- How I paint outside in my sketchbook with watercolor. Plein air set up I can take anywhere and fill my sketchbook with paintings and drawing from life! In this video I take you on an adventure to paint outdoors using watercolor and gouache. I also share my current favorite travel art supplies, the set up and techniques I use for urban sketching. Urban sketching is a great way to improve your skills and capture the moment!

I love the way you turned this from an urban park into a rural location by blurring the background buildings.

What an awesome experience. And the squirrel! 🐿 😂 Your comment about the trees really spoke to me. I’ve been taking my walks around our neighborhood park while my son is at swim practice. I took some pictures of this picnic area and trees thinking I’d paint it when I got home. But now I think I will to take my paints and sketch book there instead. Thank you for inspiring me!

I love your outdoor sketching more than anything else I’ve seen you do. I have bought myself a sketchbook and have started filling it with various things. Please do more plein air sketching. Tell your dad thank you so much for the creation he made to hold your sketchbook and paints. That’s where you inherited your creativity from, right?

I have no artistic ability at all. But I would like to learn & love watching these types of videos. That was so sweet that at 8:08 when the fly shows up you are just like oh hi fly lol. Almost anyone else would have swatted it away, but you just let it do it's thing.
