Do you have to make sure the piston is at top dead center before bolting the head back on for hydrolic lifter's?

My combustion chanber is getting oil in it and the spark plug has oil on it.. eny sugestión on wat can be the problem..thanks in advance.
Great series ! With that carbon build up, I’m thinking it was burning oil for some time, months ? Good lesson on the hydrolic lifters, Thanks ! 👍
Yes I believe there was always a slight issue since he bought it years ago, thanks for watching!
Awesome

Hey If the engine looks abused I will look into both cylinder head gaskets. I will recommend both replacement but only the bad one if he doesn’t want to spend the money. Hey how about those bolts holding throttle and choke bracket. They almost alway snap. Excellent video
This engine was diagnosed as only having an issue with this front cylinder. You can watch how I diagnosed it here: th-cam.com/video/X2OwAv2ExTM/w-d-xo.html
No need to do the other head gasket as it hasn't blown yet.
Thanks for watching!
Great video, I’ve done this on Kohler engines a few times now but not being trained I wasn’t exactly certain I was doing it right. They always worked after and it’s my own equipment but it’s nice to see this process from start to finish. It gives me a little more confidence when performing the work, Great video. How long of a job would you say this should usually take 1 day? Also I’ve had the devil of a time getting the lifter rods under the rocker arms after tightening the rockers. Any tips for doing this with just one person?
Thanks, and yes if you already have the parts, absolutely 1 day.
It got dropped off on a Tuesday afternoon I believe, I ordered parts that day and the machine was ready by Friday.
Also, definitely easier with a 2nd person for depressing the valves. If you're doing it by yourself, get the biggest wrench you have and try to do it yourself with both hands. I know it can be difficult.
Thanks for watching!
Put the push rod in place in the lifter and under the rocker before you tighten the rocker down.
They are non adjustable, The lifter pivot seats on the head, no way to over compress lifter, at least thats the way my CH23 is.
Brass is barely harder than aluminum, and it doesn't scratch it either, in my experience.
👍
