- For the first time we spend a week in a marina, soaking up the peace and quiet, abundance of cygnets and goslings, easily accessible tumble driers and water and electricity ON TAP. What a world. Also featuring: thunder and lightning, a mysterious horse... place, village baked goods and plant haul, and why you should never trust google maps in the countryside. Reflections on marina living and some quite stunning cow footage (if I do say so myself) at the end of the vlog. Hope you like it!

🔋 For the battery upgrade heads:
We used Ed Shiers fourcountiesmarineservices.com for our battery install, he did a flawless job and we can't recommend him enough. He is incredibly knowledgeable and utterly fastidious about his work and we're so delighted with the results (we have a video coming up with the full breakdown of what we had installed in detail and costs), its been a total game changer.
We paid for everything in full, so this isn't sponsored or discounted, just wanted to share for anyone else looking! (We also paid for the marina stay - no undisclosed spon con here).
🧍🏼♀️About me:
Hiya, I'm Kris. Last year I moved from a flat in London to live aboard and continuously cruise the UK on a 70ft narrowboat with my boyfriend Andrew and our cat Matilda.

#narrowboat #boatlife
Book talk on a narrowboat, that's a perfect combination 😊
All the years I lived on my boat, I never saw baby swans riding on a parents back
Alot of people live out on the cut. Nicer than in the marina but handy for rubbish, toilet emptying, diesel etc and most have jobs, schools etc
That meat n roasts looked scrumptious. Right, it's teatime now ! ( i think thet call it auto - suggestion )
As always, a little gentle meander with Kris and Andrew...Always enjoy the little peep in to your life, thank you.
Without trying too hard you guys seem to make it all such a fun breeze. Must say I like the low key humor and non hippy dippy vibes...oh, and great photography!
I’ve missed you! Such a treat to spend my Sunday afternoon with you. Yay for a magical bollard! 😂
Yay, happy Sunday Claudia 😘
Raining here in Spokane Washington today. I love the rain.
The Tulip bit tho!
♥️🐚
🌷🌷🌷
Another charming vlog thank you🙏✝️🙏🇨🇦
Such stunning footage. Beautiful and creative ❤
Oh my goodness!!!! Absolutely bloody brilliant!!! I’ve missed you these past few weeks, kept a look out and then tonight 😀😀😀😀yay!!! Love the swan & signets video. Your editing and videography is well……just absolutely fantastic!!! I’ve said this before and I’m going to say it again, there are lots of vlogs out there and to be honest I’ve lost interest in most of them as they all copy one another but you are absolutely unique and the videography is so professional!!! Thank you so much xxx
Thank you for sharing just lovely ❤️
So good, especially Swan Lake!
🦢🦢🦢
Hi there, well we did it! We hired a narrowboat and did the Ashby canal for a week, it was amazing, nerve wracking and everything in between. The English countryside is just beautiful and everyone we met was friendly and helpful (especially when I got the boat stuck on mudbanks twice😂) The weather gods were kind to us and I see what you mean by tight corners! I now understand the attraction of your nomadic water gypsy lifestyle and am extremely envious. We're back home now in New Zealand and I will look forward to your vlogs, keep them coming!
I'm so happy to hear this!! Really glad you had a lovely time 🥰
Great video, very refreshing, love your style of filming, very smooth panning. Boy those cakes looked So nice, sadly I'm a diabetic so I can only look & dribble! 🤣🍰🍰
Thank you very much for the smooth panning compliment 😂 not something I take lightly!! Hate a shaky camera
Really great Vlog Guys ❤cheers xx
Rain on a boat is heaven.
Yesssss!
Nice of you to have a birthday and give us a gift! Thanks soooooooo much, worth the wait! It's all good, yummy.
You are so welcome!
Happy Birthday 🎂🥳 The marina looked nice, liked the amenities, but if I had a boat I would want to spend as much time as I could cruising. I am glad you, Andrew and Matilda feel the same way. You and the birds are hysterical! Loved the swan interlude. As usual, a beautiful video. And……the Scotch Egg!!!!! WOWZAA! I have never seen one but it looked delicious. Take care., and thank you. 😊🤗 Kathy
:grins: So disappointed that the music-over for the Swan Interlude wasn't Dance of the Little Swans :)
Gosh you almost made Marina life look exciting lol...we’ve done a few days in them over the years but can’t wait to get going again, back to nature and the peace and quite 🙏
The best thing is we can choose between them so easily! The convenience is there but so is the adventure!
Is that Barnacle goose with six goslings?Mute swan have also six cygnet?
Really, really lovely! You’ve really settled into the vlogging thing and found your voice and rhythm. Beautiful! I simply adore all the water fowl.
That’s such a lovely compliment, thank you! 🥰😘
Eye grabbingly gorgeous as per your usuals & that's not just Matilda 🐾😻 fabulous & good to see you are cutting it back out on the cut once again - onwards !!
I’m now living in Overwater Marina, Nantwich, Cheshire. You were very lucky to be moored on a great pontoon. I like this Marina but all I can see is the side of two boats, not exactly what was planned but now necessary I’m afraid. I still haven’t got the courage up to learn to steer yet.
Absolutely loved the swan interlude, brilliant. 🦢
Happy Belated Birthday 🎉🎊🎁🍷🥃🍾🥂
Thank you Wendy, lovely to hear from you! Hope to see you steering up a storm out on the cut one day ❤️ If we’re ever in the area we must meet up for a cup of tea or a glass of wine!
@@krisatomic Kris, that would be really lovely ❤️
You could put in a bed that slides and then you would have a path to the front hatch. Maybe not, 😂🤣😂
Enjoyed this video. Thank you 🙏
Haha, thank you!
New to your channel. So relaxing and chilled. Loved this. Peonies are my favorites. Do you post regularly?
Thank you very much! And welcome 🥰 Lots of videos in the pipeline, but I don’t have a rigid schedule, they come out when they’re good!
Since I first discovered your narrownboat vlogs and found them to be so wonderfully refreshing. It is always such a pleasure to see a new portrayal of, 'This is it and that's what's happening' and as sublime as that sounds, I love every second of the unique way you see things. I dearly want to thank both of you for the effort you put into making these little moments a reality. Big hugs to both of you and, a belated Happy Birthday Chris. Yea!
Thanks so much for your lovely feedback, it means a lot!
Great vid , love the music !! As an observation I think tulips are highly dangerous for cats ! Throw them out 😁.
I did know about the tulips (and lilies of course)! They’re always out of her reach and she’s never shown any interest in them, but still good to be careful, I agree!
Thanks. Great video and the tunes were spot on too 👍🏻. I now have a more clear idea of what marina life will be like :)
Oh my word 👌 What a stunning vlog‼️ The wait was well worth it. My favourite channel by far🙌 Love your quirky humour and outlook on life😬😂
That's lovely, thank you!
Belated Birthday Greetings! I really love the pace and calm way in which you create your vlogs. God Bless. Pauline, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK
You passed my boat coming into Braunstone when I was moored next to another TH-camr. Always good to spot by boat and it’s a lovely area.
Thank you both so much the video is such a delight. Take care. Good to see you back on the cut.
💜💙💚
Missed you vlogs your camera work is so good you're a lovely couple Swan interlude was great the bake sale looks great 👍 love to you both ❤🎉keep up your good work 😊
Well done on Tchaikovsky‘s Swan Lake!
Another scrumptious video and a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎉🎂🥂
OMG!! That scotch egg looked amazing but so did the entire location and vibe of the place. I also loved the Swan Lake interlude, you have such an astute and clever eye to spot simple yet great images and choose just the right music.
Don't worry about your vans, stick to your crocs, they are now famous ❤
I've been a fan of your vids since the first one I saw a few months ago. Totally charming, heartwarming, imaginative, creative, amusing and beautifully filmed. Shame about the state of your footwear. But you can't have everything, I suppose.
Happy birthday I so enjoy your pictures
Really nice video, excellent photography.
Belated happy birthday, Cheers Millysue
Lovely vlog again. Hope you enjoyed the Rob McFarlane book as much as I did. Belated birthday wishes. Thank you.
💯
Lovely video as usual, gorgeous scenery 🤩🙋🏼♀️
Blimey, I hope this is from the Spring else there's gonna be a lot of badly babies on the waterways. BTW the little 'uns love Rice Krispies :D
It is from spring, they're all grown now 🥲
Aww believe me, human kids seem to grow just as quickly! 😂@@krisatomic
Thank you, always enjoyable to watch, well done.
Many thanks! ☺️
Really enjoyed this one thanks for sharing. Great to see the produce you buy. That scotch egg looked boss! Stay safe ❤
Thank you! I think about that scotch egg often 🥲
@@krisatomic hahaha it's good enough reason to return 😊😄👍
That was excellent when was it shot ? Spring?
Thank you, and yes, May :)
You were lucky to get an end spot at the marina while you were there, seeing boats either side through the windows must be a strange thing to get used to if you're squidged in the middle. You both excel at photography and storytelling (not forgetting the editing, of course), this was a lovely watch. I hope you managed to get to the farm shop eventually for some giant foodstuffs and I was admiring your new glasses which momentarily made me pay my respects to your old glasses in their watery canal grave. RIP.
Thanks so much! Incredibly we’ve still never made it to the farm shop despite passing it loads of times as their opening hours are like - every other Tuesday and Thursday 2:35 - 4:00pm when the moon is full ONLY
@@krisatomic 😂 … and only a supermoon. Hence the giant scotch eggs.
@@RJ-444 you’re lucky if you get a giant scotch egg once a year and I’m clearly DONE for 2023
Xx
U can usually get into by towpath, much safer
Good to see you back, the marina seems a little less stressful,is there winter mooring available or is that really expensive.❤
Thank you! They do winter moorings, you have to put yourself on a list and they’ll let you know what’s available 👍
Enjoyable video first time watching your scotch egg looked amazingly tasty
Thank you! And welcome 🥰
What water are tipping into the canal
Another amazing video. My wife loves your red jumper, where did you get it please?
Thank you! the striped one is very old ASOS unfortunately, not sure if it's possible to track down but maybe on Vinted?
@@krisatomic thanks we found it but out of stock 😭
What camera are you filming with? The quality is awesome
Thank you! One Fuji X-H2 and one Fuji X-H2S. Links in the description!
Happy birthday 🎂🎉
Hi, Great channel. Do you know how expensive the electricity is in the marina?. Do you pay separately or is it part of the mooring?
We paid separately. It’s metered, so you just pay for what you use. We paid just under a tenner for electricity for the week, and I’d say we’re at the top end of users and we also didn’t have our solar connected for most of that time. I imagine most people would use much less than that.
Thanks so much for the quick reply. If you dont mind what size is your boat and what was the cost or the mooring?@@krisatomic
@@shnboardman1 no probs! Our boat is 70ft, we paid £85 if I remember correctly (it was 8 days in the end, so more than a week) Not sure how their pricing works, so I’d give them a call to check as it may vary seasonally or depending on how long you stay.
The scotch egg should by law have a use by date. Firstly it's chilled, and its meat. The farm shop, should, know better as that it is a very basic error.
Wat do you do for work
We’re both self employed, I’m a photographer and illustrator. Andrew runs his own web-based company. We also work together quite a bit across all of the above!
Cant hear you bcos of music
If people aren’t literally clamoring at your metaphorical door to get you to direct commercials and/or music videos(people still make music videos right?), people are stupid.
You are tooo kind, that would be nice though 😂
Music is actually very annoying, not needed
