Magnetrons are often used to rescue friendly slave miners when attacked by a group of enemy tanks. You just drag your miners across a cliff into safety.
You can use magnetrons with great effect on Soviet mission 5 (Escape Velocity). But for this you need to capture Yuri's conyard or a war factory. I prefer to base walk across the cliffs to the top where the secret lab is. There I build barracks and a war factory to make flak trucks and engineers to capture nearby laser towers. Then I capture the rest of Yuri's buildings in the area, including conyard. Then I build a bunch of magnetrons and viruses to wreak havoc on his main base at the bottom. Psychic reveal comes in very handy, too.
omg the Magnetron, the essential tool for a competent competitive Yuri player. I hate this thing....unless I'm commanding it. :P You need to do some deeper testing with Magnetrons to show off how much weaker the unit is while airborne. This makes Magnetrons and Gatling Tanks (and maybe a Master Mind or two) a strong force to deal with. Oh, yea, and to show off wtf glitch shit is going on when you Magnetronize Harriers/Black Eagles, and if you can target Kirovs or Discs that are just exiting War factories. The Harriers and Eagles, I know will screw the Magnetron up, but I'm honestly curious on the latter. Edited for the 3rd time: Magnetrons pulling a ship attacked by a Giant Squid. Result...?
That's kinda stupid and funny when the hovercraft not sink to the water when falling from magnetroll grip but sink when falling off the demolished bridge.
I would also love to know if a Chrono Miner can still teleport while in mid air please? TIP: Lift up their Miner once they dock to drop off minerals.. then drop it straight away.. Both the miner and the Building explode. Very quick way to level the playing field.
The unit is entirely disabled and helpless while airborne. If the Chrono Miner lands safely, it can chrono back to the refinery immediately, teleporting away from further danger.
From what ive learned: Allies is for Players with experience due to thier Weak but faster units The Soviets are for beginners due to thier units having higher health but slower speed Yuri is for Experts and Trolls because of the mind and grind tactic
I think we can compare it with Prism Tank. Negative: -less effective against structures -can't do anything to enemy infantry(which will appear when you destroy a enemy building) -can't deal damage to enemy vehicle directly -won't attack at all without order -can't damage multiple targets at the same time -not ideal to defend the base Positive: -costs 200$ less -can do something tricky to enemy vehicles Well I think I'd better try to capture some Prism Tanks for final attack instead
Positive: Will save your vehicle's asses. The poor man's Chronosphere, you wont go far, and you wont go fast but at least you can skip cliffs or bodies of water. I had my ass saved by Yuri team mate using this. Magnetron an MCV to cross a river that your Tanya just blew out the bridge? Those are the times.
You probably have the same problem that I have with my units.. if you set them to attack a unit they will go closer than they farthest attack range than if you just set them up and let them shoot themselves.. It's very annoying as sometimes I've set units to attack and they die from their buildings grr

I have done this many times.. Lifting up your units to gain advantage on maps that have cliffs.. There is one in particular that the middle is a cliff. Set one on one side and the other on the other side and Taxi each other up onto it :)

I imagine if this were in RA 3, this unit could be switched from attract to repel. that would be a good defensive measure, push away tanks so the infantry will have to charge alone.
If only a Yuri faction existed (or could have given to the soviets since they have the technology of magnetic beams used in the hammer and apocalypse tanks in ra3, which can also be used to make their own version of magnetron)
AA can attack lifted units and Yuri's base defenses are mostly AA so they get extra range while attacking those lifted units. As for damage it seems just like normal damage to me

Partially why I was requesting more testing to be done with the Magnetron.
Magnetron is NOT for casuals. Casuals, when playing Yuri, use Gatlings and Lashers(sometimes Masterminds), but never Magnetron, despite being useful against Navy(oh, and Casuals spam Boomers on "with water"(?) maps).
Wow. I either forgot, or never knew, that magnetrons damaged buildings. I always thought they were a bad novelty unit to make enemy tanks vulnerable to mind control and Gatling tanks/turrets.

can magnetron lift magnetron? what if you try to lift a magnetron while it is lifting? what about lifting a ship while squid is attacking it? can you lift yuri prime's hover chair? what if you lift parked harrier or black eagle? what about very low flying nighthawks?
A magnetron can lift another Magnetron. If it was lifting a vehicle, the vehicle will simply fall down like a stop order was given. You can't lift Yuri Prime. It will be released from Giant Squid. Harriers will be lifted like any other vehicle and will be destroyed when landed. Don't know about low flying vehicles.
This map you used for testing, I noticed you have everything unlocked. That would take ages to do over and over for experiments so i guess you have your modified maps for this purpose. Is it possible for you to upload it

Terror drones do little, flak tracks moderate, grizzlies heavy, Rhinos extreme, and MCVs destroy just about everything. But what determines the damage they do? There is no internal weight value of units as far as I know. Is it their Strength (aka health) value?
can you give us your testing map/save? i wanna have some fun with no ai interrupts. btw, here is a list of what is the best everythingL allied plasma tank (that light thing)=building destroyer Magnetron: vehicle stopper soviet/allied tank: low soldiers killer (kills low quality infantry to start going with the rest) tesla tank: infantry killer apocalypse tank: best base shield this is just a small list, but hope this helps understand better use of them.

There should be a mod that adds interactions between Tesla Troopers/Coils/Tanks and Magnetrons, like friendly tesla units can power up their range or structure damage, or enemy magnetrons can be short-circuited/EMPed by Tesla units. Plus Tesla troopers should be vulnerable to the Magnetron. Also, maybe the reason the Magnetron causes lifted helicopters to make a death quote is because they might die, if they were enemies? I noticed you only tested on your own troops. Also, while I'm all for unit flexibility, lifting terror drones and dropping them right next to an undefended Magnetron is about as suicidal as you can get. LOL

If you drop a slave miner in water while its slaves are out and following it, I seem to recall the slaves turning neutral, not joining your side.
Maybe if Yuri had his own campaign missions I'd know how to properly use the damned things.
