This is sad. That The Holy Spirit, the Third figure of the glorious Godhead, the comforter, the very One who offered the blood of Jesus in the heavenly sanctuary, our Helper, should be presented in such a way. Jesus Himself said that it is better if I go away because He WILL COME! Be not many of you teachers knowing that you will be held to stricter judgment. Spend some time getting to know the only One who can reveal the secrets of the Fathers heart to us, and open up the depths of the Word.
No part of the Trinity is better than the other. At the time, Jesus had accomplished the climactic event of redemptive history and was not as helpful, as a being who can only be in one place, as the Holy Spirit who could be EVERYWHERE. It is necessary to systematize our doctrinal understandings, as one consequentially affects our interpretations elsewhere within our studies.
Yeah I agree Kyle and Edna. What is the confusion here? It was a great presentation standing in line with Orthodox understanding as presented in Scripture. What is Mitch getting at? That Jesus needed to move out of the way so that the "real" power could come? Is this a "Jesus is man and the Spirit is the Father" unitarianism stance or Modalism, not sure what Mitch is trying to communicate to us. And Jesus himself is the High Priest. He works in conjunction with the Spirit as a presentation of propitiation. Super weird dichotomy going on here. The Spirit and the Son are working together. "I am not leaving you as orphans" "I am sending you another Paraclete" "Behold, I am with you till the end of the age." The Spirit is the Lord, Jesus is the Lord. Paul is confronted by Jesus on the Road to Damascus. "You are persecuting me", even though the Spirit is the one working with his believers in Acts.
The churchfathers made a blunder my friend! They didn't get that the HOLY SPIRIT = THE FATHER (who is a spirit) ("God is a spirit" Jn. 4:23,24). No "Lord who gives life" exists! Since the Father is a spirit, Jesus calls Him either "Holy Father" or "Holy Spirit", they are just two EQUIVALENT names for the SAME Person! 1. The blasphemy against the Holy Spirit means blasphemy against the Father, no one was forgotten, 2. The Holy Spirit SPEAKS when Jesus was baptized 3. The Father makes the miracle of the Mary's pregnancy 4. The Father leads Jesus into the desert 5. Jesus CORRECTLY reiterates dozens of times that "God is only made by A. the Father and B. the Son" e.g. "I am not ALONE because the Father is with me". The HOLY SPIRIT = THE FATHER. He is with Jesus. Of course He is mentioned only ONCE by Jesus as "the Father", no one was forgotten.
My witness Ghost Comm EVP, the Holy Spirit.
@30:39 It’s not him(The Holy Spirit) on it’s own. They’re not individuals, not parts, not separate? That explanation went terribly wrong!
I think he meant to say that the HS is not a renegade God, who does whatever he wants apart from the Father and the Son.

Mitch Garcia
The Holy Spirit is not a ‘figure’...he is the third person of the trinity who constitutes in the Godhead.

You're right.
