Great company. Didn't realise they made anything other than the original 'footies' for plumbers. Got an old set that's stood its time. Great British company proud to stamp its name on its tools. Make sure to give those tools good workout like they deserve!
Just bought a footprint bolster rather than the ox one I had in the amazon basket before. Support British industry and the fact they are willing to reach out and support the little guy themselves
The problem is manufacturing sector in the UK are not advertised or promoted by other local firms. For example when local American business makes something they always promote their local manufacturers. Hats off to this guy for educational videos.
Very heartening to see an old established firm still manufacturing , It goes to show you cannot beat quality tools , that have to work for a living Sheffield ,Good steel Good Heat treatment Great reliable tools Still have mine from the 60,s Thank you for sharing
Well what can I say yesterday was the first time l used the footprint tools simply amazing cannot believe How good they are the lump hammer is so solid the chisels a fantastic cut cut through bricks like butter how good they are the lump hammer is so solid the chisels cut through bricks like They are butter I’ve been in the trade a long time and I’ve never used anything as good solid Sheffield steel👏👌💪
Great to see, the kinda of place a lot of us would love to tour. The machines that make the tools are also great, built to last. The stuff missing from the video is the smell and the noise that also add to it, I can picture that place 40 years ago still being much like it is today.
Top quality tools i have 2sets of line pins both bought in 1990 still good as new. Thanks Stu really interesting video👍👍👍 thumbs up for British engineering.
Good video Stu, great to see proper Sheffield Steel company and how it works , nice new shineys, look after them , get you can't wait to use them !!😎🤗😉
Still got some of those Foot Print tools mainly cold chisels. Iv had them for close on fifty years and still use them although they are getting badly worn they remain some of the best typ of cold chisles I have had. Cheers from New Zealand.
Just bought there lump hammers. There chisels and bolsters / line pins. Have always been a league of there own. 4 1/2 bolster just replacing after nearly 16 years. And it’s still use able to split blocks.
I use footprint wrench everyday think it's from the 70s still works as the day it was made Its got its own place on the tool board and its own name Who's got Freddy works. 8 till 5 Mon to Friday Great tools. Because they are British
I have the 4 1/2 inch bolster and the best thing about it apart from the quality of it is, I just love the fact when your cutting a block you can do it in two hits because it’s the width of the block unlike the 4inch where you need to move 3 times to cover the width of the block. Simple but affective. Quality tools footprint
good Vid Stu went there about 8 weeks ago Tim is a top Man and the sandwiches went down a treat. We are hosting the Guild of bricklaying Com at our college in Yorkshire area on the 31st if you want a day out Our lads are always looking at your VIds we could say you are a VIP
I have met Tim a couple of times at tool shows. (Yes the director goes and stands all day at tool shows) A proper bloke, not a suit. I told him about the rumour on site that Footprint pins aren't as good as the use to be and the new ones bend. Tim told me, and the video shows it, that they are still made the same way and if anyone bends a Footprint pin, send it back to them and they will send you an new one free of charge. They want to test a pin if it does bend. Personally I have never actually seen one bend! I suspect the rumour has been started by the competition. The jointing irons are much better quality than Marshaltown's and don't get me started on the shit made in China. The Metal in the Footprint Iron is just a better grade of steel, they last and last.
@@Stucrompton1 For some reason, Footprint means so much to us, so we are grateful to them for keeping Footprint going and especially still British made. Thanks for spreading the word with the video.

The sight of the UK making secondary and core products does make you feel warm. We DO make good equipment.
Great to see, the kinda of place a lot of us would love to tour. The machines that make the tools are also great, built to last. The stuff missing from the video is the smell and the noise that also add to it, I can picture that place 40 years ago still being much like it is today.
