      Unless its a mark someone has given me and doesnt want it sharing, I'm always happy to give information on venues we fish, I was brought up holiday only sea fishing and time fishing was so brief that if we had more venue info back then we might have seen more fish (maybe 🤣) we are glad to help, enjoy the fishing, we do plan on putting some course fishing content on the channel too if we can so stay tuned thanks for watching Mike all the best.

      @@FindingFishUK cheers mate, we spent our summer holidays at my dad's mates caravan round at Treardur bay, would spend many an evening float fishing off the rocks generally for Pollock, so now I am touching 50 I'm looking to revisit this nostalgic memory, only my body is a shadow of that 13year old clambering down rocks with not even a thought of what could go round, thanks again an all the best mate, stay safe 👍

      Funny I’m doing similar! Stuck in Nottingham and finally driving so Im heading over at end of the month, fished moelfre as a kid with my mum and dad visiting family (who have now died) so I’m looking to get stuck in and see what I can find, hoping Mack’s and maybe a tope or Huss 🤞

      Thanks pal, You must get a maccy session in...I got really lucky last autumn tons at Moelfre...got a small bag full in no time. Didn't take millions just enough for bait for two for winter spring. Poor winter has me still using them yet.

    Once again a great vid and the lovely map location de breif at the end if only some of the others did that, I have never actually fished there though I know the spot well. What month were you fishing there?

    • @FindingFishUK
      @FindingFishUK  วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for the cool comment, was April in the video so was slightly early for Mackerel although saying that with the climate fluctuations and more research it is possible areas of our coast can hold on to traditionally migratory fish all year round but I’m far from expert in such matters so as a rule seemed early as maccy are considered a summer species.
      Glad you liked the video all the best to you and tight lines. 🎣👍

    • @FindingFishUK

      Thanks father Shane, you should defo have a go for some mackerel, great bait, great food it's my favourite close to cod and bass. From Late May onwards they usually show up off Whitby Pier (we know as after few cancelled boat trips Pier has been our venue... if Whitby is not too far from you its easy fishing off the Pier and can bag quite a few, a slow retrieve spinning off left Pier with sabikis or flashers gets the job done. my dad is not a huge fan of mackerel but he has been spoilt his young adult life as he had a boat with his brother in law and were just bait to them....but long gone now. Hopefuly we can get a boat in future but finances and time are a factor. But who knows. Thanks again for your comments and support, speak soon pal tight lines.

Walks, views, nature, super nice local village, places to eat and loads of local history to explore like the RNLI and about the Royal Charter etc and more. My other half loves it there...she's not too keen on the fishing but she's not a fisherwoman. I'm happy she's in love with Anglesey as much as I am, she don't mind me fishing so I can't grumble a bit. Tight lines for you both, by all means let us know how you get on. All the best.

    Nice video mate can u please tell me what reel and rod and set up did u use for Mackerel please thanks 😊

    • @FindingFishUK
      @FindingFishUK  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use a very simple cheap solid two peice beach caster with a cheap spinning reel. Nothing expensive carp rods, heavy-ish duty spinning rods or even telescopic rods can be used as a one off but I recommend fixed section rods in all honesty. Use sabiki style feathers or I find tinsel style very effective too. I use minimum 50lb braid but by far from needed (as this is expensive as i buy quality braid) I simply find if I get snagged I almost always only snap at the link between braid and feathers, leaving minimal line in the sea (there us enough in there already). Thanks for the comment and hope this helps find you some fish too. All the best Tim and Dave.

    Cracking video mate. Heading to Trearddur Bay for a week at the end of the month and can’t wait. Last time we were there caught nothing but Wrasse (not that I’m complaining too much) but would love some Mackerel for the BBQ. Will try these spots out. Unless you know any others closer

    • @FindingFishUK
      @FindingFishUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah in the summer months Moelfre is a good spot (obviously early for them in my vid) but closer spots to Trearddur would be, Holyhead breakwater, open again after closing (for now). Porthdaffarch is a spot I've had Mackerel too, over to the left over the headland (a slight rock climb so be carful) or Mackerel rock, I've never fished Mackerel rock myself so can't give specific advice on it but is very popular and close to Trearddur, just Google it. Do let us know how you get on if you don't mind. All the best and thanks so much for the comment. Tight lines. 👍🎣

      @@FindingFishUK hi mate, as promised just got back from an amazing week in Trearddur Bay. Only light tackle. A bit snaggy on the rocks to the left ( if looking out from the beach) but again had tons and tons of Wrasse there (just a metre or so out) some quite big too, also some Blennies (I think they’re called that) on baited feathers. At high tide on some steps directly below the sort of flag Pole monument had loads of Pollack on feathers. Didn’t get to mackerel rock as some roadworks going on but Porthdaffoch I had the same mini species which kept me happy. Also took a trip up to Amlwch and had the same few mini species, the Wrasse are everywhere but didn’t get a cuckoo unfortunately.
      So cheers for the suggestions mate and maybe one day I’ll bump into you on some random rock or other. Keep up the good word on the videos
      Edit: forgot to mention, on those same steps my little one put a crab net out a couple of nights and one morning there was a small conger eel in there, maybe 12 inches long, which was very cool to see.

    • @FindingFishUK
      @FindingFishUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@justme2720 thanks so much for the report, we just got back from a trip ourselves which sounds very similar to yours with locations and catches...is a lenthy vid in the process of editing it currently so watch out for it dropping, although the roadworks are on the road leading to Mackerel rock residents can get access and hence you can get access to the road to Mackerel Rock too. But I had to be brave and hope i could get there when I went past the closed road sign lol...considering we fish similar places its very likley we will cross paths and I hope so, by all means any fishing you do comment and let us know how you get on. thanks for the comments and watching our videos pal. Thanks for the comment, of course I can tell you / show you it's no secret at all I used a mix of "what us Brits commonly mistakenly refrer to as feathers" that day from the style known as sabikis, tinsel mackerel rigs and flashers. A quick google will find all of these and they detail them for use to catch Mackerel sabiki example see link here....
