- Dominic Ehrler was taking his regular walk at Los Angeles' Echo Park Lake when an unusual admirer took him by surprise. He looked down to see Maria, an adult goose, following his every move. They've been friends ever since.

Tears in my eyes, especially when he said "he knows I am one of him, he feels safe around me". Being that I am a pet enthusiast, I found that so relatable and beautiful. Animals truly are beautiful, humans should learn from them. Sometimes i get more genuine relationships with animals than I humans, isn't that sad ?

Beautiful it amazes me how animals can bond with different species. My ducks and cat get a long, though the ducks boss him about sometimes and he's a big mainecoon cat. They run to the humans when they see us probably because they know we are a food source but they like company too.

Those are birds not like most animals birds aren't predatory to large mammals and goose and duck have that bond gene or in there psychology and when two species that are completely different get along unusual things can happen

I was researching birds and found out that Geese are biologically more intelligent than owls. I just find that hilarious and adorable. Couldn't stop thinking about it while watching the video
I have a story about geese people may or may not believe about their connection with people. When I was a young man right out of high school, my father owned about a dozen geese that he had for several years. He loved those geese and they loved him. They never left the farm dwelling area. Then my dad died and in the week of his death, the geese left the farmstead and went to the outer areas of our 640 acre farm. I brought them back but they would leave again. I brought them back several times that summer but finally gave up and the predators eventually got them all. Geese are very special in an amazing way and loyal to their caretaker.

So one of my coolest experiences ever is. Me and my Grandpa once found some Goose eggs down by the lake and we took them, and got an incubator for them, and we did this because we were afraid they'd be eaten by a snake or something. Sadly all the babies died except one, but that one seriously thought I was it's mommy. Like he would follow me everywhere. Would always sleep right next to me when he took naps. Eventually we gave him away to our friend who was a farmer and had plenty of other geese there, and it was so hard to let him go, but I had to because I knew he'd be happier with his kind.
What a cool relationship with nature. :-)

This goose is Pecko! He was my dads goose. He imprinted with my dad and when he got too big and too much to handle my dad took him to Echo Park lake because he thought he would have a better life at the lake. :( I’m sure he imprinted with Dominic because he reminded him of my dad with his white hair. I’m so glad he found someone to connect with.

Well, I don't know my geese breeds, but after some Googling, I'm going to guess that this goose is a utility Toulouse (or a mixed breed), but certainly domestic. And also, adorable. I'd suggest that it's a familial sort of love rather than romantic, even on the goose's part. I'd expect a romantically frustrated goose to be a bit more aggressive. Because poultry.
Domestic goose, yes, but I'd be wary about assigning breed based on phenotype in this case. Feral birds that originate from domestic stock are a genetic mishmash, really, and can demonstrate all sorts of phenotypal traits when encountered in a "semi-wild" environment like your local park. They even readily hybridize with native greylags!
I have a goose and a turkey that argue over who's turn it is to sit on my lap. They both run to greet me every time I come home or walk out the back door.

Great watch dog -he wouldn't let any one he did'nt know come into our yard. Neighbor asked if the big chicken was locked up before he came over. He had great hearing and could hear Dads truck coming down the road from way off - he let us know his pal was heading home.

i have a baby chick who follows me around, and thinks i’m her mother. its really cute, and there was another one, a
who also followed me, but suffocated. so we got a new friend, their still young and they both follow me from time to time, but now, they are focusing on their friendship, and it makes me happy that my yellow chick got a friend who plays with her, i also have 2 more, almost fully grown hens, used to be enemies, now they are best friends, last night i checked up on them, and i was just patting one of them, but i forgot they couldn’t see my face in the dark, so she hid under her friend like a hen sitting on her chicks, it was so cute. they allow me to touch them if they feel like it, they know i wont hurt them its just that recently something ran after them and they got scared. So now i have to go through the process of them trusting me again, and its good. back to the 2 baby chicks, they are healthy and eat good. I clean their water alot, so they wont get sick. And theres alot of cats in my area, so i have to watch them outside, if there were no cats, i would let them play until their bedtime.
