Retired and living as an expat in Ghana. We, *my wife and i* are living in our 2nd Apt. and in a few days I will have been in Ghana for 2 years. The main thing I have noticed is, things are not always squared away as far as walls for angles, and where the door meets to close the building. The Plumbing is not US code, but seems to work but have the plumber use all new parts, this goes for the Carpenters as well as the ability to use 2nd hand is available. This has caused me to have a few discussions with my wife Blessing about how things are done in Ghana. my reply is usually, I would rather pay a bit more at the beginning than save Cedis and then have to have a guy come in and fix stuff that was just fixed 5 months ago. It is a very nice looking house but not sure I would like to go thru finding people to build a house for me. Gratz on your channel getting more subscribers.
Using a reputable company to build, is vital otherwise anything goes. I have two projects using two builders, one is excellent while the other causes stress. Have you seen how some of these guys lay down toilets? I had an debate with two plumbers for several minutes before agreeing to disagree...they are laying down toilets without using a flange and they use silicone to secure the toilet instead of using the provided screws from the manufacturer. Lastly, I would never buy a new home simply because you don't know if it was built correctly.
I smiled through the entire video! 😊 This house is a TRIUMPH! Congratulations Annette, this building is meticulous! What a superstar you are! Choosing the right mason and artisans is EVERYTHING. Huge congratulations to him and his team, I hope this gets him lots of recommendations! Jasmine, thank you for a terrific interview, one of your best, Annette was clearly at her ease.👍🏽
@@JasmineAmaa electric fence + bars = prison. I am from NY and now live in Atlanta. America is 1 million times more dangerous than ghana, but we will never install bars are electric fence and barbed wire around our house. Although people walk around with guns just the same as carrying a cell phone Nobody from ghana and Africa living here would never live in such prison like they do in Africa Although our crime rate is on another level compared to ghana or Africa. Africans need to think about that. The living room of this house doesn't have any bars why is that? So why have it any other places?
Oh wow! The house turned out so beautifully! When we interviewed Annette and the developer a few months ago, it was still incomplete and I wouldn’t have imagined how beautiful it would turn out! ❤
the house is very nice. I am really impressed. I would've changed a couple things but overall, she has built a dream home that her family and friends will be able to enjoy. And the in-wall speakers are a nice touch. I'm sure that housewarming party is going to be lit. Great video as always.
Very timely interview for me as I have bought 2 plots of land in Ghana with plans to build ! This is literally a masterclass on building in Ghana !Could she share the name of her contractor? Thanks to Annette for being so gracious in sharing all this information . Jasmine as a long time follower I always enjoy your interviews .You always ask the questions we want to know the answers to , well done !
Well done to you girl! It’s not easy when it comes to building in Ghana 🇬🇭 and being a woman makes it more challenging. I have had my own experience when it comes to that. Hopefully I can share my experience with you one day. Well done Jasmine 👏🏾
This young lady and her husband have done very well. They've created a home that they can one day retire to or move to and the home is very nice. One thing I'd like to see more of in Ghana is sidewalks...too many folks have to walk in the road with their children. Congrats on a nice house....btw...UP THE GUNNERS! 💪🤪😝
I can't believe this video is almost an hour long. The building is so nice 👏👏👏, the conversation was very interesting as well. You got all the modern stuff in place. Excellent work done 💯
This house is immaculate. 🎉Our sister utilized the space with intent and it works. You can tell that a lot of thought went into it. Annette did a great job. The lighting as a result of the high cielings and large windows is great and does wonders for the esthetic. The minimalist burglar proofing really fits with the design, (I'm stealing/borrowing that concept without a doubt 😁). The open space speaks volumes. Her builder did a great job. Thanks as always Jasmine. Very nicely done feature.
Sounds like she is intelligent and got the land secured before building there. She looks like a person that paid only when it was properly researched and deal was sealed with all required documents
This video pops up on my screen at the exact time my contractor sends me a video update of my fence wall which I am building to protect the land while I build. This is indeed a master class in building in Ghana !!! Thank you very much Jasmin and Annette 🫡🫡
What is the job of the land’s commission? Because how people simply refuse to encourage green spaces is one of the contributing factors of the constant floods. Where do we expect the water to go if we concrete everywhere all the time?
Thanks for sharing Jasmine, helpful got those of us who want to build in the future. Great job on the build 👏🏽 and shows it’s not as cheap as some people make out. My question is why is there burglar proofing on some windows and not on others? Surely it’s an all or nothing situation? Xx

Hello Jasmine. Thanks for sharing the house with us. Does the owner mind sharing the company that installed her reverse osmosis machine in Ghana. Thank you so much.

What a beautiful house unfortunately the roads in areas like this might never be constructed, and this house would end up being a dusty house. It is a common problem in Ghana.
@NomadBlack it's not about painting the house. It's the amount of dust you will have to deal with inside, especially when the road gets busier. I have lived in an area like this before. Unfortunately, it's a cultural problem in Ghana.
