Fast forward to 2023. Crusaders have just won their 7th title in a row. Led by Sam Whitelock, Scott Barrett, Richie Mo'unga and Codie Taylor they beat the Chiefs with a team decimated by injury with 8 All Blacks unavailable for most of the season. At 15:05 Razors chat on Teamwork Index is the key to how the Crusaders perform so consistently. He talks of recruitment and retention with the emphasis on retention. Combinations built on retention. Teams like the Blues rely on recruitment 'buying a player for their talent' but they don't build combinations. The teamwork index is a lot lower. Fascinating watch. I hope Razor can create a new TI with the All Blacks now he is taking over for the 2024 season. His core is the current Crusaders (10-12 player) in the squad at the moment. Encumbent AB's will already have developed a TI at the AB level. I'll be back in 4 years after Razor wins the World Cup in 2027.
I'm a chiefs man, but the bloody crusaders are too awesome. The culture and discipline and dedication etc is amazing. Now they bring in an Irish great to work other new angles. I've never been a fan of crusaders but have always respected and enjoy watching how they play
The rot started in Munster when Rob Penney was disrespected with a years extension to his contract. He is so valued by many over here. If he had been allowed to finish what he started Munster would be a completely different animal.
Great Interview. Ronan was a great player and it looks like with now his Racing and Crusaders work he is becoming one hell of coach. Good Luck to Scott as he moves into his job with NZ
If the Crusaders threepeat, surely Razor has to succeed Hansen as the All Blacks' coach. With Schmidt retiring, and Gatland now committed to the Lions, he must be the number one contender.
Sexton with his buddy on the panel (BOD) telling us he would be voting for him. ROG up against two of the greatest outhalfs of all time in Jonny and Dan during his time Sexton hasn't had any competition and wouldn't lace ROG's boots
A first class interview Lads. Insightful, engrossing & with a fine touch of humour as well. Looking forward to all the RWC19, pre, during & post deliveries. All the best.
You guys are amazing. Glad to see you’re back on TH-cam. I figured that Sky has been dominating your time, and wish we could see those shows. I can’t wait to watch this interview. I’ve been enjoying listening to ROG’s Off The Ball broadcasts. NZ and Ireland are supplying the best content in world rugby.
Posted on Facebook but will do so again. Fantastic stuff guys, thanks. I love the way that through your next-level analysis and through prep you can get elite-level coaches to talk to you in a different way they'd talk in almost any other rugby interview - they are both relaxed and more focused - that's your USP. Interesting about ROG, from up in Ulster on the outside I would have always had him as slightly 'grumpy' and 'cocky' (in a good way), but actually he was really a worrier. You never really know. One thing's for sure, he was certainly a warrior. Scott Robinson is all class. Cheers.
Fantastic interview and it's so good to have rohnan and Scot on channel, hopefully you guys have them on more often then not. Smart tacticians and as a young up in coming player that's priceless. When the coaching staff is amazing you play and take in what they say much more easily.
Thank you for a wonderful interview and the depth of questions. A born and bred Blues' fan. But the Crusaders personified quality in person and rugby my whole life. They inspired the best of the All Blacks game mentality, and better even than the Patriots, the Celtics' heyday, or even SAF's United. The dynasty is built on homegrown mana. Wayne Smith's legacy deserves a huge amount of appreciation for spurring this in Christchurch. We all win by Crusaders always mixing the benchmark higher up. Now I hope Leon MacDonald can bring that North.
Great insight into the best minds/team in super rugby...Awesome...And two hours later I hear Ronan is off to coach in France..."Tanks for da IP Scottee"
Arguably the best rugby interview since yours with Warren. Enjoyed the handshake in the end. Clearly you’ve made the 1014 a big part of the great game. One could sense that from Razor and ROG. Keying off their comments here it seems to me that the Webb-Ellis goes to the team who comes up with an attacking strategy that nullifies the massive English rush defense and the formidable Welsh mental strength. Clearly the All Blacks have the counter-attacking skills and tradition of dominance. Ireland will look to adjust their approach. Thanks for this interview. Great to see you back.
Another great interview and insight that you normally do not get, thank you for sharing your passion with us. Would love to see these two in charge of the AB's moving forward.
Thanks Lads for this amazing interview. The Crusaders coaches's approach to Rugby so simple yet brilliant. The fact that such a big percentage of the squad are local lads growing up player with and against each other makes the world of sense when building cohesion. Its a model I hope my beloved Stormers could follow because we most certainly have the talent and tradition in the Cape. I can not thank you boys enough for the fantastic content!

Best rugby i/v on 2019. First time anyone has got Robertson to really open up. Great to hear about the way they "theme" campaigns. Not entirely sure O'Gara is All Black assistant material just yet but if Razor believes then so do I. If Robertson doesn't get the AB gig it will be a travesty. A once in a lifetime opportunity missed.
Please guys keep this interesting conversation going I love the input each awesome coach contributed to the insight of the game. a great podcast and really intelligent and smart interviewing from the boys .... circa 40 minutes just flew by ..... these two coaches plus the broader crusaders group that stands beside them are changing the way a squad operates and plays ... the only team that appears to come close is recently crowned European Champions saracens .... i would hope that in a couple of seasons' time this coaching team could be given the opportunity to step out together onto an international platform and carry the ABs/Ireland/England/A another national team onto such a high level ... great to see "young" coaches gaining the kudos and respect their hard work and intelligence deserves. the very best of luck to them gong forward.
@@tabou1 yup i did say AB (NZ) first and TOTALLY AGREE that robertson should be in line BUT the nz abs likes to promote from within so you have fozzie and smith in the background behind hansen .... the brilliant kiwi schmidt is now away from ireland and back in nz ..... then you have gats becoming available after the 21 lions tour to SA .... so you can see robertson getting impatient and blocked for more than a decade .... if that is the case he will pack his bags and become the "king of the north" !
Great to see you back. .Hope you got to see the Saracens v Leinster cup final. A proper full bloodied game with great players going at it with a wonderful mix of skill and fury.
