phone out there). But the fact the G6 is not really well design to handle a bad weight distribution (cage + lens + ND filter) I think the best gimbal, for my purpose must be M3.
I'm just like you... in a demand for the perfect gimbal (and as I'm not an iphone user, I'm also in the demand for cases or cages for Samsung phones arghhh).
In doubt I have about the M3 is that I love to do Time-lapses and Hyperlapses. G6 works out of the app, so I can set all manual settings I want in Filmic Pro (the native apps that comes with both gimbal have way more limitations on Android than iOS due to manufacturers close their camera2.api on Android). On M3 I can only do timelapses using their app right? Not on Filmic Pro right?
And what about Hyperlapses? Do they work fine on M3? I see that there is no tracking feature on M3 right?
Darn.... it is hard to chose, but the weight distribution on the phone I must go for M3....
You can do timelapses on the M3 either on the Zhiyun app, or you can set the app to remote control, and set it up so you can do timelapses on filmic pro. Very cool actually. I haven’t tested hyperlapses, but look, trick for hyperlapse, just shoot normal and then speed up by as fast as you want, and you’ll get your hyper-lapse. I couldn’t see a specific setting in the ZY Play app for hyperlapse…. The G6 max will handle fine phone case and filter upright, even a lens also. I actually have a recent video about balancing the G6 Max where I give different configurations, both upright and upside down. You might find that video interesting… tough choice, I know!

Of course it does. There is no need to have a gimbal in the support list of an appS they are totally different things. I use it all the time, no issues whatsoever.

It has to do with payloads and feature. The G6 Max being the one that offers the most, but I couldnlt really recommend one over another as that is something only you can decide ased on your shooting style and needs.

Well, I always recommend not to add any cables to whatever camera or phone you mount on a gimbal. Because it will have an effect on the balance or movement. I guess you could mount the receiver to the gimbal itself via the 1/4inch thread…. I always record the sound on a small tascam h1n so that nothing throws the balance off in the gimbal… is that even a possibility at your end?

The only thing holding me from the G6 Max is it was released so long ago. I would expect them to release a G7 Max anytime now.
Who knows when that will be relased though. However, I have asked Feiyutech this and waiting on their response, in case they say something, which I doubt. If they do, I'll let you know!

The indoor studio was shot on a Canon Mk6 mk2, the outdoor on an iphone 13 and 13 pro max.

@@angorets77 it’s quite a set up as I use an atomos ninja V to record both video and audio so the canera doesn’t overheat. If you use canon batteries and record on canera; the camera will reheat when filming at 4K after 35-45 minutes non stop recording. So unless you have the necessary kit to overpass oncamera recording (for talking heads) I wiuld consider other camera options… i also have a lot of Canon L series zooms with a metabones adaptor, but that is a story for a video I am making soon about this camera set up and how I pimped it. The main thing, for talking heads recording on camera, i wouldn’t recommend the m6 mk2.

Hey Samuel! I recently purchased the Zhiyun Smooth 5 based on your reviews as I believed it would be the best fit for me. I wanted to use my Samsung S22 Ultra with it. Unfortunately it seems there is one significant design flaw no one on TH-cam seems to cover. Shooting in portrait does not work on bigger phones with the Smooth 5. I found this out the hard way as I just got my Smooth 5 and found my Samsung S22 Ultra (no case) hits the bottom bar when balanced. In fact, it hits very easily and not just barely. Major bummer since the Smooth 5 is advertised as a gimbal to handle the bigger phones. Apparently that only pertains to payload. Can't believe they would design a gimbal and never try bigger phones to ensure they work in both portrait and landscape. I understand you use an iPhone but I was wondering if you knew of a gimbal that could handle a Samsung S22 Ultra without having to worry about it hitting the bar below when balancing for portrait shooting?
I tested this with my iPhone 13 pro max, which is the largest iPhone you can get and it was fine. I did find that certain moves could hit the bottom (when correctly balanced) due to the large size of the 13 pro max. However, if I moved the phone slightly up to give it enough clearance to avoid hitting the bottom, I found the motors to be strong enough to compensate for the phone being slightly off alignment in vertical mode, because of this adjustment. Could this work as the same fix for you?
@@SamuelSotiega I will test this out and revert back to you. However, I do wonder if this will affect the longevity of the gimbal since it has to work extra to balance the phone. Does the G6 Max have this same limitation or is there ample room for a phone when vertical shooting?
What is the best kind?
For smartphone only filming, with no accessories, the smooth 5 would be my choice, any time.

Yea I just re watched that video and I also watched your g6max vs smooth 5 review, I was on the fence between those 2 but I supposed the smooth 5 would be better for me because I mostly film vertical videos
@@markoveli5613 the big question you need to ask is whether you use accessories or not. It’s all about payload, as I say in the videos. The smooth 5 is a great gimbal and really easy to use, integration with the zhiyun app is good and overall, a really good experience.

It depends on the amount of accessories you use when filming with the smartphone. It’s all about payload. Do you use many accessories or just the phone by itself?

Can M3 and m2s have face tracking?
Crane M3 yes, there is a little circle ⭕️ on the bottom left of the app that if you press you can draw draw a square on whatever you want to track. It works really good. The M2S is a gimbal I no longer have but I would imagine it does too… But I can only say for certain about the M3.
