A guardian malfunctioned during a test and started shooting beams all over the place, when Link grabbed a nearby pot lid, deflecting one of its beams towards it's weak spot, stopping it immediately. The king witnessed this whole ordeal and not soon after, he was appointed Zelda's personal knight. It would have been really cool if when you started reading the diary's of the champions, a cutscene would trigger, showcasing the events that were written in them.

Yk I noticed they both awakened their “power” during similar moments of life or death. When Zelda was in danger the Master Sword recognizes her masters presence and awakens for him to utilize. And when Link is on the brink of death about to be shot by a guardian Zelda’s Powers awaken and take out all the Guardians of Fort Hateno.
To be fair it was an unusually eventful few weeks even for them LMAO AoC seems to diverge quite a bit from BotW canon honestly. Zelda seems to have not known of Link at all before the start of the game, Link didn't have the master sword until midway through the game (as opposed to him finding the sword as a child and was recognized as Hylia's champion since he was young, hence the stress-induced selective mutism as outlined in Zelda's diary) etc etc etc. Overall, the botw canon had much more interesting depth rather than being a rehash of all the beats of the previous Hyrule Warriors, so I'm not sure why they changed things up for AoC. For my own sanity, they are clearly parallel universes.
If i read this right then Zelda is kinda stubborn to the bone. I doubt Link could always stop her if he says it's too dangerous to go outside or something. Especially early on Zelda was pretty resistant to everything Link was saying or doing.

He has to be above light speed, because he's able to perceive the laser, and move his body fast enough to get to it, then deflect it. Link in BOTW is pretty OP, the only reason he nearly died was because of tons of gaurdians
