Ironically, the snow biome is the one I personally see the biggest (and actually positive) difference between ASE and ASA. The missing wind makes ASA's green biomes actually look dead to me. ASA does look good at a glance, don't get me wrong. I am just searching for 40$ worth of improvement, because the gameplay ain't having it. Yes, you have S+ QOL improvements in the base game now, congratulations, but there is still the meshing issue, rafts still clip through any terrain and are a mess to build on and still be usable, animations are more or less exactly ASE, so no improvement there as well. I DO like the ruins they put around the lore sites. What I don't like, from a pure gameplay perspective is the immense addition of optical clutter in the caves. It does look nice on a first exploration, but for the grind... hell no. I want to see them dinos. From the first impressions I am not at all convinced, that the momentary state of the game is worth my money, even tho I really want to play ARK on an official server again.
They changed most of the character animations like running jumping swimming gathering. You can turn down the graphics. And arguably the biggest upgrade which is better support for mods and console mods isn't in effect yet.
Can you demo some actual gameplay differences? I would like to see the building system in SA and see if it's been updated so we don't have to "drop" or "raise" foundations on uneven ground. I would like to see if moving materials from a dino to storage is still as painful and difficult a process as vanilla. Can you showcase some actual gameplay differences outside of the visuals. Yes.. ARK SA is pretty, but pretty lasts about an hour and then you've seen most of it. I want to know if there have been any substantial gameplay improvements for QoL. This is what will KEEP people interested and purchasing as opposed to the new visuals just looking good. 90% of the players in regular ark had to turn down the graphics just to handle the lag.. so I don't think visuals are the best selling point for Wildcard. Let's see some actual QoL improvements. Is the whistle system less janky and confusing? Do I still have to popcorn everything out of a dino to move it? I noticed the raft is a little wonky. Can we still build on it? You did showcase a that the torch can be held in your belt. That's a good QoL item. Though I didn't see it working on the Troudons at night. Gimme some GAMEPLAY. Graphics are meh to most people. Not important. I've got loads of pretty games that suck and won't ever get played becasue the gameplay is crap. And I've got some fugly games I play all the time because they have good mechanics.
It's easier to place building parts and furniture. There is snapping mode and free placement too. Also the ghost image of a bed for example follows the shape of the wall, this way it's well aligned and isn't half inside the wall. And also you can remove them to place them again in your inventory.

My problem with ASA is, that there is only one base texture for everything, rocks, ground (in every biome) everything is the same color, every biome, every map looks the same. All one big beige/brown/orange mess.
One thing I wish they had revamped was the dino movements so they felt heavy and a part of the environment. The way they moved in SE was so robotic and cheap. They carried that over to SA and it takes away from the real beauty that they put into the update. Every dino looks like they weigh the same the way they step, hard to explain but it just takes the life out of the beautifully reimagined game.
many people here like the new cartoony ark,but for me ark had a different, feeling it was more "harsh" i guess it was not like other survival games like muck or pixark, dont starve together ,terraria or minecraft or maybe even unturned it was more 'realistic' like rust or the isle

@@HollowBagelit’s only optimisation issues, not performance issues
@@rixyz7013 They have performance issues because of optimization issues.
The optimization causes bad performance. I don't know why you felt the need to comment this..
Ark got the Halo 2 treatment when it comes to remasters and I love it
It looks more like ark 2 now, and the fog makes it look more mysterious!
ASA feels like how ASE felt to me back in like 2017, looks beautiful, is Ark, and I can get lost in it for hours at a time.
Remember guys, this is just The Island. We still have all the other maps to get. Aberration, Genesis, Fjordur, that is gonna be so amazing
When you want to experience the Jurassic period but can't afford a time machine
why does the old ark look so much more full of life tho idk i kind of prefer older art style
Well done, Raas.
Amazing vid thanks
Just imagine if they put in a update hight tide and low tide system
that would actually be so cool
I love this slideshow comparison. You think you can maybe make this a video?
Since these were mostly visual comparison will we get a video on gameplay/fixes comparison?
One thing I can't figure out why it's so easy is the grabbing wild babies, they grow up so fast it's easier than taming.
I can't tell witch is witch just more money to pay for a game you already own
Your effort is appreciated, I just can't bring myself to put a like on a silent video.
4:17 this better than a movie with 100million dollars in graphics
it would be good if u had added the name of the game it corresponds to on each image so we know which game we are looking at
survival is more realistic and ascended is more cartoony but i think it looks good cause they also got a major graphics improvement on the lighting
what? Ark looks nothing like real life. Ascended looks way more realistic
what? ark evolvd had even cartoon lines/nets as shadows. ascended is also still cartoony but way better
Props to wildcard for pulling out their A game but part of me will miss the old, imperfect game it is replacing
Lmao a game it’s the same game with a reskin
the new one is also imperfect it’s just too realistic and coloring just half sucks
Please tell me this is sarcasm..
@@HollowBageli also miss the old ark being developed new one is imperfect too old one had almost no graphical downsides but ascended has a lot of things me and others dislike about the look the new one looks like a netflix film which i don’t really like much
My problem with ASA is, that there is only one base texture for everything, rocks, ground (in every biome) everything is the same color, every biome, every map looks the same. All one big beige/brown/orange mess.
Perfect video to send to that annoying friend who keeps saying that nothing has changed. 😂
The biggest difference between the two versions is that we didn't get ripped off with ASE.
Gamers deserve the current gaming industry.
many people here like the new cartoony ark,but for me ark had a different, feeling it was more "harsh" i guess it was not like other survival games like muck or pixark, dont starve together ,terraria or minecraft or maybe even unturned it was more 'realistic' like rust or the isle
I’m truly lost on how people think Ark looks more “cartoony” now than it did before. To me all the visual changes are better textures and more realistic proportions, how can that possibly translate to “more cartoony”? I’m not trying to be a dick just genuinely curious what aspects look cartoony
@@WiseOakDakota probably the brightness and the characters
@@Dumb_Thing ok brightness is a good metric, you got me there, the darkness was much more palpable in the original Ark. Characters are still derpy but I think the newest iteration reigned in the character weirdness a lot
Fake complaint. The textures are no where near cartoony. Go back to ase and deal with your terrible light clipping
Just a shame Nitrado is single handedly going to kill the entire franchise
Can you do a low setting vs low setting (asa in low setting vs ase in low setting) to see what is better?
Seems like they mainly just learned how to use Fog and Bloom effects to hide unloaded textures in the distance. I can see the improvements in some places but in some of these it just seem like they added fog.
Cant wait to see the dlcs and the console version (i hope my xbox series s wont burn)
If you could you should do dinosaurs comparison
Seeing this makes it almost worth the wait for console
Bro I'm not gonna lie
I almost cried man, they did us justice with this one
Wait till you try to play it…….
