Do you think AI tracking is useful for orbit/panning style shoots? (I have no need for any other use cases of tracking) Moving in semicircle around the subject keeping it in the middle of the frame.
Mostly I would like to know if the tracking is smooth enough (I've seen videos of generic tracking usage where the gimbal moves way to fast left and right) and if it can help in this kind of shoots or I should not choose a gimbal based on AI tracking only (again for my particular case)
Do you have a shot I can look at as reference of what you have in mind?

Thanks for the reminder! I have used it in the past a few times for this same orbit effect and it has worked a treat. Especially if you walk steadily but not super fast and it allows you to also change the angle, go up and down, without having to worry so much about keeping the person in frame, because the tracker does it.

I like how you review gimbals. I stumbled on your video as someone who didnt think I care for gimbals, then after one video I made a budget of $150 for a gimbal. Then by the second video I decided to buy the MT2 which is way above my budget lol. I am the sort of person who suffers from analysis paralyiss when shopping but your videos helped make this purchase easy because it answered all the questions for me.
Thanks for your feedback. I can tell you right now that the MT2 is a good investment. Sometimes oyu spend a little more than you want but you get something exponentially better than you would if you stick to a cheaper option, The MT2 gives you so many options. If you create content and film yourself, it will be absolutely amazing for you. it is actually the gimbal I use the most and the only one I keep in ym camera bag, permanently...
Another great gimbal comparison. Helped a lot. I'd be using it mainly for real estate interiors and they need to be buttery smooth. I won't be doing much vertical filming and I never film myself so the AI tracking won't be that useful. The main thing I like about the MT2 is the 3/4 mount on the top but that's not a deal breaker. I think the M3s would probably suit me better mainly due to the better stabilisation which I felt was very noticable in the comparison. Anyway thanks again for another great gimbal review / comparison.
I think the M3S is the way to go for you. Yes, stabilisation wise I feel the zhiyun is better. For your real estate work, have you ever consider a motorized slider?

I have looked at motorised sliders in the past, I used to work for a company that had a motion control camera rig (that was used on Star Wars) which was amazing so it's something I should look into again.

I stumbled upon your review while checking on a gimbal for zve10/sigma18-50 combo. Initially i was only looking at RS3 mini and Crane M3s.
Now with hohem mt2 on the list, it's getting harder to choose 😂😂😂😂

Hi @@SamuelSotiega , how are you doing? I've finally bought a gimbal and it's the MT2. Got it on sale here in PH for around 235 USD. Seems good to me but I have nothing to compare it to. Maybe for a seasoned videographer it may not be the most stable but for me this is way better than handheld lol. I don't like the cropping of active stab. If i need a more stabilized gimbal footage i might just run it through gyroflow for just a bit of crop.

I don’t know. But I would suggest you reach out to Hohem and ask them. They have measurements that they can compare… unless you have a spare base that you can screw onto the MT2 base plate and the. Mount the F30 plate on…

Hi, great review. I am interested to know if Hohem finally released a firmware where you can change the aperture, and shutter for sony cameras.
Not that I know of... I just stick to do it manually and that way I don't rely on the gimbal to do anything else, other than what the gimbal is there to do, stabilise the footage...

@@SamuelSotiega I was so close to M3S but this AI tracker in MT2 is really something very useful for me since I do some shots alone. I m using APS-C cameras and both gimbals fit in my needs.. This Ai tracker makes me think again which one to get :)
Watched gimbal videos all day, and I think I am selling my weebill S for MT2, solves my smartphone gimbal search, too.
If tracking is something you feel it is important, it is a compelling argument... But remember that core stabilization might not be as smooth and even though you can still get amazing results, it might require a little bit more of work/ technique/ stable hands

Hola Samuel, thank you for the video, fantastic job. I was going to buy the M3S and then i saw on Facebook this MT2 and decided to investigate first on youtube.I first found a video comparison of Arthur R
and now saw yours. If (no IF unless someone comes with the same tracking technology) it's only cause of this tracking technology as in 60% of the video i m the subject and the cameraman I badly need this and i will use it more as a tripod gimbal.

I use the MT2 in most of my videos when I need movement and I am demonstrating something. It's like having a camera person. To me, that is a very important feature so the MT2 always travels with me. But if I need the best stabilization, with a lot of adjusting parameters, the M3S offers more. It all depends on what's most important to you... But either one of them would be a good choice!!
@@SamuelSotiegaThank you for replying I have already a gimbal for camera but is a dinosaur Feiyu Tech AK4500 great features great stabilisation but excluding for testing I never used I need something smaller. Whenever I travel I only take the Moza Mini S for mobile phone and used the Sony a 6400 hand held with 18-105 or on tripod with Sigma lenses but the MT2 I will take it with me. One more time thank you.

Hi Samuel. Your videos are fantastic. Thank you. I too wish MT2 had deadband adjustment. Is the “sensitivity” setting in the Hohem Joy app the closest thing there is to deadband?
Great comparison... the bit when you switch the MT2 on the fly... how the hell did you do that? Mine does not let me move it with my hands? 5:49
Thanks for the feedback. You need to have the gimbal at a 60-75 degree angle. If you hold it straight up it won't do it. I hope it helps. Let me know if you manage!!

@@fittestyou yes, the gimbal is on as you operate it as normal. Incline the gimbal to 45-60 degrees and then do it. Let me know if you can manage.

I'm completely new to gimbals. I've watched your two reviews and the head-to-head, and I'm still not sure 😅 I love the idea of AI tracking and can see how I could use, but is deadpan such a deal-breaker? And is it something that Hohem could introduce in a future firmware update?

you plan to use a camera or a phone for your filming? If stabilisation is the preferred motive for getting a gimbal, the M3S will give you better adjustments and smoother experience. That doesnlt mean the MT2 is bad, not at all. You will get brilliant results too, you just need to be a bit more on-point because the M3S is a little but more forgiving. Now, if you value tracking for your own content creation, for filming yourself, others, etc. the MT2 blows the M3S out of the water. I feel the MT2 is a more complete package because although the stabilization settings and experience is not as neat as with the M3S, you still get great stabilization, you just have to do right all the things with that with M3S you might only need to get 70-80% right, but you get the AI tracker on top, which the M3S does not offer... I hope this helps.. Are you London based these days or left some time ago?
@@SamuelSotiega Thank you for replying so quickly Samuel. I'm planning on using my Canon M50 with a prime 28mm lens. I'm a firm believer in doing things right from the start and that practice makes perfect, so the MT2 doesn't scare me. The AI tracking is a bonus and not the main reason for which I'm getting a gimbal, which is travel videos. As you say, there isn't a perfect gimbal and I'm leaning towards the MT2 which is going to be hands down better than hands-free 😁
I'm based in Sardinia and only get back home about once a year, unfortunately 😞

Which gimbal you prefer btw Zhiyun Crane M3, Hohem MT2 or DJI RS3 Mini....I want to buy gimbal but little bit confused btw these gimbals...also there is no any tested payload for Zhiyun Crane M3. Do you have any idea....?
Check out a recent video I made for the RS3 mini vs the crane M3 and the Weebill 3S. You might find it helpful. I would prefer the Crane M3 over the RS3 mini. The stabilization is really good. If tracking is important to you, the MT2 is the way to go. If purely stabilization is important to you, the crane M3 is, in my opinion, the way to go. Smaller than the RS3 mini, similar if not the same menu options and functionality, but better design. The RS3 mini,. to me, sits in no man's land. It can't compete with higher payload gimbals, and neither it can with similar range gimbals that are actually smaller and more compact, like the crane M3. I am actually reviewing the mini 2 and the scorp 2 in the new year so stay tuned for that video! Until then, as I am away on holidays, I am not able to give an opinion as I do have the units, but not yet started using them.. But it will happen in January
I purchased the MT 2, however it will have to be returned, because it is defective. You can balance it, everytime you turn it on it says Error 01. Now the seller refuses to take it back, because he is situated in China. Well we will have ebay take care of that and then order it directly from hohem, Great comparison Samuel, thanks a lot. Does face tracking of hohem mt2 work or track human face or move according to the movement of human face during whatsap or zoom calls ? Plz make video on that topic to show it
Yes, it does, as long as you use the AI tracker. The in-app tracker needs to have the app running in the foreground, but the AI tracker is independent of the app. I Have actually used a couple of times the Mt2 with my smartphone on whatsapp calls and a zoom meeting

Because you already have the kit lens, which will give you a decent range in daylight conditions, I think the lens you are considering is a good one, fast and with good reviews, both on youtube and also online. Is there anywhere around where you live that you could hire one in cheaply to test before buying?
@@SamuelSotiega @SamuelSotiega unfortunately not. I watched a lot of Brazilian reviews. They said is an absolute bang for the buck. The only problem is the audio. There is a noise of the autofocus that shows in the recording if you use the camera mic, but I think I can work around this issue with another mic. Thanks for taking the time to answer, helped a lot.

Zhiyun is beautiful, but Hohem is more practical..
Eventhough DJI RS3 Mini has higher payload, it doesn't have active tracking, which is nice addition.
Previously, Ronin SC does have balancing issue due to clearance limit too..

Aha! Someone that compares the one i have vs the one that looks better! I have the Crane M3 but tracking on the MT2 is a feature that's unmatchable. Is it worth selling the M3 for the MT2?
I also see many people saying don't even bother with a gimbal, just use catalyst browse to stabilize after...
Uff, hard for me to say buy this or that.... Have yuou watched my reviews for both individually and whether that helps a bit better in making that decision? The M3 is a great gimbal, don't get me wrong.... But if tracking is important for you.....

I have Crane M3, my setup is Canon r6 + many lenses, I found out that I can't use with something like 24-105 L and more...so I can use it with only fixes mini lenses wtf...and this gimbal is like unusable for me, after this pain) I think that only way to go is DJI's who can carry waaaay more than this.
Or I need to give a chance to hohem mt2? If even m3 doesn't carry my camera, will mt2 carry it? Hmm

@@SamuelSotiega your vids helped me diagnose that I wasn't wrong and trippin due to balancing 🤣 I'm using action cams the first step for balancing is kinda null n void there's no balancing point that balances straight up and down unless in vertical I'm using a go pro 12 which doesn't need the mount feet adapter to camera mount it has a 1/4 thread built in do I need weights or should I use the provided feet to 1/4 adapter to raise the cam in horizontal positioning that's the only real issue for balancing but when I got it a week or so ago it worked fine the rest of the steps in the balancing process then it didn't 🤣🤣

Hace poco adquiri el hohem mt2 porque no encontraba uno tan versátil que sirva para todo ....go pro, camara y movil y ahora me aparece este video xD jajajajjaa gracias creo que si el mt2 soportara hasta 2kg y tuviera un sistema como el de el crane seria el mejor del mercado en todos los sentidos espero que lo mejoren yo de momento lo adquiri para blog y edicion de fotos y video de momento en casa, más adelante en exteriores, pero buscaba uno algo mas compacto tipo el insta flow, pero siento que se queda corto en movimiento
Yo tambien espero que cuando saquen el MT2 version 2 hagan un monton de mejoras y que sea incluso mejor. El margen de mejora esta claro donde lo tiene que hacer... Pero si, tienes razon, es muy versatil.
