This was a great idea to update us on how things are going. I can't imagine how much time & effort goes into making your videos but I can say that the final product is very enjoyable to watch. Your editing choices work so well in making your narrative into a voyage that we all feel a part of. Thank-you so much for sharing and say hi to Brian for me.
Ha ha!! I was wondering when you were going to ditch the big, heavy bag. I have also recently started lightening up my gear and reducing my base weight and there's no going back!! I just ordered the new Durston Gear 40L backpack and I'm super excited to try it out. I believe they are still available to order and it's always nice to support a Canadian company. I'd also recommend switching to a quilt, it's been a great upgrade. BTW had a great time on the SCT.
Yay so glad to hear the SCT went well!! Ya… it’s time to go ultralight. I think I was just being stubborn before 😂. I am super keen on supporting Canadian companies. I think I’ll try to order everything over the next few months in preparation for next season.
zpacks has a shoulder pad attachment that helps with the collar bone issue. i have the same trouble with my frameless pack. when you go ultralight you're gonna want to weigh everything.
I love this suggestion - thank you!! The collarbone issue is really started to deter me from wanting to backpack. I am so glad there is a solution out there!!
Once they snapped out of barking/defending zone when I opened welcro pocket to get my pocket knife. But also some time i used firecrackers and lately I carry dog spray.
Dog spray(like bear spray but milder). But mostly very loud commanding firm voice with strong body language telling them to GO HOME. I worked for a major electrical utility and have had many scary dog encounters including one bite. Trekking poles can be very helpful as you found.
It was good to hear your precautions to keep yourself safe. That has been on my mind, lately!
Yes, managing fear is key to success in any endeavor!
Definitely!

Thanks for the tips!! I think I’ll look into dog spray - I had been wondering if that was a thing. Do you know where to buy it?
Not really but maybe @@KrystaNorwick. I get it in local hunting store called Lovac.
They are here in Croatia in Zagreb at Nikole Tesle 4 address.
