4 years later and your still helping folks with this video. I just did 3 sides of my house “vinyl siding “ and about 100ft of vinyl fence . Saved a ton of money. Thank you
Thanks so much for your videos! I am a single mom and a homeowner and I appreciate all of your knowledge! I cleaned 1/2 of my house today and it looks brand new! The spray pump method is time consuming and hard work for a girl that’s 5’3, BUT I just saved hundreds of dollars! Thank you so much Dan!!!
Wow. This worked really well. Followed your instructions to the letter. Was a little disappointed that the grease marks I was trying to remove from composite decking were still there. However, after rinsing this down and allowing the sun to dry the decking - they have completely disappeared! Thank you so much. My husband was very skeptical but we have proved him wrong! :)
Dan you are show and tell technique of teaching. That is one of the most effective way to teach. Specially from people who are slow in comprehension. You are helping alot of people specially those who has a pressure washing business.
Hello Dan! I just wanted to thank you! I have been watching and learning from your videos you post and I had my first house wash today (my wife helped and did great) and with your tips for soft wash I did it with a garden hose and a sprayer! finished a 2 story in 3 hours (took my time cause I was nervous) but got the job done and made money! This gets me motivated to keep going!
I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. After watching your videos I went out and bought the bleach and pump sprayer for my house. It all worked flawlessly. Thank you.
This guys is awesome he got straight to the point. Not like these other pressure washer guru’s who say “ to learn how to dilute but my course and I’ll teach you”
Just started my pressure washing business and had no clue on how to mix bleach. This has helped me tremendously! Thank you for your knowledge, time and kindness.
Great video Dan. I love that smell too, smells like...money. I use this method on the really heavy green walls. For the rest of the house I use your mix for the siphon of my machine. I also use the pink and blue nozzles you showed us in one of your vids. They are awesome! My business boomed last year and I expect it to explode this year. Thank you for all the tips in your videos. I pre soak everything (grass, shrubbery and trees) with water. I also pre treat any surfaces to be cleaned with the solution and it makes my surface cleaning quicker and cleaner.
New business here, this is my first year. Anything in particular that worked to get your business to boom, a certain form of marketing or anything? Or just quality work + persistence + time?
I started power washing my vinyl siding with a 1500 psi electric washer, 1.5 hours later I had cleaned 6’ high and 4’ wide, thinking to myself this is going to take 3 weeks to finish. I purchased the exact pool cleaner at Sutherlands and mixed it exactly as stated. In 10-15 minutes of spraying an area twice the size I started power washing the vinyl looked clean, I rinsed it off with power washer and it looked brand new. You the Man !! Thanks
Thank you for your reply, you was talking about the bleach and I have noticed that it doesn't smell as strong as it did, I got a case of bleach and it hardly had a smell to, I thought it was just my nose not being able to smell the bleach but now I know why, when I got it from the store it was old already, I just started watching your videos about a week ago and I have learned a lot from watching them thanks,
The solution has worked very well, and with just normal hose pressure to rinse the solution off, its done a great job on its own, but combined with a jet/pressure washer then it be so clean and so bright to, so in my opinion this is a great video and not boring at all as you have educated with this video, keep up the good work mate

Or go to a pool supply and get 2.5 gallons for under $5 of the same strength. Beware, most store brand bleach is 2-3% so you will need more if you go the generic route.
Wow! Thank you for the information. I used your method today on my son's large two story house's North side, about 500 sq ft. There was so much green mold that it looked more green than white. I used your method except that we powerwashed it to rinse. Now, one can't tell it from its brand new look. And, it costs only about $5 in material! Thanks!

What Dan is saying is spot on. Because of his videos on soft washing, I was able to start doing it. I started small “Troy Bilt “ washer. Customer had a 4 gallon Honda I was doing, said hey wanna do a trade, he said sure. That’s how I got a 4 gallon per min washer. Win for me. My area normal size home, 300-400 a pop.

Works great!!! Thank you alot!! I used the house hold bleach formula because I couldn't find just the gallons of the pool stuff anywhere near me yet. Hd sells them for 30$ for 4 and I didn't need that much. My Walmart use to sell by gallon not anymore I guess. Thank you again!! Very helpful videos and worked great in the greyish vinyl!
Walmart takes to pull essentials off-the-shelf usually in the fall and will bring them back very late winter early spring. I’m glad it worked out for you
Thank you Dan! I am going to wash my double wide this weekend and went to Lowes to get the pool essentials bleach today. I am a single woman so any help is great!!
Stuff does great used it for several years now. Saved my ass on a house cleaning job where my pressure washer died, still able to get the job done , and even faster than a pressure washer. You taught me well sir!
1% bleach out the tip works awesome....been using Sodium percarbonate but it needs to be agitated via a brush....bleach mix, just spray, wait, rinse...though the Sodium percarbonate does work better on Alum. eavestroughing. Thanks Dan for putting it out there.....has helped me modify my ways and expand my tool box of tricks
Thanks Dan for taking the time to make these videos! I've been watching you since you first started. I just tried this mixture on my house today with just a water hose and 2gal sprayer. The results were AMAZING! I know with my pressure washer it will be even better. Home Depot has a bleach sprayer that is all plastic. I also bought some HDX bleach (S.H. 8.25%) and mixed with Dawn roughly 6:1. Crap and grime came off like a hot knife through butter. LOL. Now to just get get one of those after pump inlets you linked.
Great video! Thank you. BTW DON'T USE PINE SOL with bleach, it is made of an organic acid (glycolic acid) which releases chlorine gas when mixed with the bleach. Use what Dan says or laundry detergent, which is made for use with bleach. HTH.
Hi Dan watching your video in Wales, Great Britain 🇬🇧🏴 I'm a window cleaner and trying my hand at softwashing. Bought some hypo 15% and cant thank you enough for the advice I have a lot of black streeks on my pebble dash wall and will try this mixture and see what happens cheers buddy 😁👍
Dan just wanted to thank you for all the advice. I ordered a 4 gallon backpack per your instructions and will hopefully start today. Bought a Field King Max which builds up to 150 psi with hand pump. Got all the cleaning supplies. Will let you know how it goes. Thank you Dan for sharing your knowledge, appreciate it very much.
Dan ..did about half of my 2800 sq ft house today. It has never come this clean before and I never used the pressure washer. I purchased the Field King Max which sprays at up to 150 psi. The fan nozzle allows for good cover on the underside if the step in the clapboard. Very little physical effort. I am so impressed. I have done my house with a power washer numerous times but my house has NEVER looked this clean. Thank you so much for your advice. One reason I like the Field Master is all the parts are replaceable and easy to order.
@@thejuggan0t25 Depends in the % of active sodium hypochlorite you are using. If using 10.5% you can get away with using around 4-6 cups. If using over the counter Clorox at 7% I might try 10 cups and go from there. Always start out thin. You can always add to the recipe if the yuk isn’t getting cut
I’m 16 and starting a pressure washing business, could I basically double the measurements of all the substances and use it in a downstream tube in a 5 gal bucket and hook it to my gun?
no, the downstream adds water from the pressure washer into your mix, so the mix would be highly diluted. I would suggest getting liquid chlorine, 12.5% sodium hypochlorite mix, and use the pure liquid chlorine because your pressure washer will mix water with it. you can add soap though.
@@mardymaw8809 also be weary of metals that it comes in contact with and make sure to keep your hoses and sprayers clean, the more plastic the better in terms of a spray gun since bleach and chlorine will erode metal if left uncleaned
Dan, every time I watch one of your videos I learn something new! We don't do the house washing thing here in Jamaica, but it is nice to know how! Thanks for sharing the info and the knowledge.
Bumbaclot! Sorry I know I destroyed the spelling!! I am happy to help and maybe one day someone will ask you if you can wash their house and you’ll be a pro!
Dan's Vlog 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂!!! Got me on that one😂! Well, I have learned so much watching you your thing, I'm starting to feel smart! Thanks man, you'd make a helkuva teacher!!
I used household bleach and a small pressure washer 4 times trying to remove the green gunk from my vinyl siding and still had gunk on the house. One pass with this solution and a quick pass with the same pressure washer took care of everything. Since we're in a swampy spot in Florida, I have to do mine about every two months. Hopefully, spraying this solution once a month and rinsing it off will help me maintain the clean without having to spend a whole day pressure washing. :)
Wow, we've probably went through about 50 of those (larger) pump sprayers at my job over the years because no one releases the pressure, cleans them out, is told to clean them / shown how to, and subsequently makes sure that it gets done. Didn't know about that pin either. Systems vs. No Systems.
Good results. I've used a ratio of one to one on the pool chlorine/water. Never tried soap in the mix. After flushing out the backpack sprayer I cranked up the pressure washer to clean off the residue; the siding looked like new. My house has a side wall that gets too much shade, and is notorious for the ugly growth. This time I will add some detergent. thanks!
I do pressure washing for houses concrete etc. We use about a 5/1 ratio in our detergent jug. a gallon of bleach a little bit of water and an OZ of soap the bleach won't hurt vinyl siding but be very careful on any stained or painted wood
If its coming back that quickly every year. Try looking for pool shock. It is 12.5% and it is stronger then what is used in this video. We use it daily and it will take down all your build up
I'm brand new at all of this, so forgive me if this is a stupid question. But why didn't you use a pressure washer to rinse the siding? Also, why not just use a pressure washer to take off all the dirt and algae? Thanks in advance.
I'll often use the same concoction, except I'll add various amounts of Mean Green degreaser, depending on the job. When cleaning my motorized equipment, Dawn, degreaser, and water go a very long way.
I personally enjoyed the no edits , I’m one of those I want to do it exactly how the person on the video did it lol. You made me laugh too I don’t think you meant to be funny but you were. I subscribe and liked the video very educational and I didn’t mind the length at all!!
In 350 comments, maybe someone already mentioned this, but just in case, Dawn dish detergent with ammonia is the one to avoid. As in Dan's demonstration video above, his Dawn dishwashing detergent apparently has no ammonia in it and I've never had a problem with regular Dawn. NEVER use the one with ammonia listed as an ingredient! Did you get that? Under NO circumstances use the one with ammonia to make a house wash mixture or for that matter, to clean anything! On a similarly related topic, regular Dawn dishwashing detergent is death to fleas on infested cats and dogs. If any fleas survive the shampooing, they are only interested in hopping off their host by the time you're toweling them off. (But they won't be able to) And wash from the head to the tail first. If you start with the tail and go towards the head, fleas will take refuge in your pet's ears to survive, and they re-infest. Make sense?
How does your mixture effect surrounding grass / plants?? (of course, i'd guess best precaution would be to rinse plant areas and grass off with addition water)
Dan.. Thanks again for this video. I finally got to clean the siding on my home with your formula and it is working great. Thanks for putting this video and all your other videos out there for us.

It has never come this clean before and
I never used the pressure washer.
Awesome job!!
How many cups of sh dis you put in the 4gallon back pack?
@@thejuggan0t25 Depends in the % of active sodium hypochlorite you are using. If using 10.5% you can get away with using around 4-6 cups. If using over the counter Clorox at 7% I might try 10 cups and go from there. Always start out thin. You can always add to the recipe if the yuk isn’t getting cut
@@DansVlog I'm using the same pool essential stuff you are using
Your videos are always educational and informing. I am confident to just do my own house after they gave me a quote of $600!!
Just remember, You can never mix it too thin, if it doesn't clean it off, just add a little more as needed. YOU GOT THIS!
In what type of Houses will this mixture will work. Also will it work on mobile home
It will work on mobile homes. I use this on painted wood, painted concrete, stucco, and all vinyl colors
@@DansVlog on all colours, or just white?
Ace Hardware has a sprayer specifically for bleach. Not sure what’s different, but it does last longer.
@@tomwitt4490 thanks
@@mardymaw8809 also be weary of metals that it comes in contact with and make sure to keep your hoses and sprayers clean, the more plastic the better in terms of a spray gun since bleach and chlorine will erode metal if left uncleaned
@@GiveMeYoSammich thx
That was a really informative video. Great job
You ARE diluting it, right?
@@DansVlog Oh, yes!
Wow, we've probably went through about 50 of those (larger) pump sprayers at my job over the years because no one releases the pressure, cleans them out, is told to clean them / shown how to, and subsequently makes sure that it gets done. Didn't know about that pin either. Systems vs. No Systems.
So the pump seemed to project the liquid with minimal pumping. Is this true or was it edited out of video.
Loved the time lapse. Inspired me to take out the pressure washer and get to work. Thanks Dan!
Huge round of Applause! 👏👏👍👍 Just a thought for another tutorial is how to do this with a consumer grade pressure washer! 🤔
D Jaquith that’s what I want to no
Good results. This time I will add some detergent. thanks!
My pleasure! Thank you
Awesome stuff...really works! Now, hire a landscaper!! hahaha
Thanks Dan for the instructions that you have given me. I take it as a great lesson. Thank You very much!!!
My pleasure!!
@@DansVlog my only curious question would be… if a house has bad mold.. how much more mix of SH would you mix but not take off the paint.
I do pressure washing for houses concrete etc. We use about a 5/1 ratio in our detergent jug. a gallon of bleach a little bit of water and an OZ of soap the bleach won't hurt vinyl siding but be very careful on any stained or painted wood
I use it on painted wood and concrete
Awsome video! The opposite of most all talk you tube videos. Excellent information.
Used the recipe last year on my house after watching your other video and it worked great. Thanks Dan. Probably need to do it again.
Thank You. We do our house jobs here usually once a year
If its coming back that quickly every year.
Thank you Dan! Your videos are so helpful. I appreciate what you do to share your knowledge and experience.
Thank You Ryan
I also bought one of those RV brushs so if there are any of those stains i just run it on the siding and it really helps .
1 gal water, 1oz. Soap, 1pint SH. Ez to remember.
Clean and clear instruction and right on with my problem with the injector. I simply did not know how it worked. Thanks~!
Paris vonRabenau running bleach through the pump will destroy the seals. The best thing to look for is an upstream injector
Dan, Thanks for the video very helpful and answered many of my questions!
Great to hear!
Love it. Can it be used on 3 year old pressure treated deck?
You said it smells good it smells like MAKING MONEY good way to make a living keep up the good work
I love the smell of mustard gas in the morning 🤪
I'll often use the same concoction, except I'll add various amounts of Mean Green degreaser, depending on the job. When cleaning my motorized equipment, Dawn, degreaser, and water go a very long way.
Yes it does!
Great video! I'll be doing this real soon. Thanks for your time in doing this video! 😊
I personally enjoyed the no edits , I’m one of those I want to do it exactly how the person on the video did it lol. You made me laugh too I don’t think you meant to be funny but you were. I subscribe and liked the video very educational and I didn’t mind the length at all!!
Thank you for this tip. About to start my own pressure washing company.
Make sense?
Good tip with washing pets… I appreciate that, thank you!
I use Arm Hammer laundry detergent
Someone needs to make this the first comment. Video deserves praise, but I had to scroll way down to find this, and it should definitely be pinned.
Awesome Ken!
I used your trick. To help power wash my house. It worked very well!
Thank You for the comment!!
It was off camera for a second there. I am pretty sure you added mustard to the water before adding chlorine and dawn.
Yes but in a gas form 😂😂
